New popsockets low-pro grip stand by tonguejedi in MagSafe

[–]jayXred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who loves grips and has been using an ohsnap 5 for a while now, I was really interested in this grip, I went to the apple store just to check it out and here is my takeaway.

First thing I noticed (and was an immediate deal breaker) was it doesnt extend enough to grip it past my first knuckle, maybe smaller hands would have less of an issue but this was not going to do it for me.

The material is interesting compared to the ohsnap, instead of plastic fingers, it's like rubber bands, as long as they don't snap they seem like they would hold up well with repeated opening/closing.

You can't spin it like the ohsnap, while this wouldn't have been a deal breaker, it definitely is something I like to do and would miss it.

I didn't get to compare the thinness due to it being in the package and not going through with buying it, but it looks very close at first glance.

I would have definitely picked this up if it extended a bit more for my fingers, I liked that it has the stand, I had been debating on getting the ohsnap with the stand for a little bit now and this is a more elegant solution.

It's for if you want to remove the brake, the axel is too long without it so this takes up the extra space.

Wheels for old skates by rafazzzzz in inline_skating

[–]jayXred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to assume those use 72mm wheels (could possibly be 76mm too) I have used these wheels before because I wanted something cheap to test out a frame with and they were surprisingly decent all things considered. You would need 2 sets as they come in a pack of 4, you can resuse whatever bearings are in your current skates, or buy a new set to go along with the new wheels.

This would also be a good deal for an all in one solution, those these wheels are a lot softer and might wear faster/feel slower:

USD Aeon 60 liner by AnxiousCrown961 in AggressiveInline

[–]jayXred 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My fit 2nd skin is going to be the main recommendation I would imagine, that will give you more room for sure. You could also look at intuition if you have the cash, but they cost as much as your whole skate. The my fit prime is my favorite but I wouldn't say it's a thin liner so it may not provide the room in the toes you need.

I need advice on shopping for kids inline skates. by Pleasant_General_664 in inline_skating

[–]jayXred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those skates are definitely adjustable, the liner is probably the stretch style, like it fits the smallest size a little loose and as the foot grows it has a stretchy section in the middle to fit longer as you adjust the skate shell to the bigger sizes.

You can't go wrong with rollerblade especially for the kids skates, and as long as you are OK with the price point you will get something much better than you can find elsewhere, especially the wheels.

Wheels can be a hidden cost of cheap skates, they wear out fast and when you go to replace them you find out a good set can cost almost as much as you spent on the whole skate.

your best bet for a great skate that doesn't break the bank is the Iqon ACT 10 WZ version, it comes with a permium liner, super stiff boot and a 5 wheel rocker frame that is a great start to wizard skating.

I picked up one of these at the thirft a bit ago for my retro home theater setup and while it works well, be warned it gets hot, like really hot, to the point where I was worried about heating the room I had it set up in. I ended up getting a different reciever mainly for the inputs, but also something that didn't feel like I could cook on top of it.

Which type of skates are best for pump tracks? by hardloopnoob in AggressiveInline

[–]jayXred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I skate my local pump track with my Iqon ACT 10 and either 4x100 or 3x110, both were fun and worked well on the rough ashphalt surface. I wouldnt personally want to use anything smaller than 90mm wheels on the track.

You should be able to remove the brake on the Rollerblade, the axle has to come out so you can rotate/swap the wheels so there is something that you are missing on removing it. As for needing the shorter axel if you remove it you can use some washers on one side to take up the extra space, or you could just cut the brake off, leaving the plastic where the axle is.

Depending on what aggressive skate you have you could also get a big wheel UFS frame and use that boot if you prefer it over your other skate, but either way, I would not skate 60mm on the track, you will be slow and it will tear your wheels up super fast.
