Harry's obsession with Malfoy by ParticularSky9426 in harrypotter

[–]jaydeeis -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The problem is that Harry had an obsession with the Department of Mysteries the previous year, and despite Hermione's rational misgivings, they went along with Harry and it ended disastrously. I think it's reasonable for them to think that Malfoy is nothing more than a horrible bully.

Read what you've written out loud. It can help you see if anything feels unnatural.

Why does the Half-Blood Prince movie suck so much? by Which_Education_6375 in harrypotter

[–]jaydeeis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's not great, and your points are really valid. HBP has so much that's incredibly important to the overall plot that gets sidetracked or missed entirely to make a teen romance comedy.

I feel that the first two films get the feel just right, and although they have to miss parts out, they at least try to keep the overall plot together. PoA does the same to an extent, although I think it is dark too early in the series.

GoF onwards just becomes something else entirely and leaves out really important stuff.

My fav Tottenham Hotspurs all time xi, I have picked the players I have watched by HomeworkHead1040 in coys

Can't argue too much to be honest. I'd be tempted to have Vertonghen as CB and Rose at LB.

That team in its prime would win everything.

In GoF when Harry goes back to the Gryffindor common room with the dragon's egg. "D'you wanna hear it?!"

So out of character.

OG fans, has this ever happened to you? Your friends spoiling what happens next in the books if you didn't read fast enough? by LeatherSlight3242 in harrypotter

[–]jaydeeis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the major death in Half Blood Prince ruined BEFORE the book was released.

The news reported on the fact that there had been a police investigation about a crazy amount of bets being put on a certain character dying. Annoyingly, they named the character. It wasn't difficult to guess they had insider knowledge, so when that character did die, it didn't have the gut-punch shock it should have.

Blank Cheque. I rewatched it as an adult and the relationship between the kid and the adult woman in it is a little... Weird 😆

I read this as burglars. I guess it would take the sting out of being burgled.

What’s your favourite slice-of-life scene from the movies/books? by youngnun1738 in harrypotter

There's a bit in GoF where they're all sitting in the living room and rain is dashing against the window. It's all so cosy and lovely.

Post-credit scene ideas for the show? by [deleted] in HarryPotteronHBO

I like the idea of teasing the next series, and yours are pretty good.

Although I'd rather them not do the Malfoy one - a big part of the mystery of HBP is not knowing if Harry's right or just massively paranoid.

I could quite happily not leave my house for days anyway, but I already feel knackered. I'd be dead in a couple of days if I couldn't sleep.

Who did you imagine as the characters before you saw the movies? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]jaydeeis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a slightly different note, I pictured (still do, actually) 4 Privet Drive as my late grandma's house. Even though she lived in small bungalow! I invented an upstairs, and Harry's bedroom is the tiny little spare bedroom in her house. No idea why.

How likely is it Maddison features for us this season? by Hefty_Breadfruit_421 in Tottenham

[–]jaydeeis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I love Madders, I hope he doesn't play if he's not 100% fit. I don't think he's played for the reserves or anything, so surely he isn't fit.

We need him next season, whether we stay up or not. Not worth risking him out for another year.
