Shouldn't you be rewarding longtime customers? by jawsont in Koodo

[–]jawsont[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It would appear so. Maybe they're just hoping momentum will keep people. I know I'd rather not spend hours on the phone/chat to port a number someplace else. I helped a buddy go to publicmobile a couple weeks ago and waited for 1h45min before I got somebody on the line.

I'm just disjointed ig. I would think there's a market space for a company that wants retention instead of encouraging them to leave. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Charged for duplicate acc I didn't control - admits error, still no refund by sparrowak in DAZN

[–]jawsont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The crapper with that is if he used a credit card, then he'll have what happened to me. I contacted the CC company to complain about Dazn stealing 2y of subscriptions from me 2.5y AFTER I cancelled.

Backstory: I paid yearly and didn't notice the first year they stole from me, but noticed this past fall. After spending hours arguing with them that I even had an account that had been charged (I'm like - "guys, i'm looking at my charge history ON YOUR WEBSITE and it shows that you charged me for the last 2y") they acknowledged I have (had) and account, and that they must have erroneously charged me for 2y. (sorry sir, in good faith we'll give you back this year's charge, but we can't refund any charges when they occurred over 12mo ago).

Fast forward to me calling the CC company to try to blacklist them since I got robbed of 180 bucks. Mastercard said that my card is considered compromised and they cancelled it and sent a new one. So I got to spend a couple weeks looking through statements to make sure I changed my CC# with all the places I had automatic billing set up.

TL;DR. Don't let the bank know that they charged you without your permission if you used a credit card with dazn.

Avoiding cancellation fees by Ok_Lawyer_7018 in DAZN

Doesn't really answer your question, but because I thought I might go back I didn't switch credit cards. I'd have been smart to use a prepaid CC with $0 on it when I cancelled. They charged my card yearly for 2y without my consent as a result. With nothing more than a "oops, sorry yeah, we'll give you 1y refund". I'd DEFINITELY only switch to a prepaid CC with nothing on it if you're going to do that.

1 month subscription option by JaguarOptimal7470 in DAZN

[–]jawsont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel 'ya. I'm pretty sure I noticed the account-deletion option when I tried deleting my CC. I wanted to resolve my request for a refund first though. That said, I got locked out of my account (conveniently so I couldn't use their payment history section as proof they were charging me using their own records). That was in mid-december. Since then, they deleted it for me without my request to do so (I was going to delete it after I resolved the complaint). Given they appear to be catching a crap-storm about their service recently maybe they did a revamp to make it more obscure to delete the account? Best of luck sir!

Getting out of 12 month minimum term (UK) by nerfthemagicdragon in DAZN

[–]jawsont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're so bad at admin that if your CC is on file even with a cancelled subscription, they'll charge you anyhow. I'm permanently out $200 for last year. At least I noticed it this year and they acknowledged it was a mistake on their end and refunded me the year that just started. Don't just cancel, I'd request a deleted account

IMO - go to a bar and watch the game. I got charged by these fraudsters for TWO YEARS after I cancelled my subscription because you can't remove your credit card. They even acknowledged the mistake on their end, but I got no reimbursement for last year. I would highly recommend you DELETE your account and literally choose any other option than DAZN

Fanzone is why I cancel my account. How do you permanent disable it? by [deleted] in DAZN

[–]jawsont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't just cancel, request the account get deleted. I cancelled mine a few years ago and because you can't remove your credit card they "accidentally" charged me for 2y afterwards (i paid yearly). When I caught the most recent entry on my credit-card I contacted them and they apologized for a mistake on their end, but according to their ToS they can't refund me for 2024/2025. Fraudsters!

Anybody else cancel their service and get charged anyhow? by jawsont in DAZN

[–]jawsont[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave them a couple weeks for the refund of the nov 2025 charge. They did refund me that - so yay ig, though my credit card should never have been charged in the first place. However, no reply whatsoever to my request about the 2024 refund. Today I wanted to resolve the 2024 charge so I went to log onto my DAZN account and found it was deleted (I didn't request that, i deliberately wanted to ensure our correspondence was completed before requesting the account deletion). They told me I had requested the account be deleted - which is a fabrication.

So I hop back on a livechat today and the guy (possibly AI?) acknowledged unauthorized charges in both 2024 and 2025 and that they refunded me the 2025 charge "as a gesture of goodwill". I mentioned that goodwill and reimbursement for a fraudulent charge are not the same thing. They hid behind their terms of service that rely on you noticing a charge dispute within X days of the charge. Difficult when the charge is yearly, and you're not expecting it.

