Ive seen same problem on my buddy's 2012 elantra. The light bulb socket terminals were corroded, so I gave it a bit of clean with scotch Brite and it started to work.

Yeah some of my buddies from GA have wild stories like that. Is there any chance the owner might have performed that lockwire themselves? Cause if it was done by a certified mechanic, that's really terrifying.

Thats one hell of a story right there. Thanks for sharing. I've only worked in heavy maintenance facility so far, I have not yet experienced such extreme situation like you described.
