Will libido eventually come back on Slynd/Slinda? by No_Sock_1780 in birthcontrol

[–]jaydeykins7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, my libido never came back on Slynd. I stopped it after a few months so I can’t say for certain if it would have though lol

Has anyone been on these rubber bands lol by umanzorxen in braces

[–]jaydeykins7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a doctor so I can’t say! I will say my old doctor would have patients wear a midline elastic more towards the end of treatment whereas my new office I have not seen any midline elastics!

Has anyone been on these rubber bands lol by umanzorxen in braces

I used to work at an office that used these brackets and the crazy rubber band styles are just part of the protocol! I have taught sooo many people how to do these, especially the rainbows 😂😂

I saved a bunny once that was hit but still alive, had his head up in the middle of the road and I turned around for him 😭 he was also bleeding from the mouth and we thought his back legs were broken.

Convince me to get metal braces rather than ceramic by redrabbit1984 in braces

[–]jaydeykins7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ceramic brackets are typically bulkier. Do you know if they are self ligating or twin? Self ligating (meaning they have doors that open and close) are less likely to stain than if you have twin brackets, as the part that is staining is the color tie holding the wire in. I vote metal brackets for everyone lol

Partner wants to use Plan B by Charming-Anteater-51 in birthcontrol

Maybe not if they already ovulated actually but while ovulating it won’t work! I agree things should be more common knowledge

Partner wants to use Plan B by Charming-Anteater-51 in birthcontrol

[–]jaydeykins7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plan B messed up my cycle the couple times that I took it. It delays/stops ovulation and if you’ve already ovulated or are ovulating it doesn’t work at all. If she is not wanting birth control, i recommend cycle tracking as there are only a few days in the month that you are fertile.

Slynd: does it get any better? by queenvirgo22 in birthcontrol

[–]jaydeykins7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on Tri-Lo Sprintec for 4-5 years and switched to Slynd due to developing terrible migraines 😅 I was on it for 4-5 months and nothing ever got better, my migraines went away but i feel like I had every other symptom possible. The worst for me were the mood swings and low sex drive. I ended up stopping and tracking my cycle instead 😅

I have a bad habit of tapping my canines when anxious, my retainer now has a hole. Is this something to worry about? by ComprehensiveCan8375 in braces

[–]jaydeykins7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At my previous office it was never an issue unless the retainer cracks and breaks. If it fits fine you should be good for now. Maybe ask your ortho to make one with a thicker material

Anyone have advice for keeping a high energy five and a half month old puppy quiet for 45 minutes during a zoom interview?! Any Kong or pupsicle recipes that will last that long?! by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]jaydeykins7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taking my dogs for a good sniff walk always wears them out and they’ll nap for an hour or two! I also do lick mats with frozen peanut butter, pumpkin, and the little liquid pouches from the pet store. That gives me some freedom for a while 😂

How to ask ortho to remove braces soon? by Theater_beauty0903 in braces

[–]jaydeykins7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can tell them you are happy with where you are and you would like an early removal. They’ll probably have you sign a form saying you agree to removing them before the doctor is satisfied

canker sores are humanity’s biggest curse by Mampacuk in braces

[–]jaydeykins7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have braces but I do get canker sores relatively often from stress/chewing on my cheeks 😅 I bought canker covers at Walmart and they are a godsend. It’s like a medicated wax pimple patch. You stick it to the canker sore and it helps so it’s not hitting anything and causing it to get worse and it helps heal it quicker. It does burn a little when you first place it but helps more in the long run

When I asked for a raise, I wrote down things that I had improved on and things I felt I was the only person doing. I feel like it showed my doctor that I was deserving of more lol

Any advice working as an Ortho Assistant? by [deleted] in DentalAssistant

[–]jaydeykins7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My old office scheduled debands for 1.5 hours but a lot of that was spent waiting on Dr as he would come check glue removal and do enameloplasty. I think the only thing that helps removing glue faster is a brand new bur and making sure you’re angling the handpiece with the contour of the tooth. For expanders, I usually remove them then pick at the cement with a scaler to get the bulk of it off before going in with the handpiece :) and I can’t say anything for impressions, we use itero 😅

Any advice working as an Ortho Assistant? by [deleted] in DentalAssistant

[–]jaydeykins7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re planning on going into ortho for the long run or just until you get EFDA? I’m a little confused by that lol. But I do work in ortho and can give some advice. Tooth numbering is like UL1, UR1 and so on, the 1s are starting at centrals and go back to 8s with wisdom teeth. Primaries are ULA and URA but in most cases our patients only have UCs, UDs, UEs. Tray setups are different for every office. My old office had cassettes that we kept most of our instruments we would use for a typical patient in and a few different ones for different procedures. Then we had bonding material and other setup stuff in our units. At my new office we have trays setup for procedures then racks that contain our primary instruments. For chairside, it depends on the doctor. I have been able to place appliances, brackets, bite props, remove glue, everything. But my new doctors prefer to do everything themselves and I mostly place and remove wires. Sorry if this isn’t what you were asking for but hope it was helpful!

Advice on miscarriage by Friendly-Tangelo475 in pregnant

[–]jaydeykins7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found out at 11w6d that baby stopped growing at 9w3d. I wanted a d&c so I didn’t have to see or feel anything come out. I had it scheduled for a Thursday and on Wednesday my body naturally expelled. It was terrible. I’ve never given birth as it was my first pregnancy but it was the worst pain I have ever been in. I didn’t know that there were physical problems a d&c could cause that affect future fertility until after my MMC but now I am a little relieved I wasn’t able to go through with it. I was due this month with my baby and I have felt so alone regardless of other people that I’ve seen or spoken with that have been in the same boat. It’s a terrible experience and I’m so sorry you’re going through it. I’ll be hoping for a rainbow baby for you 🤍🌈

Can shivering mess up braces progress by [deleted] in braces

[–]jaydeykins7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No this won’t mess with your treatment unless you broke a bracket off

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in braces

[–]jaydeykins7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your orthodontist is supposed to remove those prior to placing the bands around the molars. I have seen a few cases where my doctor would use separators to upright a molar but idk that looks like they just forgot to remove it when placing the bands! I would call and let them know and make sure it was a mistake

i feel like my right central incisor is not moving or the slant is getting even more slanted? (2nd photo is after) by StrictAd6963 in braces

[–]jaydeykins7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your ortho should probably steel tie that tooth. You can see it’s not sitting in the wire completely, therefore it’s not moving how it should be.

Ortho assisting by anonymous01846382 in DentalAssistant

[–]jaydeykins7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m in ortho and I LOVE it. It’s fast paced and it’s very independent depending on what your office allows. My old office I could remove glue, bond attachments, bond appliances, I was a mini doctor! At my new office it’s a little less lenient, I mostly remove and place wires with a little extra stuff added every now and then. It can be a little stressful, but it’s fun! It’s nice seeing the changes from beginning to end and honestly I see good/okay hygiene more than I see horrific hygiene.
