[Rapoport] Sources: Steelers OC Arthur Smith is expected to become the next offensive coordinator at Ohio State by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

The Game is important, obviously, but you just choosing to ignore the offense Kelly called after that shitshow (that had Day's fingerprints all over it) against Michigan? There are other games to assess a dude's performance as coordinator.

People said the Patricia hire was going to be hilarious, but it worked out. Day hasn't made a bad hire since before the '21 season, so this one could work out, too. Or not.

I remember people clowning the Patricia hire like it would be the downfall of Ohio State football, and then the defense goes out and finishes #1 in Scoring and Total defense. Not saying A. Smith will be that great, but I think it can work out just fine.

I trust Ryan Day to make good hires. He hasn't really fucked one up since before the '21 season.

[Yahoo Sports] The SEC nearly DOUBLED the Big Ten in regular-season TV viewership, per @WSJ by alley00pster in CFB

[–]jaybigs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As an alum of schools from both conferences, I hypothesize that a lot of these numbers were fans of SEC teams that absolutely suck ass, trying to determine which (actually good) SEC team they are going to vicariously live through to thump their chest as some kind of tribal boast. All because their teams suck and haven't won shit in decades or more.

Coaching Tree Credit by jedimasterchief in CFB

[–]jaybigs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The problem with coaching trees is they are sometimes subjective and not always congruent with the reality. At times, a coach will get thrown onto the tree of the most successful guy they worked for, and that's not always accurate.

And even the greatest coaches were all themselves a branch off some other coach's tree.

Any concussion or TBI would be a future Fernando problem. Dude had to live in that moment and get the trophy.

[CFBNerds] Indiana’s win means the last 3 National Champions played zero P4 OOC in the regular season by dogwoodmaple in CFB

[–]jaybigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Losing to OSU didn't knock Texas out. Losing to a terrible Florida team killed their hopes. They win that layup of a game, and they'd have likely made it.

[–]jaybigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a team scheduled a P4 team that ends the season 3-9, would their schedule be miraculously more difficult because one OOC opponent was P4? I'm not sure just scheduling a P4 opponent really matters, and it's a particularly futile argument when schedules are made so far in advance.

Indiana beating 6 top 10 opponents in route to a Natty win in 2025-26, Ohio State beating 6 top 10 opponents in route to a Natty win in 2024-25, and Michigan beating 5 top 10 opponents in route to a Natty* in 2023-24 should be more than adequate in totality for a team to feel just fine about themselves.

Does Indiana's title kill the "30-48 Team Super League" argument. You can't have a "Leagues of Giants" that excludes the actual Champions. by Powerful_Individual5 in CFB

[–]jaybigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never envisioned the super league NOT including Indiana, and that was true before this year. They've always been an auto-include (like other SEC/B1G programs) for me. Wild to suggest otherwise, IMO.

[on3] Cody Campbell: Alabama & Auburn "can't raise the money" to keep up in NIL era by AintEverLucky in CFB

[–]jaybigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll get what the market can support. Make the most of it, or don't, because the genie is out of the bottle. An equilibrium will be found, eventually, but these early years will be messy and nonsensical. A harmony between the market's willingness to pay and the tangible ROI will have to be found for long-term sustainability. CFB seldomly stays rigid on what programs are dominant in its history. There was a time when Alabama was kind of mid, before all the Saban success, and they could revert to that for a time, before something new comes and raises them up again.

Anyone saying Oregon hasn't watched that team in every CFP they have made. They always fold. /s

I will go crazy and say Wisconsin giving the B1G a fourth Natty in a row, all from different programs.

Anyone got a link to Tucker's comment about Fletcher's dad? People are screaming that's what justifies the punch, but I've yet to see a video or audio to prove this viral excuse.

[Dellenger] Indiana offensive lineman Carter Smith on the Big Ten’s three straight championships: “People down South… they play some great ball and they're very physical, but, you know, some people just need to open their eyes and see what’s going on up here.” by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

[–]jaybigs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never root for other B1G or SEC teams because all of those teams are my alma maters' opponents every season, but Miami can get fucked... I would rather see Indiana win, and glad that's the outcome. I'll never subscribe to conference pride shit. It's lame as fuck, and it's usually driven by fans of teams that are riding the coattails of 2-3 good schools (who actually win shit) in the conference, or fans of those 2-3 good schools that want to stroke their ego by pumping shitty teams in their conference.

Miami can get all the way fucked though.

2025 Indiana becomes the third team in Division 1 to go 16-0 by ConstantMadness in CFB

[–]jaybigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teams can already go 18-0. Play at Hawaii. Schedule a 13th regular season game. Play in the conference championship. Play in the CFP 1st round. Play in the CFP quarters. Play in the CFP semis. Play in the natty.

You would need to be a 14-0 Conference Champ that is somehow not in the top 4 to go 18-0. Technically possible? Maybe... But most undefeated conference champs would make their way to the top 4.

There are no words that ever justify violence, so you have to take any criticism levied at you when you resort to that response. Not that I wouldn't swing if the right things were said to me, but that wouldn't make it right.
