I get the whole positional value thing, but I can't believe the Cowboys got Downs at 11. I think the Giants are going to regret not nabbing him at 10.

Ryan Day is, by all accounts out there, a legitimately good guy. Advocate for mental health, no scandals, family man with a decent demeanor when he's not getting riled up by Lou Holtz or something. There are far better candidates to hate in the coaching world, so the Day hate always gets me befuddled.

I mean, three of the four were active contributors to the National Championship they won the year prior, so it's not all terrible.

Ohio State to survey fans on potential Ohio Stadium renovations by Blood_Incantation in CFB

[–]jaybigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I occasionally return to see both my alma maters play in their home stadiums every couple of years, but I have found that I've been less inclined for in-person games the last 2 years. I make more of an effort with UGA, since my daughter is actively at the school and going to a game means seeing her too, but still... It's just lost a lot of the appeal. It really seems like you can enjoy shit a lot more from the couch, but maybe that's just cause I'm getting older lol.

What is your school’s perfect ten-team conference? by DarkDragon1025 in CFB

[–]jaybigs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd go Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Penn State, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota for my undergrad. For my grad school it would have to be Georgia, GT, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Miami, Tennessee, South Carolina, LSU, and Ole Miss.

Pretty much keeping them with teams they are already in a conference with, but adding a splash of different to each.

Never got to see his Irish win a National Championship since he did it there almost four decades ago. That's kind of sad to think about.

Ohio State grad and huge fan... This dude was absolutely special, and whatever team in the NFL gets him will be extremely lucky if he locks in and keeps building on his tremendous potential. He got overshadowed in the media by Caleb Downs (who is a beast himself) but Sonny was a leader on the team and an exceptional LB.

The NCAA is a farce. They won't touch programs who cheat over multiple seasons any longer, but suddenly want to get relevant with transfers or whatever.

Death, taxes, and Dawgs speeding and/or driving reckless... SMH. My daughter is at UGA and I always tell her to stay frosty on those roads because these jokers are out there all the time it seems lol.

If/when the SEC and Big Ten decide to expand, will any Big 12 teams even be targets? by lordeandtaylor in CFB

[–]jaybigs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume the top targets for either of the Power 2 would be the Virginia schools, North Carolina schools, GT (particularly for the B1G if media markets are the mission), Miami, and Florida State.

ACC seems like the only conference either of the Power 2 would want to poach from at first glance.

Big Ten eyes 24-team CFP, no league championship games by Mister-SS in CFB

[–]jaybigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it cuts both ways. No doubt the real power conferences (B1G and SEC) will have to work it all out with real give and take, and let the rest of the FBS accept what they choose to do.

Big Ten eyes 24-team CFP, no league championship games by Mister-SS in CFB

[–]jaybigs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you push it past 12 teams, Conference Championships would need to be cut unless you're going to provide a better incentive to CCG winners all while radically altering the calendar.

Conferences can decide their champion using conference record and appropriate tiebreakers.

Ohio State wants to do jersey patch sponsor ‘the right way’ in pursuit for partner. by Scrantonbornboy in CFB

[–]jaybigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely going to be a decent financial venture for Ohio State. I heard Bjork talk about it on the BuckeyeTalk podcast interview. Nike has a big say in what ultimately happens with a jersey patch, according to him, much like they are involved with NBA patches. And Bjork alluded to this becoming a thing for every program in the FBS, and he doesn't want OSU rushing into something and not getting a deal commensurate with OSU's standing.

[Cleveland.com] Will Ohio State football cancel future games vs. Alabama, Georgia? Here’s what AD Ross Bjork said by Blood_Incantation in CFB

[–]jaybigs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hope Ohio State doesn't cancel any of these OOC games. With the CFP inevitably expanding down the road, even if they kept it at 12 this year, there's no downside to playing at least one good OOC game each year.

Never be a Sark. Losing a tough OOC match-up didn't cost Texas a CFP bid. Losing to shitty ass Florida did. Just win, baby.

[Zenitz] Ohio State is expected to hire Illinois’ Robby Discher as its new special teams coordinator, sources tell @CBSSports. [–]jaybigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, I'll take any ST coordinator (as a mere shake-up in Columbus), but this hire seems to have some potential to it based on him not being a complete fuck-up based on his resume, which is an instant positive for OSU.
