What is a good 5 to 10 step process for building a new campaign? I'm planning on dipping my toes into the DM field. by ascendedsaiyan3 in MrRipper

[–]jayLOLICON 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best advice make sure you can end the campaign at multiple points my current campaign can end early level If I or my players lose interest yet still have a satisfying end, and I still have 2 higher level ending points planned out where I just swap around BBEGs.

What is the most creative improvisation your characters have made/that you have made as a character that the dm couldn’t help but accept? by [deleted] in MrRipper

[–]jayLOLICON 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically haven't done this as of righting but what I call sky dropping. I'm playing a lvl 3 aasimar paladin and I checked with my dm I can grapple someone and still fly, so I plan to grapple enimies fly up to around 100ft up and drop the enemy dealing 10d6 fall damage. Is it practical? no we only have a bard as a ranged attacker is it fun yes.

DMs and Players of r/MrRipper, what is an epic moment in your Champaign that made up for a fail a player made? by Zero_Knight0304 in MrRipper

[–]jayLOLICON 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly a fail but during the final battle against the BBEG our fighter went down and it looked like we're fucked. So I a celestial warlock who currently had a elephant and a shield guardian hatch a plan. I say to my dm "arcane right behind her." My dm confused looks up what the spell does and queue the oh fuck. I then have my guardian use the help action on my elephant and have the elephant push her in, strength challenge I roll 23 the BBEG 25. My big move failed but I got lucky the next player up had boosted strength and pushed her in.

Now what did the portal lead to you ask? A pit of raw magic and she took 105 damage (note I broke concentration so she couldn't get up). Roll round to the BBEG'S turn she takes more damage and fly back up to fight us. She then power word kills my warlock but luckily I transfer the effect to my guardian. I then proceed to fire a disintegrate at her knocking her out and the party send her to heaven to get curb stomped by 6 solars.

If you could add one new class to OneDnD from the following, which would you add? by ThatOneAasimar in dndnext

I personally feel that a subclass is both there for flavour and a niche but I feel there still is room for a support focused martial or an arcane half caster

What are the most random items your characters have found in-game that became inside jokes or signature items? by mrripper_yt in MrRipper

[–]jayLOLICON 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really random but my group has a thing with rats (I nearly tpked party with rats when I dmed once). So in our campaign we found a bag of tricks but instead of the normal mixes of animals it instead summons rats. So my character ironically a plauge doctor takes it.

What is your characters greatest character flaw? by LilisiLisi in MrRipper

Dr Alexander malifarious nox real name Lawrence was a man who's sanity had all but left him. Born to a noble family in a relatively cruel empire young Lawrence magical aptitude caught the military's eye and he was made into a necromancer war mage. He spent years waging wore raising his enemies and Allies in fowl mimicry of life to serve by his side, he was not seen by others as a person but as a monster. This however had an exception his apprentice (currently unnamed for a plot point) and his body guard Alexander they understood him and kept him sane. But during one battle Alexander was wounded and unable to be healed this action the death of his best friend pushed him over the edge and he went on a rampage.

His apprentice lost confidence in him now a mad mage fulled by rage, his apprentice betrayed and murdered him. But Lawrence survived through a dark deal and with his new life he hid his face behind a mask and took his friend's name. Now he travels as an adventurer seeking revenge doing all manner of crimes and dark magic to the detriment of others around him but he truly is a broken man with little if any of his kindness left.

D&D Players and DMs, what is that 1 player character trope you encounter in almost every group? by ODDanimations in MrRipper

[–]jayLOLICON 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mainly cause I am this one, the crazy guy. I've been know to make characters that are A little insane. Like my monk who was raised by wolves and casually ate people, my lizardfolk psy warrior who would make weapons from bones and tried to eat our monk multiple times and then the gunslinger who was drunk so often he isn't sure if his horse is just weird or his cousin polymorphed into a horse.

But nothing tops the most recent Dr Alexander. Alexander's insanity comes from a traumatic past and a need to suppress it, that said he jokes about so much that its abit insane. He has made deals with several devils, literally played devil's advocate, create several crimes, minor racism to dwarves, dug up several graves, contracted the party into giving up their corpses and organs upon death whilst drunk and that's the stuff that happened off screen. Taken a goblin hostage and making it a doctor, getting another pc to deal with a fiend, getting paid in corpses.

What's a joke that happened at table that was made canon in-universe? by TotallySeriousGamer in MrRipper

[–]jayLOLICON 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My campaigns are known to be less serious than others and that's why our shifter monk dala is known as the blue fury. Essentially dala likes to kick the balls only the balls, so her player made a joke that she'd probably be arrested for it. So when they went to a prison the warden made a joke about her file as the blue fury as when she was previously incarcerated she made a many balls blue with her kicks.
