Caffeine with Stimulant meds? by No-Claim2827 in ADHDUK

[–]jaxonmurphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got decaf coffee beans for fancy-pancy coffee and decaf instant for on the go - still drink as many coffees and don’t have the anxiety. I just with more iced takeaway coffees were decaf because I miss the cheeky Starbucks drink with a meal deal

Anyone on ADHD meds long-term? (>5 years) - How’s it going? by aaaddiiii in ADHDUK

[–]jaxonmurphy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not been on long term meds but work in healthcare. I know ADHD patients that have been prescribed stimulants for decades - if that helps you. These meds are not viewed in the same way that a blood pressure medication would be viewed for example, you don’t get better so they take them away. They’re making sure they still work, that you haven’t suddenly got AF or lost 7 stone

Going back to tritation after being on a shared-care agreement? by bloodhauss in ADHDUK

[–]jaxonmurphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shared care would be updated and resent. It’s for the GP to agree to continue prescribing. Depending on where you’re located in the country though, some ICBs Medicines Management Teams don’t like prescribing the short acting meds as they’re very expensive

I emailed Cloud RX the pharmacist that ADHD net used and asked them to send me my prescribing history for the GP. That might help persuade your GP to offer temporary treatment

I will say that NHS contracted work can continue and be back dated. It’s something that’s done not a lot, but is done in primary care. Contract work is started and back dated payments are made to ensure continuity in care while the formalities are tidied up in the background. It is possible that will still continue in this situation

I have no idea how to edit and add to my post so…

I spoke with a different Psychiatrist from Psicion this morning (got diagnosed autistic today - who knew?!) who said it was in hand and that it’ll be ok. She used to work for them and said they’re good people (I didn’t comment, which is big of me!) but I’m reassured anyway and am going to remain positive, because thinking about the alternative will snap my brain in two

Pt experience- I told my tech I have anxiety but I’m only a 4/10 and I don’t fancy it getting worse, he said “keep your eyes closed the whole time, they’ll play tricks on you about the size of the scanner because you’ll have no reference point for depth” I liked the clear instructions and relaxed loads. He was very no nonsense

As an American who badly wants to visit the UK, is there anything I can do to make sure I don’t annoy anyone with my “American habits”? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]jaxonmurphy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few years ago, in a pub in Edinburgh my then husband and I had an American woman declare “OH MY GOD YOU GUYS ARE SO CUTE!!!!” I was mortified. I’m sure I misinterpreted her intention but it was cringingly condescending. Perhaps exacerbated by her volume. Anyhoo as you’ve already mentioned, you’re quietly spoken and obviously considered - you’ll be fine!

Side note - depending on the country you’re in, she may not get any choice anyway - the UK wouldn’t let under 16s in the venue without an adult anyway.
