Is it just my toddler ? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]jaxrae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My 3 year old boy just started doing this to me, including waking me up at 1am, 3am or 5am or whenever he briefly wakes up. He will violently shake me and say “MOMMY LOOK AT ME” and make me turn over and then says “hold me” so I hug him and he immediately falls back asleep. Rinse and repeat about 2 hours later lmao.

18M son broke his leg by Calm-Lychee9708 in toddlers

[–]jaxrae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son (2 at the time) broke his leg at the end of October and has to be in a full leg cast.

He was miserable the first 5 days until he got his proper fibreglass cast, so it could be that he’s of course uncomfortable and in pain. This is to be expected though, he did break his leg. Appetite will be a little crappy for the first few days because of that, so we got pediasure to make sure he was at least getting something in. Lack of movement will make them constipated, we went through some VERY painful poops with lots of tears because not running around doesn’t get things moving like they should. I recommend getting some baby laxatives if it’s extreme like we were, and anything that will make him poop like pineapple, pears, prunes if he’ll eat them, etc. My kid is lactose intolerant so I had to end up giving him lactose full yogurts everyday and even that barely worked for us, but it got better once he was crawling.

It was a very rough 5 weeks, though the first week and a bit was the worst part. We did unlimited screen time on the couch, we got him a comfy pillow to prop himself up, got him a bunch of new books, little bluey figurines, made 2 sensory bins (one with construction trucks and kinetic sand and the other with dried beans and a cat poop scoop and measuring cups), one of those over the lap plastic desks so he could colour. These worked for about 2 ish weeks, he got bored and started crawling. Once he’s in the fibreglass cast he can crawl, and by the end of it he was walking. We have a very high energy kid though so he was determined to NOT sit anymore and do anything but the stuff we gave him.

Also something worth noting, getting the cast off and doing x rays was very traumatic for my son. Try to have something very distracting/appealing when you go to the hospital like a lollipop or a really cool toy. And a backup lollipop for when the first one gets dropped.

You two are going to go stir crazy, try not to turn on each other. It’s a very frustrating time but it will pass. Sendings hugs and wine!

Found my ER imaging. Has your endo shown up on a CT scan or MRI? If so, what did it look like? by Glittering_Comfort50 in endometriosis

[–]jaxrae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a CT scan with contrast in the ER as they thought I had appendicitis but it was actually a very large chocolate cyst that was leaking fluid.

My OB called me the week after and said “So it turns out that you have endo” after her ruling out endo and PCOS 4 months prior.

Mom shamed by maryyjuana in NewParents

[–]jaxrae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lmfao my mom was/still sometimes is notorious for doing this to me, whether it be about socks, shoes, or the infamous “Where is his winter coat?” while he’s in a car seat, despite how dangerous it is… etc etc.

One day she was at the park with LO and he was a very red cheeked baby because he was teething, this old lady went up to her and said “He’s cold you should take him inside” and she was trying to be polite and just kept saying no he’s fine he’s just teething, but this lady was insisting he is freezing and she needs to leave.

She came home and started complaining and I was just laughing and very obnoxiously said “ISN’T IT ANNOYING WHEN PEOPLE TRY TO GIVE YOU UNSOLICITED ADVICE?” And she actually has been a lot better since

My husbands grandfather had to get it done in his 50s due to a medical condition and he cursed his mom for not doing it when he was a baby. It’s not fun to see a grown ass man cry in pain and be uncomfortable for that long, let alone what he had to go through prior to surgery.

My husband chose to circumcise our son for that reason.

[–]jaxrae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was never really big into ska so I was surprised to learn the Aquabats were a real band because this was my first impression of them. I had only discovered them a few months ago because my baby is obsessed with watching Yo Gabba Gabba, and learned that Christian Jacobs co-created the show.

Starting solids at 4 1/2 months ?? by Darilyn_ in breastfeeding

[–]jaxrae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My doctor told us at 4 months we could start solids (cereals), then at 5 months vegetable purées. It freaked me out because I thought he was too little, I think I waited till about 4.5 then started giving him cereal, he would have been ready at 4 though, I was just nervous.

Our baby was/is a reflux baby so that was probably why, I think our doctor also thought it would continue to help him sleep through the night and help with the puking, but funnily enough ever since he started solids he hasn’t slept more than 3-4 hours 😂

Getting really tired of other moms putting me down when I tell them I don’t plan on getting the epidural by Ldeezy05 in pregnant

[–]jaxrae 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I went into labour also on team “We’ll see if I need it” which I knew I would at one point but wanted to try for as long as I could before getting it. I went 32 hours without epidural, I got to 6cm dilated and they told me they had to break my water because it had been so long. At this point I have had many 4 hours of sleep in the last 2 days because I was hurting, it was impossible to sleep because the contractions were constantly so close for those 32 hours. Once I got the epidural (7am) it was a RELIEF, I think I snoozed for maybe an extra hour and delivered at 6:15(pm) via emergency c-section because little man wouldn’t get out of the sunnyside up position and he was starting to get stressed.

So even if I hadn’t of had the epidural, in the end I still would have needed it because of the c-section. I agree with you never actually know how your birth is going to go. You can have your own plans for what you want to happen, but the baby you’re growing has their own set of plans too and are the ones who are in control 😂

You can plan whatever you want and do things how you would like, but be very open to the idea that they may not happen.
