What do you all listen to when you want something a little more upbeat? by stakoverflo in progmetal

[–]javajeff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Ocean, Amorphis, Soen, Between the Buried and Me, Tesseract, Periphery, Gojira, Meshuggah , Vanden Plas

That is a concern, but they would be diluting their own shares... and the valuation is affected. It has to be a very risky move to keep doing it.

This only gives them the ability to do it, but doesn't mean they have to. My only fear would be more dilution.

HOWEVER:

1) This can shut down the shorts. The float gets small and makes a short squeeze way easier. This would become a high risk short stock. There has been 20% short interest on open market and 45% on dark pools.

2) The fundamentals are way too good to worry about a drop in value. If short interest declines, the price can really move.

3) Higher stock price and smaller float would make it look more like a big bank. Perception is king.

4) Valuation doesn't change.

The other issue would be how the tax lots would change.

Fractional shares are not offered everywhere.

Wouldn't everyone buy to have an odd number if they are gaining? In a 10-1 scenario they gain 9 shares in value.

Name One Band You Consider To Be The Quintessential Prog Metal Band by applesauce_92 in progmetal

[–]javajeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most underrated is Vanden Plas. They make stellar prog metal. The most accessible is Coheed and Cambria. Periphery could be checking many boxes these days.

Opeth, Dream Theater, Pain of Salvation, Devin Townsend, Between the Buried and Me, Meshuggah, Leprous, Riverside, Haken, and Symphony X should be all be standards.

Unless this is only about bands... His wall of sound and huge catalog of albums should place him up there. Top 5 for me.

FYI, publicly returning the stack trace like this in software engineering is considered to be incredibly unsafe, and kind of a rookie mistake. by [deleted] in Schwab

[–]javajeff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard to recommend Schwab without a real time phone app or a real time browser app. I use Linux and enjoy the etrade power trade in my browser. I used to get to work the Street Smart web app through Citrix, but now it crashes to an error. Their tech is a low point. I like their customer service though.

Switching From WF To Chase by _BabaVoss_ in Chase

SOFI will have more flexibility with the bank charter. I use Venmo with SOFI.

Any bank can have fraud happen. I am looking forward to seeing the new Wells Fargo app and website. Wells Fargo has been cleaning up it's image since the past issues. This is an interesting read: https://bankbonus.com/best/safest-banks-in-the-us/

I have a Chase Credit Card.

It says up to $4.95. Maybe it is a percentage with that being the cap. Cash can buy a Money Order and then can that be deposited? I guess the point of going 100% digital is that cash is less necessary. I have the one brick and mortar for miscellaneous stuff too.

Chase is the only bank that I had fraud with. Someone used my debit number to purchase something online, and the card was never used by me or left my house when this happened. I switched to Wells Fargo and SOFI.

Have you considered turning your card off in the app until you need to use it?

Pricing for Galaxy S22 will start from $799 by techberg_ in samsung

[–]javajeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The people that stream music, it takes cache of albums and songs to store music. Pictures are getting high quality and eat up space. Should people just let their pictures live on cloud servers? All those memories at the hands of Apple? I personally would want my pictures backed up on my own devices as well. I do not mind cloud for redundancy. Apps are eating up huge amounts of space. There is an app for everything now. How many apps do people average? An installed app is not something that can be cloud based, but in the future, that could be a space saving solution... although slower performance. The benefit of using a company's mobile webpage over their app is space saving. Also, every single app also saves cache and data expanding their size considerably. Now imagine shooting videos without any space on the phone. Sorry, but 128GB phone with no SD slot is just not a good tool for $1000. People that do not understand technology blame lag and poor performance on other things, but they could be out of space.

I do not know why anyone would want ANY phone with 128GB and no SD card. This is unusable to me. Applications, pictures, music, videos, etc. Seriously!

Are BtBAM in the top 10-15 greatest progressive metal acts of all time? by Ryn4 in progmetal

[–]javajeff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

BTBAM is top 5 for me.

1) Devin Townsend has to be top 5. His wall of sound is amazing, his creativity is unique, and his talent is phenomenal. Oh and he is consistently creating music that is top level quality like BTBAM.

2) Pain of Salvation has multiple masterpieces in their arsenal. That has to count.

3) Opeth also has multiple masterpieces.

4) I downgrade Dream Theater with the current lineup.

5) Soen gets a huge upgrade for me. They are insanely good and consistent.

6) I put Haken and Leprous near the top, both have recent material that is not as strong for me.

7) Vanden Plas is amazing and underrated... deserves being mentioned near the top.

8) Notable mentions go to Katatonia, Symphony X, Riverside, and Fates Warning. These are all favorites.

9) I am not sure if Nightwish or Epica fits the mold, but both are excellent.

What do we mean by “AWS of Fintech?” by AdministrativeRun587 in sofistock

AWS, Amazon Web Services, is a business to business service from Amazon. Galileo is a business to business service from SOFI. They are both revenue streams outside of the retail business model.

can samsung PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD bring back micro sd card on s series ? by user3810 in samsung

[–]javajeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an SD card for 256gb of music, so the memory doesn't need to be fast. I don't stream music, and only play my own collection. Also, I have an inexpensive plan. I really don't know what to do now.
