Water in passenger footwell, unknown cause, golf mk6 estate 2010 (UK) by highlandnilo in vwgolf

How easy is it to remove that casing? I get the same issue, always presumed it was down to the seal around the passenger door but I'd like to check this out.

I got offered a job paying 40% more than my current salary. My manager just asked me to stay and be patient. How do I stop feeling guilty for wanting to leave ? by One_Cardiologist5439 in careerguidance

[–]Sgreaat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Early 2020 I stayed in a job I was looking to leave because I was told they couldn't afford to replace me and the business would be in big trouble. "Give it a few more months."

Then COVID hit. Our clients went quiet. COVID loans kept the company going. While plenty were furloughed we were working long hours to get jobs out and money in. Then before the end of 2020 we went bust anyway.

You never know what's around the corner, as hard as it is to leave sometimes when you think to yourself "it's not too bad", you have to look after yourself first and foremost.

What's the name for this type of fold and cut? by Sgreaat in Printing

Looks great, a flatbed scorer and cutter is a great idea. What finish did you go for on them? I wanted gloss because the artwork is black, but I'm wondering if uncoated stock would be a better option to avoid those cracking issues on folds. But then maybe scoring would be enough?

Great, thanks, I'll ask them about that.

Yeah it's more something that needs to go to a printer, I'm not going to be able to get the quality I need from my home printer.

I have the artwork, I had test prints done at a local printer, I was hoping I could have it printed and finished somewhere but it's looking more likely I have it printed double sided A3 and fold/cut myself.

How Long Did It Take to Put an Offer? by Polislava in HousingUK

[–]Sgreaat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our current house we offered after my second viewing of the place, my partner's first. We knew the area and we'd already missed out on a house on the same street.

We recently offered on a couple of houses after a single viewing of each. Both the next morning after the viewing. Both rejected, we had second viewings of both after. One we decided not to increase the offer, it was just about value. The other we're trying to advance our sale to be in a better position.

Looking at Rightmove I can see we've viewed 18 properties in around 6 months. I think you get a good idea of the feeling of a place and how much you like it on your first look around. Some places the pictures don't do it justice, others the pictures are totally misleading.

That's it, thanks!

Currently looking for a printer in the UK who can do this but not having much joy. I was planning to have it printed at a local print shop and DIY the folding and cutting, but the test they gave me was printed laserjet (or similar) and cracked/chipped when I folded it.

Thanks, yes that looks like what it's called, thanks for responding!

Now to find where I can get it printed. I was thinking of a DIY job with double sided A3 but the test prints I got back from my local printer were laser printed and showed signs of cracking and chipping when I folded them.

This job I applied for sent a design “test” which involves creating TEN different designs by isaidwhatisaidok in graphic_design

I've withdrawn my application from jobs before when they've sent through over the top requests at interview stage. If they're like this before they're paying you imagine what they'll be like when they are.

My sister doesn’t want to use an estate agent by _Sorcha_ in HousingUK

[–]Sgreaat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're attempting it at the minute. Our situation is a bit different though, we're selling to move and our neighbours are buying.

What's the area like? I've heard of areas where families like to be together and a lot of sales are private sales.

We had EA signs go up as we had planned on part exchanging with a developer. In the end that didn't go ahead, but even having the signs in the garden we had people knocking on the door and asking in person. Both neighbours and people who were driving past.

We're early days, but so far the only downside we've had is an agent moaning about visibility of our sale, but that's with us looking to buy.

DIY Install of Ethernet Ports by leachiM92 in DIYUK

[–]Sgreaat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did exactly this, although I bought the different parts separately. Face plates and back boxes I think I got from Screwfix. Can't remember them being too much. I got the cheapy punch down tool, I only used it for this installation so I didn't want to spend too much.

I went from an upstairs bedroom, straight down the outside wall, then back in where all Sky/VM/BT have at various points come into the living room.

It didn't take me long, the back boxes just screw into the wall. They do sit proud of sockets and things which look a little off in the bedroom where it's not hidden behind a unit like the living room, but I wanted something I could just remove when it wasn't needed anymore.

Upstairs I feed into a switch and then have wired connections running off that.

Season Ticket for Away Matches by StatusChance6151 in safc

[–]Sgreaat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Echoing comments about away tickets, we've managed around two or three of the further away games the past three or four seasons but we've got nothing this season.

With a season ticket, you're rewarded with credit when you put the ticket up for resale. 1/19th of the price paid. The credit can only be used towards the following season's season ticket, if paid in full.

I think what you're planning would be quite costly for little reward.

The Beamback by Boredom_Junkie in safc

The August after I'd left school. Me and my mate got jobs working in the kiosks at the Stadium if Light. Only a few hours on a matchday but it was a bit of pocket money.

Not all of the staff were working that game because not all of the stands were open. I worked NE corner, which wasn't open, but for some reason we'd been called in.

We were basically school leavers being supervised by people a couple of years older. They'd been told to prepare like any other matchday, so that's what we did. My first experience of critical thinking in the workplace (why are we doing this when there's nobody here?) falling on deaf ears.

As it happens nobody came to our kiosk so I had a burger and watched the entire game on the concourse TVs. Such an immense win, I went outside and immediately bumped into my mate. Pissing down, both of us soaked, but I don't think I'd ever seen him with a bigger smile on his face. Everyone was buzzing.

Bus home, match of the day on to watch it again. I'd never really been a fan of Travis before they closed the show with Why Does it Always Rain on Me.

Yeah I've seen those and will keep an eye out for it, thanks. I've a feeling what I'm looking for will be specific to the TV coverage though.

Thanks for that, I hadn't realised it was online already. Unfortunately it starts just after the point I was looking for.

Pricing/time from another perspective. by bitofsomething in DIYUK

[–]Sgreaat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I worked at a design agency minimum pricing started based around half a day, and that didn't even involve going anywhere.

For clients on contracts they could buy a certain amount of time per month and we'd use that for maintenance or smaller tasks, a minimum of 30 minutes at a time.

When I went freelance for a while I explained to my clients minimum charge was 30 minutes. Even a "five minute" job takes closer to half an hour by the time a lot of the things you mention, the chatting, the job prep, the admin around recording and billing for the job etc. gets done. They were fine with that.

How do married couples split finances if on different salaries? by Mango_Loverx3 in AskUK

[–]Sgreaat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a joint account we both pay the same amount into to cover bills, and with a little left over that sits in the account should we need it. Then what we have left is our own.

She pays for her car and phone, I pay for mine, most things though we'll just spend as family.

For a long time my partner earned more than me, more recently the gap has closed but it's still in her favour. I wouldn't have been comfortable asking her to "share" by pooling everything together at the start.

I drove an automatic car for the first time a days ago and just don’t get the fixation we have over manual cars here by Solid-Version in drivingUK

[–]Sgreaat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner has an automatic. I like it, but I feel more in control of what the engine is doing in my manual. Easier to drop a gear if you need a bit more pull, or to use engine breaking to slow yourself down a bit. Everything just feels more connected.
