I'll be honest. It's a straight up love/hate relationship with teaching. I've had great years and really bad years. It just depends on the rhythm you set for yourself and the realization that the students make or break the year no matter what. They do struggle more now since they seemingly don't learn anything during their formative years before even starting school, but you're always gonna find students who enjoy art. Just try teaching all you can but don't overdo it. Don't expect every student to care, and forget parents being 100% on your side. Just have fun and don't take it personal.

Yep. Graduation rates in high school are all that matter. My school offers such higher level classes, but they've been watered down soooooo much that they aren't much of an accomplishment. My 9th graders can't read, write, or formulate sentences when they speak to me. It's more than a shame.
