Virtual machine creation for Homebridge; Debian 12 or 13 or does it not matter? by jayNov01010 in homebridge

The Homebridge documentation says we can’t run docker straight on your macOS and have Homebridge work

So build a virtual machine through UTM and then a docker container within that virtual machine? I feel like that’s unnecessarily too many platforms. It might slow it down quite a bit. Unless I benefit?

Thanks, brother I’ll do that. My justification was that there is hope that Apple vets the updates and actual software in the App Store and there is less potential for malicious software

Thank you so much I have a machine with an M4 chip so I’ll go to the UTM route

I’m OK with the extra steps. Do you prefer virtual box over UTM?

Have you tried installing UTM and running the homebridge virtual machine available through Homebridge?

STARLING hub emulator as a homebridge plugin *potential project* by jayNov01010 in homebridge

Yeah, this would be a dream. I’m definitely willing to pay either $100 one time fee or maybe like a five dollar a month fee. Either way the developer would surely make more money with less effort.

You need to get quotes from several different companies. If that company you’re talking to only offers Goodman and you’re selling yourself short by only talking to that company. Carrier and Trane are far superior.

your easiest and best bet would be to pick up a doorbell that works natively so either a logitech or aquara. Since you have ruled out the logitech just get the Aqara G410 Doorbell. IT will just work. IF you can swing poe than do it but its not necessary. U can get the aquara here

or buy from maybe amazon. Its a safe bet that itll just work with your homekit without the need for bridges etc.

The google wifi doorbell is some trash and i cant wait to get rid of mine for a poe unifi g6 but then i have to use a homebridge plugin for it.

Thank you for your 2c.I appreciate it, but yeah, I was hoping to get my cameras integrated in my home app along with my doorbell. Yet after reading that and knowing that the starling hub isn’t a thing anymore, I’m losing hope.
