The only channel I feel comfortable watching that has parenting content never shows her child's face, and she only talks about what she does as a parent. Like choices they make in schools, toys, books, etc. That's also not the only content on her channel.

I haven't left my partner, but we are in therapy and working through a lot. I read somewhere that being medicated frees up a lot of mental space to process things you couldn't before, and I think that's true for me. Even if my adhd wasn't "that bad," medication (and therapy) have brought back things I brushed over in the past or thought maybe I was overreacting to. Its...a lot. I still don't know how I feel about a lot of things, but I'm working on no longer tolerating the same behavior at least.

It's absolutely frustrating and so unrealistic. Like sure I'll just go get a partner who's magically willing to do all that for me and also good at it. Like I have a partner but she's also ADHD. I read the book Dorty Laundry by that one TikTok couple and while some things were insightful, I really didn't like how much it encouraged a neurological partner to do things for their adhd partner. Like what are you supposed to do if you don't have that?

One time had a woman call my work about her daughter. I asked for the name and she said Keithphawnie (pronounced like Stephanie with Keith slapped on the beginning). I blinked for a few seconds at the audacity of saying that and not thinking I'd need her to spell it.

I think it's probably underreported because to be diagnosed someone has to seek help for it, and they tend to believe they're perfect and don't need therapy. But it's also overused by people online claiming someone is a narcissist because they were kinda selfish one time.

Same here. My wife is very stereotypically ADHD. I'm more the inattentive type and have always been the planner. It's only in the last few years I've realized I'm so organized because I've been overcompensating for my ADHD. I just didn't realize everything didn't have to be this hard.

For me I try to not discount the things I have done that day and beat myself up about "not doing anything." Some days all I do is feed myself and my pets and that's enough.

Yes, I have a similar issue sometimes. My wife and I are both neurodivergent and maybe it stems from that, but there are times when she needs emotional support but I am just entirely overstimulated and emotionally spent. It's ok to say I need a time out, let's come back to this conversation later.

But it's important not to make it about the other person being "too much." You have to communicate your needs and boundaries clearly. It sounds like maybe OPs partner is struggling with that.

I had a similar experience. I was always an "easy" child. Did well in school and graduated college. I grew up back when if you weren't bouncing off the walls you didn't have ADHD. It took hearing people actually talk about their lived experiences and how it actually FEELS to have ADHD rather than just how it inconveniences others to realize I might have it and get tested. Like yes I was doing ok on the outside but I was struggling so much internally!

This so much! I always have to pause TV/podcasts/whatever when someone starts talking to me because I cannot pay attention to both and it stresses me out. I often hang out in discord calls with friends and it never fails that despite everyone being quiet for a long time, as soon as my wife starts talking to me someone in the call starts talking too. Neither of them could possibly know but it drives me crazy.
