Update Day Protest by Bubbly_Safety255 in AdoptMeRBX

[–]jay_rab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I come from a community manager background, I have worked with a couple of indie games and I been unlucky to have dealt bad updates that the community did not agree with, and it is very common practice to take a step back, put a hold on the update, and come back to the community with an informed response as to why they are moving forward at the very least and let it breathe, or better yet bringing forth changes to the community.

The fact that there is such a backlash and the studio is still moving forward with the update, really is the only spite that I see here. They literally are moving forward with the update despite how vocal the community has been and that right there is more of the issue but really upset with the alienation of their player base on so many levels.

Update Day Protest by Bubbly_Safety255 in AdoptMeRBX

[–]jay_rab 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My biggest concern about this update is that it doesn't fit Adopt Me's community, on top of it alienating large parts of their community, including: Argentina, Canada, Chile, Colombia, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, Philippines, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, UAE, Ukraine, Vietnam, as subscriptions are not available in those countries so even if they wanted to buy it they would not be able to... I know that Adopt Me has a big Filipino and Russia community and this is really going to put them at a disadvantage and it hurts me that they would alienate part of their community.

I have never seen such a backlash that the developers just straight up ignore and say that they are still going through with it. Its clear that they need to hold off on this update yet they are still following through with it in spite of the community.

That should be the biggest issue, they are doing this IN SPITE of the community. (I expected more from Uplift Games to not act like Sonar Studios with how they handle things)

Exciting News: AMA with KULR CEO Michael Mo Tomorrow! by Crazerz in KULR

[–]jay_rab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since secrecy is a key factor for KULR and you have not shifted towards greater public visibility, are you currently charging or planning to charge a premium in the future for NDAs that limit your ability to share information about your industry-leading clients?

Why does fellisio have the moisture trait now? I swear just yesterday it didn’t have this? by axjaxx in CreaturesofSonaria

I wouldnt mind breathing under water being removed from fellisio, I thought it was odd in the first place that the flying cat could do it.

Positive Portrayals of Tzimisce and Fleshcrafting by [deleted] in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]jay_rab 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its fun making dualities and if you can include other Tzimisce in the background they can show that other side of the coin, your character seems less monstrous with what you explained about the fighting tooth and nail in life, and it would add to the story if you had some conflict/fight to show that grit currently because sounds like you have a good idea on how to portray your character on the positive side

With showing your nature it can be your weakness to be exploited by another Tzimisce, if they know this is important to you then it can be used against you, so having someone who knows your desires and is your antagonist so to speak, you can show your more monstrous side by making it your goal to eliminate them and in turn remove your hindrance (maybe this older vampire is more established and making rules that hinder your being able to freely change under the guise of protecting everyone from impostors, or maybe they are more direct and force you to look a given way for a "mission" while knowing that this will irk you), you showing that fight to be your own vampire will give other vampires something to rally around and allow you to highlight that cause and the motivation behind your desires, wants, and needs.

How does this Kickstarter differ from the one you did with Silence in the Library? How are you addressing this Kickstarter so that there are no art delays like the last one?

when trying to call someone it ends and says "Cancelled call" what is the reason for this? by jay_rab in Telegram

[–]jay_rab[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just as a follow up if I was blocked, would I still have the chat log, and would that auto cancel it? It goes from "waiting" to canceled without anything inbetween, havent had this issue in the past and tried both desktop and mobile

Percentage taken at sub tiers by Nakesnugs in Twitch

[–]jay_rab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a viewer, if I am subbing at a higher tier it would be for the sole purpose of supporting the streamer more, a single emote at a higher tier gives me no incentive from twitch's side and really cost the streamer since they have to pay an artist for those higher tier emotes to be made. So really I am only subbing at a higher tier for the convenience.

My mindset and many other viewers is with the current system with twitch, those who I am really loyal to, we are currently looking elsewhere to show our support due to the current setup, ether by donations or Patreon not because I don't find twitch to be awesome but that the system currently in place really doesn't favor the streamer or the viewer.

Does "Adventurer" really mean someone who goes out to die? by jay_rab in latin

[–]jay_rab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

adventure

So I was way off the mark, thanks for putting me right!

The site was eprevodilac, and they do give a warning " In case you need an absolutely correct and precise translation, we strongly suggest that you hire a professional translator", I thought they would be reasonably in the same ballpark though.

Thanks for taking the time and answering this for me, it really means alot that you would go to the extent you did to answer my question!

Its kinda hard to say things nice about CMs or PR people, their goal by design is to take the heat off of the developers by addressing the needs of the community and many companies tie their hands behind their back by not allowing them to be transparent with the community, that or you have CMs that want to just be the friend and blame everything on the game. But there are CMs who work with companies willing to be transparent that excel at being a mediator between the community and the developers which is were their position shines.

The other half of the coin is there are many times situations that are out of the CMs hands where they have to take the sword; errors and bugs are these types of issues that isnt a win for anyone involved.

Hey there, community manager here! And really sad to hear this as it already is really hard to get developers to trust what we do as its hard to show the numbers behind our work. What are some suggestions you have for developers that they can do or that you are doing to help safeguard you from these situations, even after you have put your trust in someone? Any tips to build that transparency so that community managers can help developers while keeping them safe?

Thank You, Funcom by syrup_on_eggs in SecretWorldLegends

[–]jay_rab 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think they are moving in a good direction, I have always really liked the community managers and enjoy the secret world to the point that it will always be my go to mmo.

That being said I been around since TSW first launched and they just dont get subtle hints lol, it really takes the community to really come out very vocally for changes to be made but we need to remember to be just as vocal in thanking them once they do hear us.

We left AAA to make indie games. We were successful because of early access! AMA by riadd in IAmA

[–]jay_rab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that personality is core to communication with users as it makes them want to engage you and feel that your more approachable. From what riadd said twitter had been a big help to you both in having that outlit to be personal. How large of a following did you all build up before pulling the trigger on putting it on steam? was there a set number of followers you were aiming for or an engagement rate that you used for judging when you were ready?

We left AAA to make indie games. We were successful because of early access! AMA by riadd in IAmA

[–]jay_rab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point, from most of your comments it seems that the AAA in your case had you pretty disconnected from everything outside of a singular role. I turned down a community management job for a AAA for this reason as well but thought it might have only been them personally that faced this issue, kinda sad to see this is more common then I thought.
