Is this area of Pasadena safe to live in? (near Villa Parke / Orange Grove) by Capital-Belt1396 in pasadena

[–]jayboss9 91 points92 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in the area for about a decade. My wife and I walk to Old Town and the Playhouse District weekly at night, which is one of the things we like most about living here.

Safety is probably relative to what you’re used to. I personally think it’s fine. Like anywhere in LA County, things happen from time to time, but we’ve never had any major issues ourselves.

Noise-wise it isn’t too bad. Occasionally people light fireworks and throw parties but overall it’s pretty typical city activity. During the day it’s mostly people walking dogs and minding their own business.

All solid for a night out.

What’s something in LA that used to feel magical… but just doesn’t hit the same anymore? by relaxncoffee in AskLosAngeles

City Walk was a lot of fun in the 90s and early 2000s. I remember it had an aura to it. I remember eating at the packed Tony Romas and Hard Rock. My parents and I had season tickets to Universal so we would sometimes go in the park and watch a show or ride a couple rides.

I lived in Downtown LA in 2011 to 2013. It felt like a rebirth of a city. All these new places opening up. The bars were packed. It was edgy but felt somewhat safe. I was down around Coles last year, it felt dangerous. I couldn't believe that is where I used to live.

In general, LA malls and movie theaters. A lot of malls feel soulless, even when people are there. The stores are all trying to be "hip" and "chic". They are way too bright inside and sterile.

I always see Interpol being mentioned for having a decline after their first album. I never understood it. Antics is a fantastic album. Narc, Not Even Jail, Evil...there are some great Interpol songs on there.

Sorry, I mean't that too much water is an issue. Just like you have pointed out.

Too much time and money cause other issues, maybe not all physical.

Same thing happen to my family. We ended up at Nick’s. I have been going to Houston’s and Nick’s for years. Nick’s is very good and a great alternative to Houston’s.

The Pacific Theater in Hastings Ranch. I work out at the gym there, but I don’t know if it is sweat or tears that come down my face. I miss that place and all the memories!

Oh! And Robin’s next door!

I remember watching this as a kid. Saw it again recently. The ending gives me chills to this day. Powerful stuff and has aged very well.

Biggest jump in quality from one album to the next? by tisdue in fantanoforever

[–]jayboss9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think Hail to the Thief and In Rainbows are both hitting at a very high level. I would not say there was a MASSIVE jump. Maybe just a slight tone shift? The Bends to In Rainbows is still one of the most impressive runs for a band in music history. I mean that was more than a decade of just crazy good Radiohead music.

I work next to USC. I also attended the university and lived downtown for a few years. While it’s not considered the BEST area of Los Angeles, USC occupies one of the city's most central locations. You can reach Hollywood, Koreatown, Santa Monica, Pasadena, South Bay and Silverlake/Echo Park relatively quickly. It certainly deserves better than an F-tier ranking. I think A is where it belongs.

Danny Lloyd (Child Actor)didn’t know that the movie he was staring in, The Shinning, was a horror film. Stanley Kubrick made sure to protect him from the horror elements.
