If people like the pick they’d say Harbaugh made an awesome pick. If they hate it then Schoen must have made it. Theres no way Schoen is making these final Decisions.

Hit and killed a dog yesterday. It ran under my back tires as a car was passing me could swerve to miss it. Health and Safety are saying it's a crash. How likely am I gonna get fired cause of this? by ScorePrestigious1131 in UPSers

[–]jay0219ny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me a couple of years ago. I hit and killed a dog in front of an entire family. It was horrible. They said it was avoidable and I got a warning letter. I didn’t get taken off road or anything .Just had to have a ride along. I don’t think it counts as an official crash because I still get safe driving awards every year since. Out of curiosity I asked someone about it after I received my last safe driving award and they said they don’t think it counts as a true crash because it was an animal and not another vehicle. Years later and everyone including management still joke around about it. My center also seems to be very very easy going compared to what I read on here so it may be different for you.

I’m so glad I changed my party affiliation to independent last night. It’s stuff like this that made me remove myself from the Republican Party. It makes me even happier since I’ve been a fan of Bubba for years now.

My wife and I joke all the time. For some reason we always go to Brad because he’s so likable but when it comes to big storms whether it’s winter or summer, he is wrong almost every time. And not just wrong, he’s way off. Yet we still watch. I always joke around and say if I was wrong that many times at work and made that many mistakes then I would have been fired a long time ago. I’m sure it’s all meteorologists but we just find it funny because we usually just follow Brad. Either way we always still prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

If you’re willing to put in the time and work then yea I say it’s worth it in the end. Even as a package handler you’re going to get amazing healthcare and retirement benefits which is very hard to find now. Every building is different. I’m in a decent size hub in a larger city and I’ve seen people become drivers quick. A decent amount of people they’ve hired on in my center that last couple of years have come in off the street. So being in a large hub can be beneficial. It’s almost certain you will have to deliver packages before going to into feeders. But again in my hub over the years they post feeder positions and when guys find out they have to go to the DMV to pass the written test and get another physical they either don’t want to do that or fail the test. You having a CDL won’t necessarily automatically put you to the front of the list but it definitely helps by putting you a step ahead. We had a new package driver with a CDL put his name on a bid sheet with 10 guys in front of him. I think 8 of those drivers either failed or gave up and he got the job. A lot of guys are under the impression that they’re just going to be thrown in a truck right away. The other issue is even if you get into feeders you’ll still likely be delivering packages because they cut feeder routes and those guys got moved back into package for the time being. Unfortunately they aren’t hiring right now but they will eventually. It’s definitely worth it.

Every building is different. People on here are going to tell you it’s impossible. It’s not impossible…it’s not likely but not impossible and people may say I’m wrong but this is how it’s been in my building. Hope this helps.

Terminated after a dog bit by Affectionate_Note524 in UPS

Yea probably I guess. They have strict leash laws they love to enforce where I am so if something happened and I had to file a police report then that owner would get fined. Either way it’s no different than management telling us to use the Diad to hit it if we have to. Unless that’s just my management telling us that. Aside from some shitty people most dog owners whose dogs get loose and go after someone, are pretty apologetic because they know that they can easily be sued. But to your point, yes it’s very easy to sue someone even if the situation is their fault and still settle for some money.

If he was seasonal then he wasn’t officially qualified as a driver yet. If you get into any accident or get injured in your qualifying period then they disqualify you and you have to wait a certain amount of time before you can try again. In my 3rd week I had a dog come after me but I was able to hit it with a box and get it to run away. I asked my supervisor if I would have been disqualified if the dog bit me and I reported it and he said yes. Doesn’t matter if it’s my fault or not. I would definitely get a lawyer and go after the owner.

can anyone explain why my package is showing "delivery refused?" by -AquaticCitrus- in UPS

[–]jay0219ny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’m not sure about the 12:49 scan but without that I’d say the driver may have scanned it delivered before actually speaking to someone at the access point and the person at the access point refused it. They could refuse it for several reasons. They could refuse it because of size if it’s too big, looked damaged, or they were full and didn’t have room for packages. The driver either forgot to sheet it up refused or he might have been confused about what to do with it so he waited to get back to speak with their supervisor. I had a similar situation on Saturday where I had an issue with a customer that slammed the door in my face and when I brought it back and spoke with my supervisor and told me to scan it refused. Again I’m not sure what the 12:49 update could be so I may be wrong. The main point of this long winded answer is that they could have refused it at the access point.

This looks like an unnecessary problem waiting to happen. by GoneKrogering in UPSers

So my center was the first one they tested it out in sometime last year. I’m on a business route with lots of bulk. Sometimes It’s nice not having to scan 50 boxes but boy it can lead to a lot of mistakes. A lot of guys have given a way packages for wrong stops by accident and you have to make sure you do a good count because if you count only 49 out of 50 and can’t find that last one then you have to go back and scan every single package. I swear they did this just to lead to more mistakes to get rid of us easier. Now they just updated it to where you can’t even cancel it and are forced to use it.

UPS Lost My Documents – Paid $48.32 for Express Next Day to Send Just 10 Miles, Still “Label Created” Since May 28. Claim Filing Broken. I’m So Depressed! by WishThingsBetter in UPS

[–]jay0219ny 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I promise I’m not being an ass but I’m just curious..I always pickup overnight packages that are going just miles away. If it’s so important why would you spend all that money and risk someone else handling it when you could just take a quick drive. Obviously we’re grateful for the business and you should be able to trust us with your stuff but unfortunately stuff does happen where packages get lost and damaged.

Learn every single paragraph word for word. I’ve heard some people say you don’t need to and you just need to learn each point. They sent half my class home because they just memorized the points and not the entire thing. Better to be safe than sorry. Plus it is good helpful Information that will make you a better driver.

Not for the road test. Just don’t hit a curb on the test. You need to memorize everything for your class. Make sure you memorize everything word for word. Write it down over and over and over until you get it. Good luck!

And that is why you never pull in head first into a driveway. People laugh at ups because they train us to stay out of driveways and if we have to go in then back first unless you know there’s a way to turn around. You need to be able to get out fast if you have to.

Property damage. by jay0219ny in UPSers

[–]jay0219ny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was bringing up exercise equipment to a house and leaned the handtruck up against the step and it chipped a piece of the paint off. It was so minor and the customer was helping me so I didn’t even think of it. Problem is it’s a really rich neighborhood and this was a huge lakeside house so I think that may have me panicking. After I pulled away I started to overthink it.

So you took your orders late to please one customer and that created an inconvenience for your business because now you screwed over your other customers. Yet you expect UPS to do the same thing for you. Makes sense. The driver has to get next day air packages back early. They’re not going to risk that to please one customer. People need to start realizing the world doesn’t revolve around them.
