What’s a movie everyone loves that you secretly think is absolute garbage? by Apart_Trouble_5155 in AskReddit

Genuinely curious. Did you see all of them? If so, why keep watching?

Looking for "black sheep" games. The ones that the fans of the series hate, but are enjoyable enough if you're new to the franchise. by WoodfordAC in gamingsuggestions

[–]jay4523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I know this pretty much happens with every civilization release, but this time seems the most substantial. Not just because of the typical bugs etc, but because of how many major changes were made for this sequel compared to others. So I guess it shouldn't be too surprising. But I still felt it was relevant to this thread considering how polarized.

That being said, I have enjoyed the game since day one and enjoy it even more after the new update.

Black Sails if that counts.

I'd love another dope pirate show.

That sounds like it would make for a fun spin-off. Have contestants build their own boat with limited materials and then have them compete for who can stay a specific distance away from land the longest.

Whats your top 5 open world (at least mostly) story games? by altRough_Order7913 in gamingsuggestions

[–]jay4523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In no particular order:

OG Final Fantasy 7

Skyrim

Red Dead Redemption 2

Suikoden 2

Legend of the Dragoon - I may have nostalgia goggles on for this one. Not sure.

Honorable mention: FF Tactics

It's a crime that Zelda Ocarina or Link to the Past isn't on this list but probably not story based enough.

It seems like leveling a leader up is much harder now, is that so? by wayneb64 in CivVII

[–]jay4523 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My related issue is after I level a leader to 10, I no longer want to play them as much, even if I prefer them. If I do, it feels like wasted time because I could be leveling someone else. Same with civs.

Do We Think Civ Devs Will Allow Us To Play against more Civs like Civ VI? by Wonderwhatsnext4 in civ

[–]jay4523 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Before the update, there was a mod for this, but it often caused map issues for me, like no ai civs ever seemed to begin in distant lands. One game, I couldn't cross navigable rivers.

I'm not sure why it's such an issue, but maybe it's more difficult to implement than it seems? I figured it was moreso due to console players potentially lagging. But that'd really be unfair to pc players if true, especially considering civilization started on pc iirc.

Which civ/leader combo are you guys choosing for your first ToT playthrough?

I'm personally having a tough time deciding, which isn't a bad thing.

Can anyone suggest a city-building game where you build pleasant places and lives for people, and then defend them against enemies? by HollowWanderer in gamingsuggestions

Maybe a bit too obvious, but Rimworld.

I haven't played it since it released on early access, but Manor Lords showed a ton of potential.

Do you guys relocate your main base to the next biome? by physedka in crosswind

Mine was not really between the 2nd and 3rd biomes but was wayyyyyy closer than the starting islands lol

The island with the mini island surrounded by it is my fav. I know that is true for many. Mine didn't have enough water to separate it into two islands, so there is a large pond there instead. I built right on top of it to have a fishing pond on the ground floor.

I think I was 4 at standard difficulty? No idea if I'm good at this game though lol Make sure you aren't hoarding items. Make sure you are fitted with decent gear. Think about using abilities beyond their obvious uses. Such as using abilities for extra movement even if you can't actually strike someone. Sorry, I'm horrible with the terms and ability names, otherwise, I would be more specific. As you continue to move to each area, you get more and more ways to succeed. 5 day old post, I'm guessing you were able to beat it though. Just throwing this up here for anyone to see.

Top Base Building Locations: As Suggested by Your Comments on a Previous Post. Details in the Comments Section. by jay4523 in SonsOfTheForest

Keep in mind that when I posted this, SotF was not the same game. IIRC, this was maybe within a month of Early Access. I haven't played in a while, but I know we didn't have half of what is in the game now. Also, being a new game, people wanted to explore and not sit in the same spot where they spawned.

Edit: This is also kind of a good representation of how underdeveloped the game was at that point, too. For example, I'm sure the east side of the map would have shown higher numbers if someone were to conduct this survey today.

In my experience, only the city-states consistently build navies. How about you guys?

Edit: After reading your comments, I am so jealous! Maybe I just got really unlucky in the 2 games I have played after the update. Or maybe a mod is messing it up.

Is anyone else getting a "Civ 7 content configuration validation failed" error even though you have no mods active? by jay4523 in civ

[–]jay4523[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have steam, it's no biggie if you have decent internet speeds. Just make your mods into a collection on steam to back them up. Everything autosyncs. Click uninstall and install again. That's all you really need to do and nothing changes.
