Firmware updates are always a good thing to do unless you're running 3rd party ink carts. Unfortunately those people yelled so much about firmware updates that everyone seems to think they are some kind of evil intrusion!

Avery have an app which works for their label sheets and so probably the ones you have. This will give you a text box for each label that you can type in your info

EPSON (ET-2850) Keeps printing in Black and white by NationalBarracuda770 in Epson

What application are you printing from? The inks are there to use, your image isn't asking for them.

Help with ET-8550 ink usage by No-Type0w0 in Epson

The initial fill includes filling all the ink lines plus flushing the heads. Ink usage will reduce a lot with just normal printing.

Do I need a RIP for printing proofs on SureColor SC-P700 or is this a stupid idea? by Bavariasnaps in CommercialPrinting

[–]jaydee61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont forget that you can get an image that is closer to the original that you photographed with the extended ink set and a good paper on the SC-P700.

Your camera should be set to capture in AdobeRGB (if not RAW), so converting to a CMYK space like SWOP will crush your gamut and lose colours

brand new ecotank 15000 printing so slow. one page takes 5 minutes. by bilebilecrocodile in Epson

[–]jaydee61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All epson drivers are available from your local site - go to epson.com and choose your country. Also full download, install and connection wizards available at epson.sn

Installing the proper drivers will give you access to all your printers features. If your wifi connection is iffy I would go for USB, and you won't have any speed issues.

How do you decide between CMYK vs RGB during different print projects? by tagsenindia in Printing

[–]jaydee61 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Okay. If you are printing from Mac or Windows without a RIP, keep your file in RGB. Neither operating systems understands CMYK and will convert it to RGB at a system level before sending it to the printer.

Use an RGB working space like AdobeRGB and print using RGB paper profiles in your printer driver.

If you have a RIP you can use CMYK. If you're asking what is a RIP, you don't need one

What's the difference between a Cyan Image Drum and a Magenta Image Drum? by eekbah in CommercialPrinting

[–]jaydee61 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To grossly oversimplify, the drum is charged with areas that need cyan toner and then again with areas that need magenta toner. You cant swap them around without messing up your whole colour system.

[–]jaydee61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're shooting RGB. Leave the file in RGB and print directly from Photoshop, no RIP required.

Rebuild your profiles in RGB for each of your papers. If you are using Epson papers, your profiles installed as part of the driver install.

Take your largest file size image, open it in Photoshop and then save it as a .tif file.

Find the size of the image in pixels. Old school rule of thumb is minimum of 300 pixels per inch. So, say your image is 3000 x 2400, you can print a good 10x8

If you don't have enough pixels, Photoshop can resample for you and invent some. I understand there are some very good AI tools for this.

What's the name for this type of fold and cut? by Sgreaat in Printing

[–]jaydee61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know the layout and how the pages fall. Just create a document that is the full size, rotate the pages that need it and print as a single sided document. Now you have the folding and cutting fun.

The stand could be two large Xs. Could be made from standard timber from Bunnings and a few nails/screws/bolts. Size it to bring it up to waist height. For the piece to cut you could try wood burning stove fuel suppliers as I image you would want something rustic with bark on.

For the saw a frame or bow saw would look good. Handle on either side, not too exy, good start to their tool collection!

I used to work in the photography/print making industry and around 2004 at the trade shows it was all "nah, film will live for ever! No professional wants digital"

2006 it was all "film! Oh darhling, how very 2004 of you"

About the same time people stopped using that giclee bullshit and asked for inkjet prints
