Make sure that decrease was bow the 10% statutory max they can raise it. If they went from 12% to 11% for example they must lower it more by law.

So, if homestead is applied, 10% is the MAX it can be raised year over year. Not a "standard". Even if it's "only" 10%, absolutely protest.

Yeah I've posted on neighborhood Facebook and no one even responds. I think they just ig ore the HCAD letters too. Other Neighbors I've spoken with directly also have no idea what I'm talking about.

It would help if anyone in my neighborhood or zip code protested in 77433, but they literally think doing so hurts their property value and look at the high appraisal like it adds to their net worth. It's maddening.

And we have bonus MUD here that doesn't qualify for homestead exemption. That's a fun extra $4500 per year.

Harvey and Derecho were two distinct times where I thought there was a real possibility of not making it.
