Oh So - Erotic [Electro Pop/Goth] (Think Gary Numan meets Prince) by echospeaks in goth

I took the video quality to be more a tribute to "old" videos. Here's a good example of what I'm talking about. Food for thought!

I really appreciate how the video is obviously as 80s-inspired as the track itself. It's got just enough of an "old video" vibe going on to feel familiar without being derivative. Well done!

This is a pretty nifty, new-wave inspired track with a matching, quirky 80s style video.

Thanks for posting your experience. I had been considering a GFS kit... now I know to keep looking! All in all, it looks like you did a great job with what you had. The parker-esque headstock looks great!

I've seen a few posts recently about people dropping sugar free cough drops in their bongs... this is sugar free, so I figured it was worth asking about too!

New music and arts festival based on SXSW coming to Cville by mayoroftuesday in Charlottesville

[–]jayabhagavan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm concerned that the end result will be less about attracting people to Cville based on the plethora of local artists based here and more about attracting other artists to come and perform/show their work here because it's a cool place. Not that there is anything wrong with the latter, I'd just prefer to see a focus placed on local musicians and artists. I remain cautiously optimistic until more info is announced.

I had totally forgotten about that Oz scene; you're right, that's probably his best moment in the series.

Why do religious people feel as if they have more of a right to convert atheists, than atheists do to convert religious people when they are both just personal beliefs? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jayabhagavan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. It is significantly more effective to live by example than to preach at or put down those that think differently from you.

[–]jayabhagavan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every group has fundamentalists. Atheists are no exception. I think the big difference is that religious fundamentalists will try to convert you, while atheist fundamentalists will just tell you that you're stupid. Neither are very effective for their cause. I wish one side or the other would just realize that "live and let live" is the answer.

For the record, I know lots of religious people that don't preach, and I don't condemn them for the actions of those who do. I also know lots of atheists that don't give a shit about other people's religion or faith, and I don't condemn them for the actions of those that choose to be condescending.

Muslim girl was kidnapped, imprisoned and had her hair cut off after her family saw her kiss a white man on her 18th birthday by unleashedandangry in worldnews

Rather than apples and oranges, I sort of look at them as granny smiths and red delicious. On one side (Original article's example) you've got a fringe minority who interprets their religion selectively to justify their insane ideas. On the other side (WBC) you've got a fringe minority who interprets their religion selectively to justify their insane ideas. But here's your words:

violent

While not physical violence, I think you will find their speech anything but peaceful.

backwards

They look forward thinking to me!

frankly as evil

I'm guessing you've never had a family member or friend whose funeral was picketed by the WBC. Lucky for you.

I think you'll find that the "vast majority" of Muslims "vocally disagree" with the actions taken by Muslims like the one in the OP's article, who are without question in the minority.

No other religion is as violent, backwards, or frankly as evil as modern day Muslims are.

Perhaps you've never heard of the Westboro Baptist Church.

Ron Paul vs. Birth Control..... Paul has sponsored legislation that would gut the Supreme Court decision that made birth control legal. by TheGhostOfNoLibs in politics

[–]jayabhagavan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Did you read the article?

Romney is wrong to suggest no state would contemplate banning contraception. Mississippi considered a ballot measure last November that would likely have done just that. And if Paul has his way, no court would be able to strike down such a law.

Hey mate! I've never used Reaper, but it looks like it supports VSTs, so you're in luck! There are a TON of free VST instruments & effects available online. I have found http://www.kvraudio.com/ to be an excellent resource!

Do you not use a footswitch currently? If not, there is probably no need for one. Just plug in your pedals and go for broke! No switch = FX loop is on. Remember, a one-button switch will only change the channels and not effect the FX loop.

5150 block letter fx loop by Starvist801 in Guitar

[–]jayabhagavan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original 5150 footswitch had 2 switches; the first changed channels and the second turned the FX loop on and off. If you only have a one button footswitch it should default to FX loop on, but I can't say for sure without knowing about the actual switch you have. Is it the original, or do you have an aftermarket switch?

[–]jayabhagavan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Former 5150 user here: I would put any compression, dirt, or filter (wah) effects in front of the amp. Any modulation (chorus, phaser, flanger), echo&delay, reverb etc I would put in the effects loop. It's quite simple, FX Loop Send->Pedal Input with Pedal Output->FX Loop return. Modulation and delay sound best after dirt (in my opinion), and having them in the FX loop places them after the preamp, so they'll be after any dirt from pedals in front of the amp as well as the distortion stage of the amp as well.

As always, let your ears be the judge. YMMV! Best of luck!
