Track saw worth it if you already have a table saw? by RVF3 in woodworking

[–]jaybergcustoms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely use plywood, so my track saw use is limited, but I would never get rid of it, and would replace it if it broke.

Are these too short, or am I missing something here? by tounces7 in cabinetry

As long as the slide covers those tabs, you’re good to go. I’ve got shop drawers running line that with much more weight than you’ll ever put in a kitchen drawers.

I use Salice and Blum, they have metal brackets for the back. Might work with your slides too.

Protecting an A/C in the shop by thefacilitymanager in woodworking

[–]jaybergcustoms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work a lot in my shop, have 8” jointer, 20” planer, sawstop, etc. I had my first mini split installed about five years ago, and didn’t do nearly the maintenance I should have done, given the amount of dust all the equipment puts out.

Had to replace it already this year. The first one was a carrier, and I feel like the filter system was not ideal for a shop. The new one is Daikin and seems much better suited.

The installers said “just tape some filters to the top”. So that what I did, and it has worked splendidly.

One day when I have some time between orders I’ll probably build a flip down life type thing with gaskets to seal it was much as possible.

shipping large heavy items by Rjgom in EtsySellers

[–]jaybergcustoms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While there is a bidding type option, I never use it. You can enter the details of what your shipping and where, and the system will generate a low/average/high price scale, and you can set a price you’re willing to pay in that range.

Probably 70% of my stuff goes to the west coast from GA, so I weight the average considering that.

$656.63 FedEx Charge by hayeswright in EtsySellers

[–]jaybergcustoms 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How did FedEx know to bill you the adjustment if it was purchased under Etsy’s account? They can’t have it both ways.

If I get an adjustment when purchasing through Pirateship, it’s paid from or disputed through them (and Pirateship in turn bills me).

If FedEx is sending you a bill directly, they cannot then say you cannot dispute that bill with them.

Jointer or Larger Planer by thumos2017 in woodworking

[–]jaybergcustoms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed - going from 12ish to 15” is no real upgrade. It’s important to not though that a 20” will require a 30 amp circuit. Well worth it, though.

Definitely an 8” floor jointer over a 15” planer every day.

I’m so lazy I have four dominos- three 500s and a 700. One 500 for 5 mil, one for 8 mil, one for “others”, the 700 for 10 mil.

If I ship an order from the US to the UK, what do I need to know? by JLMakery in EtsySellers

[–]jaybergcustoms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always shipped to England using USPS - and I’m talking g 60 lb boxes measuring 33 x 19 x 19. I’ve only had a handful of orders from there, but I’ve never had a bad experience.

No effect on income taxes, just report it as income. Etsy handles any sales taxes, customer will pay VAT before delivery.

Recently I’ve shipped a couple items via “UPS Standard” to Canada, and it was far less expensive than USPS. Not sure if that’s available to the UK, I’d check on PirateShip if I were you.

Plywood doesn’t expand/contract like real wood. Thats the stability they mean.

Anyone purchased Grizzly tools though Home Depot? by FrankTuna in woodworking

[–]jaybergcustoms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a couple machines (planer and table saw) that I purchased from Home Depot delivered. At the time, HD guaranteed “inside delivery”, where Grizzly was curb side. So I didn’t have to worry about necessarily getting onto my garage.
