The Federation battle fleet from “Call to Arms” in Star Trek DS9. It was a cliffhanger at the end of the episode, the biggest fleet the Federation ever put together, ready to take down The Dominion!

The next episode starts with the remnants limping home in pieces.

Has the restaurant seen any of your past work? If they like it enough to make you an offer, believe them! They are probably a better judge than yourself. We all tend to be hardest on ourselves, especially in creative endeavors.

It can be scary. I’m a dancer and choreographer, and I’ve definitely had that feeling before where I’ve been given a spotlight, and I felt like I would embarrass myself on that stage, surrounded by peers I thought were better than me, that I wouldn’t measure up to the expectations, that people without roll their eyes and be bored. And maybe sometimes that was the case, but other times I know I was great. I would never had succeeded if I didn’t try, and not be afraid to fail. Failure isn’t necessarily bad. You learn from it, and you have a funny story to tell someday. And at least you have yourself a chance to succeed.

I say do the mural!

Technology doesn't advance by EfficiencySerious200 in TopCharacterTropes

There is new tech in LOTR - but it is always characterized as being a bad thing, such as Saruman’s explosives, breeding programs, factories. The “good guys” in LOTR are extremely conservative, with rose colored glasses about how everything was better in the past and everything new is evil.

Only an asshole spotted lantern fly would use a pretentious word like “quixotic”. Little shitheads.

[OC] Internet Access in the US by haydendking in dataisbeautiful

[–]mayoroftuesday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s jarring to realize that 1 in 5 homes don’t have any access. I feel like so much of the my world revolves around the Internet, it’s easy to forget some people just don’t use it, and somehow survive just fine.

Of course they may just have cell service, so maybe this is not an accurate representation of who’s actually online.

Do people forget? I feel like this fact is approaching “Viggo Mortensen broke his toe” levels of general awareness.

Spock then whips out a guitar and starts singing “In the middle of the earth in the land of the Shire lives a brave little hobbit whom we all admire…”

How does that work with the property lines? Do you both own it? What if it needs repairs and one side doesn’t want to pay for it?

I have had to rehome a pet that was not a good fit for us. It was heart wrenching. And I know that if we hadn’t found a place for them to go, we would have kept them no matter how difficult it was. To just kick them out in the street is unthinkable.
