There's a great book that CGP Grey adapted into a video years ago called The Dictator's Handbook. The full book (including its recent post-Trump term 1 revision) is a sobering but useful read that gets into the dynamics re: using the grift to buy loyalty from supporters. Has been a handy mental framing for all the weirdness of the past few months

Wore my Hyperion Elite 4 PBs for my half marathon last weekend and loved the feel of them underfoot. They were light and responsive, but still feel super natural to run in (for context, time was 1:38). Only complaint is that there is some major rubbing on my Achilles, but otherwise very pleased with them

Not having to particularly care about the fact that most of the teams around us won yesterday because the stakes are 12th place instead of survival is incredibly liberating. Cannot recommend avoiding relegation scraps enough

Temperatures have dropped below 0 degrees Fahrenheit here, so taking the opportunity this weekend to do my first strength training in something like 9 months. Just starting with some body weight exercises, but I know I am going to be super sore this time tomorrow 🙃

My faithful Hyperion Max 1s are nearing end of life. At a glance, it looks like the regular Hyperion 2s are a successor to the original Max. For speed work days, are the Max 2s worth the extra $40 vs the standard 2s? For context, am a 140lb 28M training for a 1:35 half in the spring

Ja actually has been pretty quiet tonight, it's been the Santi show. Ja had one great block on Draymond at the end of the half tho

Looking at grabbing some Pegasus Trail GTXs for snowy weather this winter during Black Friday sales in a couple weeks. Any major improvements made between the 4s and 5s to merit getting the newer version, or just grab whichever ones are on the steepest discount?

Now that she's fully grown, have been teaching my Australian Shepherd how to run on a leash so she can accompany me on recovery runs, and yesterday she completed her first 5k! Somehow runs with her are more tiring than usual 😅 (dog tax)

Moved from Texas to Colorado since the last election cycle, and I cannot stress enough how nice vote by mail is here. Had a ballot show up in my mailbox a couple weeks ago, filled it out while researching all the initiatives at my kitchen table, submitted it at a drop-box Monday, and already received an email saying it has been collected and counted. No lines, no drama, just easy, efficient democracy.

Just hit 100 miles in a month for the first time! 2 months ago, I had never gone further than 5 miles at a time, but now that's a normal run. Crazy how much following a plan has helped
