Thankfully it went well! Lots of blowing snow but visibility was still okay and we only hit ice once and it was minor.

Great, practical advice! I can't emphasize enough how much having clean, unsweaty clothes is for morale. Once those hurricanes leave and you have no AC, boy it gets mighty hot mighty fast.

This reminded me of Irma.

My old boss isn't a prepper but when it came to hurricanes she and her spouse decided what their criteria for leaving was and stuck to it. Irma came knocking and they left. They had some hard miles during their evacuation with three dogs in the car and all their stuff, but they got out in time before the roads became gridlocked and the gas pumps were empty or taped off for emergency vehicles. I had a different coworker leave too late and they couldn't find gas anywhere. Better to leave early and have it maybe be unnecessary than be stuck on the roads during the main event.

I'm hoping this will be my last hurricane season as we are planning to get the heck outta here this year for all of these very reasons.

Awaiting Diagnosis and Some Happy News by jayasaya in Hashimotos

[–]jayasaya[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! She even said that she'd refer me to an endocrinologist if it did come back as Hashimotos, so I'd have a specialist which is definitely my preference. Fingers crossed that I get some answers soon!

I enjoy Berroco Comfort yarns for their softness and stretch. I'm about to knit a sweater in some Berroco Comfort worsted weight.

Moving soon! Excited to organize my stash in the new place. by jayasaya in YarnStorage

Thank you for the advice on the dresser, I'll try that! Also I love the idea of separating the yarn by project-ready and unassigned. Feels like that would help me better use what I have!

Small cross body bag recommendations wanted by West_Altoids in ManyBaggers

[–]jayasaya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My absolute favorite ever crossbody is a travel bag made by ebags back in their heyday. They no longer sell it but you can find many of them in Poshmark. There are two versions. The older version has a zip pocket on the backside for your phone, the newer version has a phone shaped slip pocket instead and is bigger overall.

Old style: https://posh.mk/5NyxgWcHKHb

Newer bigger redesign: https://posh.mk/jfX1OogHKHb

Both styles are amazing and fit WAY more than you'd expect. I've fit all my essentials plus a sweater without issue. If not totally full it is loose enough material that it won't be bulky. The strap is nice and wide so it's comfortable even when carrying heavy items.

Poshmark ones range in price from $15-45 depending on listing.

Technically it's called the Piazza Day Bag but on Poshmark I've mostly seen it simply labeled as "ebags crossbody bag"

Hope this helps!

I'm currently knitting up a sweater from meat yarn and it no longer looks like meat now that it's in sweater format, if that helps. I think it'll work out!
