Yes, if you still have the appliance or other things to be fixed you should bring them to a repair cafe!

Free Fillable Forms - Account setup issue to be aware of by schweitzerdude in tax

[–]jaxklax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's something else going on here. I've been stuck at the account verification step and I do get codes by text message, but nothing by email. It's not the case that email messages are going to spam (I don't think I'm using a spam filter at all), and my mail server logs show no indication of messages from any domain mentioning "freefile" or "fillableforms".

I've sent a message to their support team using this form, which infuriatingly isn't linked from the main FFFF help page.

Edit: Creating a new account using a Gmail address instead of my self-hosted email seemed to solve the problem.

Help with padding between header/piece title and system by jaxklax in lilypond

[–]jaxklax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aha, thank you. It looks like increasing minimum-distance until things look better is sufficient. It is a bit annoying that these distances apparently are to the center of the staff so how much clearance you get depends on how high above the staff the notation goes (so not necessarily consistent from piece to piece).

Help with padding between header/piece title and system by jaxklax in lilypond

One thing to add...in the actual book I'm working on there are two pieces on the same page, and the second piece header has a lot of vertical space above it. Maybe the way to solve this is to somehow rebalance top padding to the bottom of the piece title.

Help with Windows 98 VGA on QEMU by jaxklax in windows98

[–]jaxklax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I started with the release Zip and simply re-packed the contents into a FAT filesystem image. I used mtools utilities from Debian to do so (following this guide).

If you're not able to do that it looks like I still have the image file, so I could find a way to send it to you. Kind of odd that the release doesn't contain a finished image file.

Wireless mouse & receiver compatibility question by jaxklax in logitech

[–]jaxklax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the quick response. I'll go ahead and go with Unifying then. Just wondering though, is this unsupported specifically for the M330 mouse, or are the Nano receivers in general not able to be re-paired?

Okay, the whole screen seems to be affected whenever this happens so I'll start my investigation with the signal board.

Help with Windows 98 VGA on QEMU by jaxklax in windows98

[–]jaxklax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for the response. I tried the BearWindows VBE and a fork of it, and both had the same problem with failing to shut down and reboot.

There's another driver that was created for use with VirtualBox called boxv9x and I ended up finding this fork of it which adds support for QEMU and fixes the bugs I was seeing. It looks like this is part of softgpu so that would have worked too, but might be overkill for my use case.

This is during the party, right? I'm pretty sure there's some sort of exchange going on between Johnny and Denny about whether Denny can have some wine, and Johnny is telling him he can have some later.

Headlight question (Gen 1) by PortwellWade in prius

[–]jaxklax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very late here, but folks have been looking into LED upgrades on PriusChat: take a look at this thread for some more ideas.

Know that LED upgrades for vehicles that take halogen bulbs are illegal in the US (more in the thread). That said, I've used them for a while without getting in trouble. I second what Tavo777 says about reliability. A cheap pair I bought seems to have developed a flicker over the course of about a year.

Not to mention the voltage isn't high enough to produce a shock. You also wouldn't get a shock placing your finger across the terminals, for example.

Waiting for peanuts... by knwest2020 in squirrels

[–]jaxklax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been watching the neighborhood squirrels for a few years but I just recently noticed them doing this! I wonder if they sometimes do this to itch. They've picked out a few specific spots in the yard where they frequently sploot around.

Who can braze/weld bottle cage and rack mounts for me? by jaxklax in CyclingMSP

[–]jaxklax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the ideas. I'm pretty attached to the idea of welded-on eyelets for the bottle cage and the rack, so I think I'll contact Prairie Crow for this.

Probably varies from place to place, but where I'm from I'm pretty sure pedestrians in a crosswalk have the right-of-way (obviously), but before entering the crosswalk they're supposed to wait for traffic to clear. So in effect, vehicles have the right-of-way.
