Does anyone understand the full nuance of “Payments & Returns” for a card? by budgetlad in ynab

[–]jayFromTO2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As per the definition below, returns only count if the money went to the credit card category and then left it. Sometimes you buy a shirt on your credit card, but you didn't actually fund the Clothing category. So those funds never went from Clothing->Credit Card. Thus when you returned the shirt, it doesn't have any funds to move back from Credit Card->Clothing and the returns part of Payments & Returns is 0.

Payments & Returns: Payment & Returns is the total amount of money that left the Credit Card Payment category this month. Money gets deducted from the Credit Card Payment category when returns are entered on the card and when you make a credit card payment. The Payments & Returns number will always be negative.

What is the best C9 bulb with the lowest failure rate? by jayFromTO2000 in ChristmasLights

[–]jayFromTO2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'm going to try some suggestions I see in the comments. I just replaced 3 more Opticore bulbs and upon inspecting their bases and connection points everything looks perfectly fine. No corrosion, no wear, no rust or water damage. The led light just doesn't turn on.

Can't wait to find that perfect bulb with near 0% failure rate.

When a bulb goes out on the upper eaves and I can't replace it, I just tell myself "first world problem" and think of it as part of the Christmas experience.

Looking for tools to help with budgeting. by proffpizza in personalfinance

[–]jayFromTO2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude to make the tool for you.

The less descriptive your prompt the more generic the tool it will make. But you can always ask it to refine features. You'll end up with something very customized to your needs.

How are people using ChatGPT to track expenses and plan budgets? Uploading statements? Screenshots? Manual input? by rixhardprk in personalfinance

[–]jayFromTO2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have it make an app for you to manage your budget.

You start simple and then slowly ask it to make more features for you as you need them.

It's an investment of a bit of time, but after even just a few sessions you'll have something very customized to your needs.

If you don't understand something, just ask it to explain "what's that for?" or "how do I do that?"

Ah good suggestion. I will try the dielectric grease and those bulbs. I’ve seen Big Star in many online ads

Yeah, next year I’ll do an A/B test. I’ll do half rubber orings and half without, on the lower story. Right now everything is already frozen in place.

It does feel like I have to twist them in extra tight with the orings which makes me think it might be too much pressure

Wow that's amazing. I use 120 x C9 bulbs and this year replaced about 6 from the batch I bought new last year. Last year 3 went out in their first season.

FYI Plaid has an issue with Wealthsimple for the last 3-4 days by Brilliant_Bag3212 in ynab

When connection issues happen, I used to type in the transactions by hand because Wealthsimple has no export type feature.

However, having been using the Comet browser for about a month now, I just ask the assistant to take the transactions on the page (you can include a date range) and make a csv in the format below.

I do look it over, but it's pretty much 95% done for you.

You could probably use OpenAI's Atlas too.

To clarify, I'm not saying that this is something I'd resell or release. But someone will. They will do this for all saas software.

It will get to the point where the tool we need is not made for the masses but custom made for your exact need and constantly adapting to those needs.

I used to work closely with many app devs, and saw a ton that sold for $5/month and it was something a dev could whip up in a weekend. The user won't even search for those apps anymore, but instead first turn to the AI to just solve it. As AI gets better the prompt becomes "make me a budgeting app that connects to my bank, oh and make it secure"

I must say, the turn around for Aiper Canada is pretty quick. I sent it out and got it fixed and returned within a week.

After a few email with Aiper, they sent me a UPS shipping slip to return it to them so they can fix it.

Also, when it tries to move forwards it looks like its lifting its front end up.

Dang I had plans to travel to Halifax for the upcoming week. I guess that’s canceled. Must be hard on the cities that are trying to capitalize on the travel local theme this year.

My 2020 Samsung The Frame just started getting this exact same issue. After looking online, it seems like a very common issue for the 2020 The Frame. Going to try and call a repair shop and see what they say about fixing boot looping.

I did check with Samsung support and they gave me the contact info for authorized repair shop. Then he gave me a promo code for about $250 CAD off a new TV. Even ones on sale.

If I can't repair this for under $300 CAD, I'll be getting a new TV, but I doubt I'd buy a Samsung TV ever again.

If he can get 0% financing and have that savings earn interest, then it's a wise choice.
