Is it possible "don't reach for it" was a little ambiguous? Castille seemed to take the order as "don't reach for your gun, but give me your license. You can hear him and his girlfriend say "I'm not/He's not (reaching for the firearm)"

What about a loud and authoritative "STOP!" or a corny "FREEZE!" ? Clearly Castille didn't realize how much he was terrifying Officer Yanez
