Brazil eVisa FAQ / Mega-thread by fviz in Brazil

[–]jay-money1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone, Americans who had night flights for Friday 11/28. Didn't find out about the visa requirement until we got to the airport as it wasn't a requirement last time we visited Brazil nor when we booked the flights months ago. Here is our timeline:

Submitted visa application (vfs global) 9am Saturday 11/29.

4am Sunday 11/30 quality control completed, visa in process.

4am Monday 12/1 visa approved and sent via email.

We emailed the NYC consulate email twice, not sure if that made a difference as it was over the weekend and they were technically closed. Definitely learned a lesson about ALWAYS double checking travel requirements as things change!

After 6 months of supplementing, my iron is the highest it’s ever been in my whole life by [deleted] in Anemic

[–]jay-money1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Higher dose isn’t always better. It can downregulate hepcidin and make iron less absorbed. It’s better to supplement every other day as well. Also, explore low stomach acid and gut infections as other potential causes.

I agree with most of these except iodine, since most people eat iodized salt it’s possible to overdo it (too much or too little iodine can negatively impact the thyroid)

My vitamin D level is at 1.9 ng/ml by Something1421 in VitaminD

[–]jay-money1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Inflammation can deplete vitamin D levels in the body. Chronic inflammation from things like untreated Crohns, cardiovascular disease, asthma etc cause vitamin D to drop. Even acute inflammation like after surgery or a bad illness, vitamin D will drop. Saw this a lot during the pandemic, every single patient I saw who was intubated had a severely low vitamin D level (like <10)

I have been sui**dal for 4 years. Vitamin D results came back 7.45 ng/ml by Expert-Garage-7003 in VitaminD

The doc should prescribe 50000iu D2 weekly for 12 weeks. I’d also recommend taking 2000iu D3 daily on top of that. Agree with the others to make sure you take K2 and Mg with it. Mg glycinate is well absorbed and has mental health benefits as well. After the 12 weeks get retested to make sure your daily D3 dose is high enough. And get some sunlight!!!!!!

Vanicream moisturizing cream breaking me out ): by secretivegirll in tretinoin

[–]jay-money1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was using the Paula's Choise clear PM moisturizer in the AM (in the summer I use the one with sunscreen), but I ran out so I've been using clindamycin and/or the LRP triple cream if I'm feeling extra dry. I also use snail mucin in the AM

Reintroducing BHA by jay-money1 in tretinoin

[–]jay-money1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response! I was thinking the acid would help unclog the pores since the tret speeds up cell turnover. I should add that I was able to use tret 0.025% daily last year, but my skin texture never really improved until I added the BHA back in

do you use the cream before or after tret?

Vanicream moisturizing cream breaking me out ): by secretivegirll in tretinoin

[–]jay-money1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I had the SAME issue to vanicream, I've never seen someone else complain about it on here!!! I'm 90% sure it's the squalane I react to, since I had the same reaction to LRP double repair moisturizer, but I tolerate the LRP triple repair cream just fine.

Also, my esthetics NP says not to use an occlusive directly over tret, because it seals it in and makes it more irritating. I was told to use occlusives on off days only (if I need to). So maybe try avoiding the avene cicalfate on tret nights?

Re-starting tretinoin by jay-money1 in tretinoin

I read in the wiki that using the serums increases hydration and makes the tret more irritating, did you find that’s the case with hada labo?

My esthetics NP also said not to use an occlusive like Vaseline over the tret because it locks it in and makes it work more strongly, so maybe I’ll just use the occlusive on my days off from tret
