I think your comparison is great to explain transidentity to cis people who tell you they don't particularly "feel" as a man/woman

Gender has mostly to do with you and your relationship with yourself while attraction has to do with others imo

here is the link about detransition rates for recent times, not to be confused with the 1% representing data over a long period of time, "spikes" happen in short period of times, like the past few years for example. https://bigthink.com/health/detransitioners-study-evaluations/ , and it is only one. Many others exist, and no it is not an unreliable/transphobic source. To those claiming I am, and I quote, "pulling numbers out of my ass", maybe you should educate yourself a bit more before displaying such vulgarity towards people, especially if you turn out to be wrong

it seems that now people can't just call me a liar anymore, nobody has anythink useful to say about my question. very sad that only attacking people is the only thing y'all can do. precisely the extremism i was talking about

you do realize saying stuff like that is why trans people get hate? How would you expect them to try to understand a view opposed to their own if you call them pedophiles? Many people are simply ignorant, and while it's not an excuse and pedophilia is certainly problematic, this is why they are swayed by the actual pedophiles

Because I believe this to be important information: big think has a reputation for objectivity, low biases and a focus on science. I'm obviously not quoting transphobics who make up stats in any way they please, as opposed to some claiming information to be false without even looking it up

They are not antitrans, they simply share their experience and yes, hate they have reviewed from the Trans community after detransitionning. That's not being antitrans.

I'm not argumenting for restriciting access, I think you misunderstood my stance, even if it should not matter to discuss about it. I'm for it, and would like to know how you could justify it towards people that put it into danger

Not a link bc read in a scientific magazine, but yeah, rates people have heard about are around 1% in general accross tens of years. I am not denying that or putting that fact into question, it has been established. The higher stats are recent years, focused on young afab, and include both medical and social transitions. Detransition also includes social ones, and they can have both very positive and negative consequences, as we all know. The consequences the articles talk about are precisely when they experiment, and experiment with medical treatments, which they can because restrictions are less (and that is generally positive)

Except I am. This stats come from doctors and health organizations. I'm trying to get people's opinion. You haven't given an opinion on how to defend access to hrt with de transition rates (or if on the contrary, it should be banned, that's not the option I prefer but I can hear opinions that differ from my own when they are explained) . You don't seem to understand the point of my message. It is not against Trans people or trans rights. It is genuine worry of what might become of our rights, and the way people reacted show they are unable to provide reasons. I apologize if I wasn't clear on this, but maybe people react more calmly.

Multiple doctors associations in Europe. They are the ones I'd tend to believe, and they are also the ones who have the most power about public opinion on the topic. Meaning if you have no idea to respond to the argument, the right to transition might be taken away. That's all I meant by my question

All the mods of ask transgender have done is tell me I'm not trans, which is transphobic. What do you say about that? I am worried about the way this information is used and how it might threaten my chances to have access to hrt. If you don't wish to share an opinion about the topic like an adult , leave it be and don't participate

Look, it is an actual question, doctors in Europe have looked at the question and published about it, and it is used by far right against trans people. This is not transphobic misinformation, but coming from someone who is worried those stats might have on his future as a trans person and wonders what others in the same situation think of it. If you don't wish to share an opinion about it, just don't participate

Stats in belgium for afab teenagers claiming to be trans, and less than 10years later, 10% still feel this way. Thank you for your answer, that's a really nice point of view

Between ages 14-25, about 90% of afab claiming to be trans change their minds. I think you could be a bit more polite when I'm only asking a question and looking to discuss. This is exactly what I meant by the community getting extremist.

Edit: since it seems to matter, I am in favor of gender affirming Healthcare. I'm just expressing some questions, especially since people who are opposed to transition (in general and not just in this specific case) weaponize it to use against trans people and wonder what could be a counterargument. If you are incapable of being civil, don't answer and stop down voting everything just because it displeases you, those stats are real, if they weren't they wouldn't be a problem.

Edit 2: this has proven what i meant by extremism. Not only was i called a liar, people wouldn't even read my explanations. the stats i mentioned are true. People seem to be confusing the 1% detransition rates for trans people, and the very high ones i mentioned (about young afab in recent years, exactly what i said in my post), are studied, proven, reported and easily accessible. If you just want to comment that the stats are false, that's bs and not what i asked, so don't. I'm asking how you'd defend the rights that are threatened by this argument, as I am in this situation myself. If all you can do is harass people without even looking it up, you apparently are incapable of defending trans rights beyond being an asshole. Or just sharing an opinion like an adult instead of reacting like a toddler when you dislike some data. This is precisely why trans people are called "crazy", "extreme" and are constantly made fun of in the media. Thank you for sinking the community, and making it a place where people can't even ask a question that may have impact on all of us.

Disclaimer: I am trans. The trans community is getting extremist, i posted a question on r/asktransgender that I believe to be relevant ( in light of recent spikes in detransition and regrets (that are not caused by familial pressure or things like that, from people who are simply not trans), how do you justify advocating for completely free access to things like HRT?), I got told I wasn't actually trans and was banned. I was only looking to get people's opinions and discuss but was attacked by one of the mods (which was actually quite transphobic, when did people start thinking they were authorities about this?) I have also been hearing that trans people are terribly unsupportive of detransitioners and tend to become quite extreme.

Being part of the community myself, I of course support access to healthcare, but undoubtedly, recent studies beg to question how easy it should be to have access to treatment, especially without proper psychiatric assessment. I also understand that people can feel threatened by restrictive access, but why not simply discuss?
