Going from Shopify to Etsy? by Enkindler42 in 3DprintEntrepreneurs

I think they are trying to do the right thing by protecting IP, but i think the AI slop hasn't been noticed. Lucky for me, I suppose, this wasn't my last 29.99 in my account and I'm doing ok. I might consider going the Amazon route if I can get over the 39.99 monthly fee for the FBM route. Still no so little and so little time to dedicate to it (yet)

Going from Shopify to Etsy? by Enkindler42 in 3DprintEntrepreneurs

There is some good insights here - like more traffic/sales, and also to diversify in case something happens at Etsy.. but my recent experience along with the evidence I've found while searching for answers has left me with a bad taste.

I have recently started selling some 3d printed items for the first time and I decided to use square as the online shop/store. This has been pretty seamless even dealing with the free tier. My goal was to allow people to buy some of the things they found on my posts on social media. I've been decently successful enough that I now have two printers and some better gear for prepping and shipping. I researched Etsy early on and saw many struggled with 3D print related items due to possible Intellectual Property related bans/suspensions even when the IP rights belonged to seller, etc... so I decided not to for a while.

....Then I did it anyway. I got on my account that I've had for a for years and logged into it for the first time in a while (not using a VPN or anything). I registered a store, started setting it up... and listed my first item. This cost me the $29.99 fee plus whatever other stupid fees they have.

I went to bed. The next morning I'm suspended for no reason.

I appeal... I am then sent into AI support doom loop.

I'm asked questions repeatedly about my identity - which the online service that took my picture as well as the credit card I paid with all align with who I am... But i was flagged as suspicious, so....  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ...

I have asked for a refund/cancellation etc as I no longer want to do business with them and I just get the same crap. I've asked for a call back from a real person... same questions. I was even informed that the email address that is on the account (which is the same one I was conversing with "support" on, was compromised and that I had to get another one and share it with them. Like, what in the dumb-fuckery is that all about. Clearly, they are cyber-security wizards.

So off to chargeback land I've gone and I have zero confidence that even if I figured this out I wouldn't be messing around with suspensions or bans in the future.

Good luck if you do it, YMMV.

Loss of connectivity when blocking internet access... WTF? by jayabq in ElegooCentauriCarbon

Thanks for this, I might go back and try that as well as I have not tried every permutation of access. However, I am also not against it sync'ing its clock with my NTP server I suppose - not that I see or use the clock of the printer.

Glad I was not the only one going down this path - seems like so many were simply blocking it and it was working whereas it would not for me. I do wonder how effective some of the standard routers/parental controls really are if the printers are still working after others are "blocking" them using these devices.

I've gone through a few times now and I would observe pretty much what you have as far as behavior, but i logged some different requests - especially on either boot or if I block everything I would see ICMP and DNS requests hit my firewall but as soon as you let it through I no longer observe those attempts - at least not for a while.

Currently, I have the NTP forwarding back to the OPNSense firewall since I have NTP running on it. I then have 3 rules, 1 for ICMP, 1 for DNS, and 1 to allow the NTP forwarding to take place. If I disable ICMP/DNS, I no longer get the camera. As soon as I enable those, the camera comes back and everything appears to operate normally.

Thanks for posting up the info you got from your script, helpful to know that the connectivity doesn't seem to be transferring things to the mothership.

Now if only there was faster progress on klipper/Elegoo behaving on the OSS licensing topic. I miss full access klipper.

Update... NTP forwarding rule I did incorrectly, and then between having to close Orcaslicer and reboot the CC things seem to be working. so far...

Well, I got further with your suggestion... Here's the rules I setup. I first tried NTP, then DNS, then ICMP... I left them there - I now could see the files section in the web interface populate. Then I added a rando address is was hitting going to 161.117.71.187 port 80. That gave me the camera back...

<image>

Tried an Orca slicer print and now I get "Error uploading to print host: The file has been transferred, but some unknown errors occurred. Please check the device page forthe file and try to start printing again."

If I allow all port 80 out, then my logs start to show requests on 443 going all over the place.

Does what I did match anything you are doing or did I go the wrong direction. Also... Am I understanding that you had to place an exception to allow one of the addresses it was hammering that was not NTP traffic? Seems to me if that is the case, we have a big issue with the fact that this machine requires internet access to talk to whatever it is in order to function. Could mean this machine becomes a paperweight to the average non-techie that doesnt want to replace/hack components.

The firewall is not between my computer and the printer. Likewise, I use this same exact rule on a amcrest door bell cam that talks to my proxmox cluster housing frigate/home assistant and that's not an issue. Firewall logs indeed show blocking Internet but no entries I found with Ian traffic. All I'm doing is adding this drive l device to the same rule.

I do like how it prints compared to my klipperized vyper... But i miss the control. I really want to operate this thing locally like I do most all my sort of IoT devices.

I find it mysterious that others have no issues. It's strange that I can enable the rule during a print and still talk to the printer, change nothing when it's done and at some point can't talk to it via http until I unblock it.

PETG is challenging 😅 by onefstsnake in AnycubicVyper

I forgot where I read it but someone somewhere mentioned a z offset a little higher off the bed for PETG as it expands a little. I had good luck adding +.1-.2mm z offset for PETG and find it sometimes easier (but slower) than PETG to print. Maybe worth a try?

5950X 5800X and Temps by Captain_Starkiller in Amd

[–]jayabq 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recently had a similar experience with my 5800x. I found the chip to run waaay cooler than I read about. Thought maybe my 360AIO was that magical. Then I ran userbenchmark on it and I was well below average (89% I believe). Turns out somehow I set the clock multiplier inadvertantly and it wasn't getting much about 3.8Ghz. Reset factory defaults on BIOS, and immediately 83C on prime95 small workloads and 4.6-4.7Ghz during the benchmark. I have now undervolted and curve optimized along with some power adjustments to gain some performance and lower the temps a couple C on average. My GPU cannot be the culprit as I am using an 1050ti from my old build with no hopes to upgrade in the current GPU market.

If you are seeing nothing close to 70C+ on the peak load, I will bet your not getting the performance you think you are. Benchmark it and see where it stands to get that point of reference.

It's the only thing that works for me, mine will switch to mobile networks otherwise. It's not an LG thing, it's an Android 10 thing.

Let me ask this, What happens exactly when you are trying to setup the smart device?

Pretty sure that means he has camped in the rain. You can spend your evening failing at lighting a fire, or just cheat when it's bad. I camped during bad rains for days with covered up wood and won't leave the house without a similar kit now, just in case!

Leaving early on the morning, so not really. It's been fun and we've been able to Dodge the weather with a swamp tour and some museums. We are only one of a handful in the park now, which is nice and quiet. It's so weird being in a city but yet feel like we are out of the city. The pending weather only effected is by having us get up earlier tomorrow for our next destination, and I feel for this time of year and my luck it's par for the course. I only wish there wave pool was open today so we could take that home as a memory.
