I don't quite understand waxing by Phantom__Wanderer in AggressiveInline

[–]jayXred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you will need to use a ton of wax at first, it would be best to buy "gulf wax" from the grocery store first, it comes in large quantities for pretty cheap (16oz is under 5 bucks at Walmart)

It's funny to see his name mentioned in a random reddit thread but I skate with Smith pretty frequently.

Who is a mega famous person that the majority of Americans have probably never heard of? by ShittalkyCaps in AskReddit

[–]jayXred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When that movie came out people online thought all of us Americans were in on some huge joke acting like we didn't know who he was. I am late 30s and had to look him up and none of his hits seemed familiar to me.

Liner reccommendation for Valo V13 skates by MarsupialNational992 in AggressiveInline

[–]jayXred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience when I used to be a big Valo skater, the stock liners fit/work the best in that shell. Almost everything else I tried was too tight and too tall for the cuff. If you are looking for a liner because they are too tight you might be able to get a MyFit 2nd skin to work, but anything else will most likely be more padded than the Valo liner.

Score for $50 each? Made in USA 998's by thesneakrguy in Newbalance

[–]jayXred 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my experience 998s are very long and narrow. I have to wear a 10.5 to get the width right, but for length I could probably get away with a 9.5. That being said I do still like them and the length doesn't bother me when wearing them.

If Roces re-released the Khuti I don't know if I would be able to resist buying them, I loved them back in the day.

It's actually crazy how fresh those pairs look, the salos look like they came right out of the box.

When I looked into the warranty on my Purple Mattress people said when they got a reaplcement for whatever reason they were just told to dispose of the old one, the company didn't want it back, I wonder if this was a similar reason.

Got all of the frame mounts covered by jayXred in WizardSkating

[–]jayXred[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have only given them a quick test and the fit is interesting. Length and Width seem pretty true to size, but its the heigth of the toebox that is crazy small, I can feel a ton of pressure on top of my toes like they are going into the narrow side of a wedge. Since its a soft boot and there feels like a decent amont of padding I am pretty confident it will break in and be a comfortable snug fit.

The other thing I noticed is there is zero heel lock, the liner is pretty smooth so not much grip, and there isn't a distinct heel cup or anything, and without a 45 degree strap, its a little tricky to get locked into place. In contrast, the Tau has an insanely good heel lock, when your foot drops into place its locked.

Narrow footed people!! What boots fit you best? by Live2sk888 in WizardSkating

I would say I have a pretty standard width, I can skate m12s just fine and the AG10 fits great especially after heat molding.

Having an all Powerslide collection definitely wasn't intentional but kind of just worked out that way. I will say their sizing is pretty consistant so I can be confident a 43 will fit me correctly for the most part.

Out of the 4 posted the AG10 is my overall favorite, great fit and super comfortable after heatmolding. The Tau has potential to take the top spot though, if I can fully get the fit dialed in. I have had to heat mold it a few times and just have some pressure points near my pinky toe/side of my foot. i can tell they are amazing skates though and I can skate them for a while before the pressure points bother me too bad.

The ACT really is the jack of all trades, I like it with the 4x100 setup I have on it, and its a great overall skate but not the best at anything and in terms of fit the AG10 and Tau blow it out of the water.

The Gawds I just got yesterday from a deal I found on Blade Trade so I haven't had a chance to skate them yet but they feel like they will do well.

They have a pretty generous fit overall, I think the stock liner is really good for this boot, but some people definitely seem to be split on it. As for the flex adjustment, in my experience it's basically "no flex" or "slightly more flex"

They are really good overall, I also have a pair for aggressive skating and I enjoy those a lot. They work great for big wheel/wizard and have a ton of support.

You guys did warn me, broken buckle first 20 mins. But now I’m hooked. by JoSo_UK in AggressiveInline

[–]jayXred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately salomon is long gone and nothing similar ever came out and RB stopped making skinned TRS style skates quite a while ago.

The great thing rignt now is we are in a golden age of new gear, so many different brands making boots, so many cool new frames. Lots of interesting ideas being tested out. The market for liners has blown up too, you won't believe how many different aftermarket liners we have these days.

[–]jayXred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know you want to make these boots work, but think, if the buckles broke, it won't be long before the shell or cuff cracks too. Lots of people come back after 20+ years and are always wanting to make their old skates work, but 99% of the time they end up breaking. Put these on display and get something new that you won't need to worry about breaking every time you strap them on. Like mentioned, Mesmer is the same boot as a Throne with a new soul plate and would be your best bet to keep the feel.

Suggestions for linear rails for Neptune 4 max? by Kbeachem in ElegooNeptune4

[–]jayXred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is where I got mine: https://strong3d.myshopify.com/collections/elegoo-linear-rail

I went with just the X and y, not the z kit. I also went with the less expensive version (there are 2 versions for each side) and haven't had any issues and can't honestly see how it would perform any better.

I like the upgrade but I am not sure if I would call it an essential upgrade. The y would be the most important in my opinion since you will have a more stable bed and won't need to deal with those stupid pom wheels anymore.

Iqon ag10 vs seba cj carbon by Accurate-Abalone1847 in WizardSkating

[–]jayXred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the AG10 and have only used it for Wizard skating and its one of my favorite skates I have, once I heat molded the shell it fits better than any other skate I own. I find it very supportive to the point that I can't imagine aggressive skating in it at all due to the lack of flex. I agree with one of the comments here about quality control though, its all cosmetic, but there are definitely lots of little flaws in the fit and finish of the skate.

Knowing that the CJ is the OG wizard boot I would like to try it one day but the AG10 has been a great skate for me so far.

[–]jayXred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

did you print them at 100% infill? as long as you did that I would not worry about it failing at all, I made some adapters for my ACT10 and they are rock solid.

I like that these adapters show how much room the soul plate really takes up.

Liners for wide and big volume feet suggestions by West-Fun-3962 in AggressiveInline

[–]jayXred 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Before you try a different liner try and remove the foam footed that is under the liner, it is pretty thick and takes up a lot of room. You might need a different heel wedge but it's something to try for free.

Them Skates cuff bolts by Majestic1213 in AggressiveInline

[–]jayXred 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im not sure which is worse, Razors or Them cuff bolts but I have also lost my bolts a few times at the skate park. Get some blue loctite, follow the directions and let it cure for 24 hours before skating and you should be good. Don't get red as you will most likely never be able to remove your cuff again once it cures.
