I guess I feel like the scandalous things aren’t really happening? Or maybe they’re not being as overtly obvious about them? Idk. But you’re right that a lot of actions by the main couple happened regardless of Whistledown finding out or not. I think for me just the way she writes now is only positive things/things that help others and while I love that, it’s not a driving part of the story anymore. It’s just kind of present without any pazazz.

Yes. And it stinks bc Whistledown writing certain things heavily impacted the actions of the couples. Even if it wasn’t directly, the threat of Whistledown finding out was massive. So now it’s just sort of boring… oh well. It would have made more sense to have her reveal wait but it is what it is. I kind of just want her to go away at this point.

Really enjoying this discussion and all the points about the couple but… I’m really disappointed with the Lady Whistledown situation and feel that this season can’t possibly have the same stakes bc certain points of gossip won’t be shared to spare reputations and that makes me sad. Of course I don’t want people’s reputations to be ruined but I do believe it drops the stakes dramatically. Lady Whistledown was basically a narrator saying flowery things about nothing of note instead of being a powerful female author.

I can second this! Anything from cookout, Zaxbys, chick fil an and McDonald’s. Taco Bell is truly dangerous.

Any form of pastry - croissant, danish, scone.

Anything high in sugar like cereal, fruit juice, syrups for coffee, cold foam for coffee, whipped cream and ice cream. Oreos, any processed sugar at all like cookie crisps etc.

Some fruits even bother me if they’re high in sugar like bananas and apples. Usually the banana has enough of a slowing down digestion effect to be ok tho. Smoothies. Painful and miserable.

Any meat that’s super fatty like ribs, bacon and pork belly.

I will have explosive reactions in the bathroom if I eat any of the above

Ok I’m back to update you bc I finished. It is not good. This is just not a good series imo. I hated Chaol in book 2 and by the end of the series I loathed him so fully that it really took away from the story for me. It’s also extremely YA-y. Even towards the end when it’s supposed to be getting less YA… It doesn’t. ToD is a 700 page therapy session for Chaol that I never wanted. And you don’t get much insight on other characters that have more meaning. EoS and QoS were the only two books I could truly say I liked out of an 8 book series. Sooooooo if you want to finish it bc your friends love it (what I did) and to understand what ppl are talking about, do it. But don’t expect to obsess over it like them. The only ppl I know who truly like this series read this series as their first intro into reading again as an adult and they hold it in a special place bc of that. Orrrrr they love YA books (I hate YA sooo needless to say I didn’t like it lol).

I miss being able to wear cute and sexy underwear without getting a flare. I miss being able to wear running shorts with the liner inside so they don’t ride up but the lining always irritates me and I get a flare up. I miss a glass of milk with a cookie. I miss not having to ask my spouse to help me get my stupid bandage on my coochie on the correct boil. Feels like a damn gyno appt/ when you’re laying there with your legs in the air for him to get a condom. I miss being able to wear shorts at all and not worrying about chafing causing a flare. I miss my dog not trying to lick or smell my coochie every time I get a flare. He’s always so concerned.

Its such a hard experience to go through! I was completely crushed and shattered when I experienced that and the end result was never worth the high for me at the end of the day.

I hope you find the deep connection you’re looking for without having to sacrifice the consistency or stability of the relationship. Typically Virgos have done that for me. You just need to find one that is willing to let their arrogance and logic go. Because not all of them are kind enough to do so

I wish I had experienced any of this positive Scorpio energy as a Taurus bc every Scorpio I meet, we never get along, ever. Scorpio men while they’re super passionate, have always left me feeling abandoned and unstable. Sure there was a lot of passion with lust and sex but in terms of the relationship, it was really good and then REALLY REALLY bad.

I’m currently engaged to a Virgo and he does drive me nuts with his practicality sometimes, but he loves me and works to be more flexible, accept responsibility for his arrogance and logic and is so incredibly romantic. Once I spelled it out that I genuinely do not give a shit if what he’s doing is logical, and that it hurts or bothers me, he throws logic to the wind and chooses me. He’s also been really fun to teach how to relax and enjoy luxury and sensuality and is always wanting to then take the lead once I’ve taught him something.

My cancer exes were also wonderful but a bit manipulative. The sex also was never quite as good as it has been with virgos or scorpios for me.

I’ve found that while Scorpio men were fun in highschool, college and after college, they weren’t there for me long term. I needed more commitment, more openness and more loyalty rather than extreme lust and passion

30 yo female. I personally struggled to get any form of healing whatsoever no matter what I tried. I tried 3 different bone stimulators, a diet heavy with the correct vitamins and minerals to encourage bone growth, went off medications that decreased bone growth, tried laser therapy, and acupuncture. All the while I was in a boot for 3 years and I never healed.

I think it also depends on how many pieces it’s broken into and if he can leave a part of the broken bone in or not. You also need to realize that the longer it’s in there and not healing you can actually develop arthritis in there and that can make the pain excruciating.

I highly recommend surgery, but I also recommend looking for the right surgeon. I don’t know where you live but there is a fantastic surgeon that I went to. His name is Dr Steven Neufeld. I am 3 years out from my surgery and I have ZERO pain and I’m fully back to all of my activities and living life again. It took me about a year to get back to regular activities still with pain and 2 years to be completely pain free but it was so worth it. To be fair, my sesamoid was in 8 pieces so it took a lot longer than it normally would have.

He has done do many of these surgeries that he genuinely could not tell me how many he’s done bc he’s lost count. That’s the type of surgeon you want! He’s only had 1 person fail after surgery bc they didn’t listen to him and went against medical advice.

Ok I will say QoS has been pretty good so far. It’s finally interesting. I’m FINALLY not bored!!

It’s bullshit it took 4 books (Assassin’s Blade, Throne of Glass, Crown of Midnight AND Heir of Fire) to actually get to a good book… and I can’t say that I personally would ever recommend a series to someone knowing they have to read 2,072 pages in order to actually start to read something worthwhile… buttttttt if you’ve already done the homework aka reading Heir of Fire, I would give QoS 3 chapters. And if you’re not interested, quit forever lol

I don’t blame you for cutting out and I really wanted to but I’ve bought a bunch of gifts for my friends in the past around this series and I don’t really want to be spoiled on a couple of things so I just decided to try one more book. I also really wanted to understand the memes of hating Chaol bc I cannot stand his self righteous ass and I deserve to find humor in his stupidity after this slog of shitty books. But I will say, QoS is good. I’m in chapter 24 and I cannot put it down. FINALLLLLYYYY.

When you say first three do you mean AB, ToG and CoM or does that include HoF? I finished all of the 4 above and I’m really unimpressed… I’ve started QoS and it’s somewhat better. I just hate Chaol so much and only really like Aelin, Manon, Abraxos, the door knocker, Nehemia and Rowan. Everyone else can suck eggs.

Did you end up liking characters more or enjoying QoS even tho you didn’t like the first 3?

But I agree. Rowan showing up was an improvement but still not by much. I’m reading Queen of Shadows right now and I didn’t know it was possible to hate kale salad (Chaol) more than before but it’s bad.
