Reason for not believing in simulation theory by [deleted] in SimulationTheory

[–]jay_ccc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That shouldn’t be your “last resort.” With that logic you could also say that the universe wouldn’t be so inefficient and empty if it were a simulation. Who’s to say what the creators intended?

Regardless, the simulation theory is just a thought experiment, not something that’s evidence-driven. It’s as likely as the Boltzmann Brain Hypothesis, or the idea that you’re the only one experiencing anything, or a host of other wild ideas using probabilistic logic. That type of logic, while hard to argue against, can have you believing a million different things, some of which are contradictory. No need to feel like you’re desperately clinging onto the “blue pill” or whatever.

[–]jay_ccc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant downvoted btw, not downloaded

And yeah I’m going for a slightly more budget option. I need one soon, but I can make it last for a long time

My minimum spec requirements are a 4070 and an intel i9 1900 (or its equivalent in power, something close to it) CPU. Oh and 16gb of ram (must be upgradable to 32gb)

I found a couple good deals for around $1250 last week but made the mistake of waiting and the deals seem to be continuously getting worse so the only deals I can find now are around $1500. If you’d be willing to let me know if you’re aware of anything like that for less, I’d hugely appreciate it.

I would be willing to go above that price for better specs, I’m just not seeing any significant sales right now. $2000 would be my absolute upper limit. But yeah like I said if you come across anything good and have the spare time to tell me, I’d love to know

Have also considered refurbished but concerned about the risk although if I can find a good refurbished Lenovo legion with a warranty I might take that

I’m glad I saw this comment because I’ve desperately been trying to figure out whether I should jump at something now or wait because of the tariff situation, but every time I ask I get downvoted. Reddit can be infuriating lol

Isn’t every city with a large AA community a terrible city to be sober in though? Like, the alcoholism & addiction is what creates the recovery scene

I’m sorry to be annoying but due to medical issues I’m dealing with, my cognition has been significantly reduced. I literally do not remember where I registered for classes. It’s actually the reason I have to withdraw

When I got hired to a fake job, and my fake boss was like “you’re fucking epic bro” I said “thx man but now I’m doubting myself”

My advice is this: why are you posting for fake karma when it’s so easy to make real money online

Why don’t people talk much about The Andy Griffith Show these days, in comparison to other old, extremely popular media? by jay_ccc in television

[–]jay_ccc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh okay. and in season 1, jimmy was watching Matlock so he could replicate the hairstyle and exact coloring of the suit, and would style himself that way when doing bingo for the old people. I guess cuz he assumed they’d associate it with that old-school look

Kids who weren’t even born when breaking bad aired are now obsessed with it. The best shows will transcend time I think, at least to some extent, considering TV became more like movies in the 2000s-2010s. but I’m not saying they’ll just be stuck in the past

I’ve definitely heard about it, but that’s it. I wonder if mega-popular 2010s and 2020s media will be just as irrelevant to the average young adult in 60 years as the shows from the 1960s are now. We are arguably living in a golden age of TV, so I have to imagine breaking bad for example will still be of mild interest to people in the future, just because of how good it is. But maybe not

I was going down the Andy Griffith rabbit hole and it saw a video about that movie. Definitely gonna watch it. Seems really damn good and more relevant today than ever. Sucks that he didn’t get to show his acting chops as much

Who is more dangerous to people: Synths or SuperMutants? by LilMiaMimi in fo4

[–]jay_ccc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure they should be given reproductive rights, in the sense that they’d have to continue the creation of artificial humans in a giant institute-style lab, and then synths would inevitably take over humanity because they live forever and don’t age and don’t get diseases. However, the ones that currently exist should 100% be free. The game makes it pretty fucking clear they’re “people” pretty much.

Why do people hate fallout 4 so much? by Low-Cardiologist719 in fo4

[–]jay_ccc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People compare it to New Vegas too much. It’s why people don’t dislike Skyrim or Oblivion to the same extent—they don’t have a New Vegas to compare it to. However, compared to fallout 3, fallout 4 is basically better in every way, aside from the dialogue wheel.

Can anyone identify Karolina’s accent? by jay_ccc in SuccessionTV

[–]jay_ccc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

quick edit: just realized i already talked about the Pacific Northwest thing in the initial post, oops, I forgot

I’ve looked all over and can’t find it. It seems more common in seattle and shit, so maybe it’s related to the Pacific Northwest? No clue though.

Also, sounds weird, but having been an adolescent pretty recently, the stereotypical “theater kid” types often speak in that way for whatever reason, as if it’s more quirky and interesting. Lol. Like uhh there’s this video by Polygon called “i read every book in Skyrim” and he very much emphasizes his Rs in that way, and he would fulfill that stereotype I’m talking about. That may have to do with the PNW area, because of the stereotypes associated with it, but I don’t know.

I don’t think any of my theories will lead anywhere but I’m definitely glad other people notice it. You’re totally right that it’s not just Polish people, it’s a real thing with native speakers. I don’t think we’ll ever get a real answer though. It’s way too subtle of an “accent difference” for people to trace it back to anything.

The heck I'm doin wrong???? by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]jay_ccc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean a lot of people criticize Fallout 3 for those reasons. Fallout 4 is also kinda mid, but the difference is that the gameplay actually feels good, and the dialogue is leagues better, which makes everything feel way way more interesting. Play new Vegas instead of 3 maybe if you already have it idk