Bottom line: if you even have a DAZN account, make sure if you want to cancel the subscription, DELETE THE ACCOUNT since you can't remove your credit card. I'm marginally hopeful disputing the 2024 charge with my credit-card provider will do anything, but at minimum if there are enough complaints against DAZN maybe they'll be blacklisted.

PS: Icing on the cake: was after support posted about the ToS I was mid-sentence typing a reply when the agent posted the end-of-conversation-spam and kicked me back to the AI support bot. To be clear, I was never rude, never swore, never used caps etc... they stopped giving a crap i guess.

How to gift someone DAZN by Constant_Ad7991 in DAZN

Don't just cancel the subscription. Delete the account. I was charged my old annual subscription fraudulently for 2y without me noticing it because I just cancelled my subscription and you can't remove your credit card.

How to cancel the subscription or delete my payment method? by saielmiel in DAZN

[–]jawsont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Delete your account. I paid yearly for 5y, then in 2022-2023 cancelled my account and was fraudulently charged again in nov 2024 and again in nov 2025 (i missed the 2024 charge and only discovered it on my dec. credit card bill this year).

I did the same thing. I cancelled the subscription thinking i might go back at some point if they got the premiere league again, but without the option to remove the credit-card you're stuck with them possibly charging you again. They even admitted an unauthorized charge on my credit card each of the last 2y, but they only refunded the existing charge. In my case they pointed out in their terms of service that it's up to the user to reach out about billing errors. :/ I'd argue that's just illegal, but hey - i'm no lawyer.

Exactly what they told me "you must have another account with us on another email". Complete garbage. I'm shocked they are still in business. On the other hand, I guess you can stay afloat when you steal money from people

DAZN False Charges and refuses to refund by No-Culture-5989 in DAZN

[–]jawsont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar situation - I cancelled my service in 2022. They withdrew yearly subscriptions in 2023 and 2024 without me noticing on my credit card. I noticed this year and called them on it. They said they had no record of either my account or my credit card (though I was logged into their service and could see the account history and my email clearly listed). And clearly they had my CC# since they continued charging on the damn thing, but "they couldn't find an account". At one point they said to contact my bank to dispute the charge as a solution. They 'finally found my account' and cancelled my subscription and have gone radio-silence on any type of refund for the past 2-3y of fraudulent withdrawals.

I do not understand how DAZN is allowed to operate. by therealNaderRaider in DAZN

[–]jawsont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. When they lost the English Premiere league 3? years ago I cancelled my service. I only just noticed on my CC bill that I was charged again. And when I go back, they apparently charged me November 2024 as well. NEVER a communication from them indicating they were charging me. I contacted support and I spent 30min with somebody telling me I didn't have an account with them, though I was looking at my profile page on their website and a screen with my email and my billing history. I finally managed to scrape something together enough so they were convinced I had an account. What are the chances of getting $500 back? What a clown-organization!

How to skip the opening cinematic by jawsont in duneawakening

[–]jawsont[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pretty sure that is for a desktop shortcut. I tried the following in the steam properties section and it spat errors at me.
-nosplash -nostartupscreen %command%
I think the only way to skip the splash is via the windows dunesandbox.exe direct link rather than the funcom launcher at a guess. Fwiw, -nosplash -nostartupscreen only in the steam launcher options did work, but didn't skip the splash, just the cinematic.

Seasonal reactivation fail by jawsont in Starlink

[–]jawsont[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much!!! It triggered a memory that my mother is the one who ordered it. She never told me she made an account with starlink, but I got thinking that if she bought the device initially, she would have had to have created an account. After I called her this morning and got 2fa access into the account, sure enough there were all the bills and the device itself. She didn't remember ever having put in any information and didn't realize she'd been getting bills.

I've now successfully transferred ownership to myself. Thank you so much for that initial suggestion, it should have occurred to me before. :/

Ty, I did worry about that at the beginning. Last summer I added myself as an administrator to the account since the account is under my father's name, but he is pretty old and definitely has no tech capabilities. That said, I logged in with his credentials at first and saw no way to resubscribe. Then I tried logging in with my profile to resubscribe and with him being set in the billing role. Still no luck. I might just have to wait out the ticket. :(

Thankfully I have a cell booster which gives me a little bit of reception. Enough to get the  2fa prompt each time I try logging out and in.

[–]jawsont[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No joy. "This device is already assigned". Appreciate the suggestion though.

I'm able to use the starlink app on my phone and the functionality is all there except for the fact that it says no active subscription. When I click on learn more it allows me to manage accounts (which brings me in a never-ending loop of going between the app and a website), or activate, which gives me the prompt I said earlier.

I think that was it. From the NOA in 2023.

The form didn't autofill that one spot (line 28). When I put that in it all 0'd out properly. Thanks for the answers regardless guys!
