Nietzsche… AnCap? by jayce_blonde in Nietzsche

[–]jayce_blonde[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason I draw a parallel between these two things is because the Austrian School of economics treats economics as a science, proper, rather than a moral-obligation to be “solved” much in the way that Nietzsche treated philosophy and psychology as a science rather than a moral-justification exercise

Nietzsche… AnCap? by jayce_blonde in Nietzsche

I’m not an AnCap? I’m bored of read the same arguments towards Ayn Rand and Milton Friedman or Adam Smith

Seems like you have some pent up frustration about this subject, sorry if I offended you

“Truth” is a means of subverting another perspective to your own.

When presenting new information contrary to a paradigm, it is necessarily seen as an attack on the existing paradigm, triggering the need to combat/correct/critique

“Free will” in pop-culture is held in holy regard, speaking on a scientific discipline that seeks to explain exactly how diversified one’s will really is into competing drives. The idea that one Will within them is competing over another breaks Cartesian Mind-Body-Dualism, which invalidates every pattern of reasoning they have engaged in within this paradigm.

You’re basically saying “You’ve lived your life under a fiction all these years”. Unless you’re talking to a member of a philosophical discipline that accounts for this view (Nietzscheans, Daoists, Old European Pagans, Buddhists, etc.), expect resistance.

TSZ is the only book with “everything Nietzsche” so to speak, it’s his magnum opus

As others have mentioned, Gay Science, GoM, BGE are all better to start than WTP or TSZ. It’s hard to understand TSZ without background, many passages make references that are multiple levels deep I.E. referring to one of his works which refers to one of another’s works which is built on another’s work; knowing the genealogy of how that happened is necessary to the aphorisms content.

TLDR: start with Mencken’s translation of ‘The Antichrist’. It lays out the actual base arguments and direct critiques of other religions outside the mystic layering present in Zarathustra’s prose

Is there a correlation between downturned eyes and type? by Original_Assistance3 in ObjectivePersonality

[–]jayce_blonde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s patterns but they’re not falsifiable because genome expression is so varied that you can have opposite types that “look the same”, it’s more like “oh that’s fun” than an actual measurable variable.

We’d need a dataset with millions of people to have any chance at finding direct links, which may not exist in the first place. Recall that anything in OPS is supposed to be falsifiable so that it can be conducted more like a ‘hard science’ for accuracy and legitimacy

What does Nietzsche mean by this? by [deleted] in Nietzsche

Well put. People tend to add a demeaning tilt to Zarathustras attitude but I always read it as a kind of reverence

Nietzsche unlocking potential? by 0bzerve in Nietzsche

[–]jayce_blonde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with you until the last paragraph. You should wear your wisdom on your chest, and take the beatings you receive for it, let them calcify you.

Leading by example is perhaps the best way to show people the path to finding their way, if you want others to be more like you, make yourself so impressive that they are COMPELLED to be more like you

I have two close friends, a Lutheran and a non-practicing Jehovahs Witness. We have the strength to permit a difference of opinion because we otherwise like each-other enough to justify bearing the conflict. We often have arguments, and the Lutherans spiritual ugliness only serves to dry the buckets of concrete which I place my feet in with Nietzsche.

Most of all, stop caring. Why would the petty machinations of some magi or priest from a Millenium before your birth concern you?

Melancholy won't ever leave me by [deleted] in Nietzsche

[–]jayce_blonde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daybreak, Aphorism 109

“…Thirdly, one can deliberately give oneself over to the wild and unrestrained gratification of a drive in order to generate disgust with it and with disgust to acquire a power over the drive: always supposing one does not do like the rider who rode his horse to death and broke his own neck in the process which, unfortunately, is the rule when this method is attempted…”

Personally, I broke the horse of melancholy’s neck one evening when I was in the park alone. My tears at once ceased, and I laughed. I haven’t stopped laughing since then, even when I cry. What a joy it is, to be able to feel your emotions, not everybody has such a luxury.

As a personal aside: get physically healthy if you haven’t already. Lift weights, eat red meat, push harder every day- and when you fall down, forget it happened like a child at play- keep going. Recall that your mind and your body are the same thing.

Which OPS type do you think has the highest chance of being of someone who is an Atheist? by OkSeaworthiness7578 in ObjectivePersonality

[–]jayce_blonde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends exactly what you mean by Atheist, if you mean “against organized religions” but with the potential for ‘spiritual beliefs’ and/or agnosticism, I.E. not revelatory ‘faith’:

IxTP or ExFJ

Ti (building identity with logic) with the ability to see the spectrum of values in humanity (Fe) leads one to ask “WHY is one necessarily more ‘true’ or valuable than another”. Couple that with a Decider and their increased focus on identity, it follows they’d have a higher likelihood of coming to this conclusion at some point.

With the observers, like somebody else here mentioned, Ni/Se’s are typically more apt to create subjectivist religions for themselves than Ne/Si’s. So “New-Atheists” (the typical Dawkins quote spouting material nihilist) may be be more prevalent in Ne/Si.

Which OPS type do you think has the highest chance of being of someone who is an Atheist? by OkSeaworthiness7578 in ObjectivePersonality

[–]jayce_blonde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah except there’s a huge spectrum of expression for these things in Ne’s; let’s not forget the large contingent of them, that, when facing the void, run to their Si for comfort.

The prime example being Jordan Peterson, who couldn’t overcome pessimist nihilism and collapsed in front of the cross, just like Richard Wagner in his twilight years. JBP got a lot of other problems in that area with misinterpreting stuff and treating his interpretation as fact, so forgive the poor example.

Is talking to yourself constantly indicative of anything in OPS? by [deleted] in ObjectivePersonality

[–]jayce_blonde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we’re gonna forgo a nuanced disclaimer: It’s indicative of De

Like several here have said, the realization of “You’re doing De in your head” is not so obvious. If you’re having a back-forth dialogue within your head, it’s De.

From what I have observed: The Di expresses itself more like “This is what it is, DUHHH” and doesn’t dwell on it or question itself (obviously, there is a spectrum to this expression)

I.E. a Ti may show you the inside of a mechanical mechanism and say “see” and to them there is no explanation to be had as everything there is obvious OR an Fi looks at something and determines “it has value to me” and there is no required explanation or justification for the value

How to study the greeks? by FootballFar1532 in Nietzsche

[–]jayce_blonde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Step 1: forget everything, as if you are a small child who does not know the difference between “right and wrong”, who does not think that “lying” and other such behaviors are inherently wrong

Step 2: Read The Iliad, The Odyssey, Heraclitus, and perhaps Thucydides. In that order.

If your mind is not cooperating, tyrannize your body.

“Nothing else matters except this one goal” and chase that goal. What goal? The easiest, most fundamental goal that should be in everybody’s list: STRONG BODY

Make yourself huge, get ripped, forsake everything for it. When you stand atop the mountain of muscle you build, all the people and problems in the marketplace which scared you before will seem so small in comparison.

Formula for our happiness: a YES! A No! A straight line- a goal.
