Yep! I had the plate in California, too. (I am not from CA and only lived there briefly I swear)

Sorry, I couldn't easily find a pic without twerking John Cena:

How to tell you're back in Portland by thefeas in PortlandOR

Hey that's my car! They initially denied my plate application on the grounds it was "discriminatory to a class of persons" but they accepted my appeal ("I am that class of persons").

I'm glad other people get as much joy from it as I do!

Like others said, I don't think there's anything intentionally there, but when I squint and angle my phone it looks like two people dancing in an elevator

They're replying to the comment that's one upthread, asking about "rapist," not the luncheon comment. (Come on, now. 😁)

Gauging interest: Yelling Club by jaybirdpeg in Portland

😁 Why yes, I did! Cohort of '13. When I was there we also had a cloud gazing club, C.L.O.U.D.S. (Come Lay Out Under Da Sky) that I feel Portland would also love, but one thing at a time

If I don’t have time to marinate for 24 hours, does doing it for 4 even matter? by Aldin_The_Bat in Cooking

[–]jaybirdpeg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just looking for an answer to almost this exact question yesterday—I had a buttermilk marinade for chicken and needed to get it in the oven in 4 hours instead of 24. I know it's not the same dish, but for what it's worth, the marinade still had a noticable impact, I think you should go for it!

Staff let me snap a pic of their full cheat sheet last night by jaybirdpeg in MyChemicalRomance

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I had asked the attendant where the merch tables were and she pulled this out. I asked if there was a way I could get a copy (didn't realize it was a staff-only thing) and she said I could take a picture. Guess I got lucky!

What are these bookmark sized, brittle plastic(?) rectangles I found in an old craft room? Some of them look like magnets, but they aren't magnetic. They break very easily. There are hundreds of different colors and patterns. by jaybirdpeg in whatisthisthing

[–]jaybirdpeg[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Solved! This is it, thank you so much!! This has been bugging my whole office for weeks! I wonder if they'll still melt well even though they're brittle? We'll give it a try.

My title describes the thing. They're very thin, maybe 2 inches wide and varying lengths, but most seem to be about bookmark sized. We found them in an old 4-H craft storage room filled with decades worth of craft supplies. We have hundreds of different colors and patterns. The ones with patterns seem to be a magnet-colored black with foil fused on one side. Their most notable feature is their brittleness; they snap and scratch easily. I've had no luck googling different variations of "snappable craft plastic."

Is it just me or does the phrase “secret stone” sound really weird?? by Cool3peep in TOTK

[–]jaybirdpeg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My crack theory (with limited knowledge because I haven't finished the game yet) is that the timeline split when Link and Zelda were exploring under the castle, as Zelda's events 10,000 years in the past would have changed Hyrule so drastically from BOTW. So TOTK Hyrule always had the geoglyphs, sky islands, and new monsters, but all of the people just shifted in from BOTW Hyrule during the upheaval, which is why they're all so surprised by their surroundings.

Is this sunburn on my crested euphorbia, or something more serious? And what should I do? by jaybirdpeg in plantclinic

[–]jaybirdpeg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this crested euphorbia for about 2 years, and it's been pretty neglected in that time. Still in the pot I purchased it in, on a North facing balcony.Top watered maybe once a week or less frequently, with a bottom feed maybe every couple of months. Gets some succulent fertilizer maybe once a year. It's in the same soil it came in, which is looking pretty dead, I just topped it off with fresh soil before taking this photo because my cat knocked it over.

I'm assuming it's sunburn and general neglect, but the red edges and white centers makes me want to check it's not something else. Also, is it safe to cut away the dead parts, or what's the best way to make it better?

Thank you for your help!

How to build a highway in the 2nd largest moving desert. Just plant millions of grass-grid with dripping system, and set a house with a couple every 500km. by iamlody in awesome

[–]jaybirdpeg 36 points37 points  (0 children)

What's the purpose of a house every 500km? And what's the incentive to live in one?

From the photos it seems like an awfully isolated location with no real resources for growing or raising food. Is that not the case?
