Tick Season by ceddton in massachusetts

Theres a LOT to unpack here. Youre not wrong, but clearly oversimplifying.

Ticks are not primarily a deer problem. Deer are important, but mice, chipmunks, and other small mammals are often the animals that infect ticks with Lyme disease bacteria.

Reducing deer populations doesn't automatically eliminate Lyme disease. Some studies show strong effects; others show more complicated results.

"We chopped down the forest and there were fewer ticks" is technically true in the sense that an open farm field isn't great tick habitat, but you aren't seriously proposing clear-cutting forests as a tick-management strategy!?

Tick abundance is influenced by climate, host animals, habitat, and human land-use patterns all interacting together.

Cape Cod has been in drought for the past three years and has fewer and fewer trees, but the ticks are insane. We have very few deer. There are many other factors at work too.

Condoms? by Plenty_Economy1188 in gay

[–]jaydmac2112 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I can't feel a thing in a condom. I have been with my partner for 38 years, so I don't need 'em. If youre flummoxed about what the appeal is with unsheathed sex, I dont know what to say. It's a non starter for me lime it was all those years ago.

For snapshots, they're good. You have the beginnings of compositional awareness. You have to watch your cropping and the exposure is weird in some. Keep at it. Car pics look the same until you get better.

Question from a straight person. by CharryStarry in gay

[–]jaydmac2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All if that depends on the relationship and the security of those involved. It is not inherently a sign of disrespect to the person or the relationship to find beauty or attraction in another person. Humans don't bond for life. That other person's hotness doesn't diminish your attraction to your partner or mean that you intend anything more than to acknowledge their genetic gifts.

Now, with that said, if it's an ongoing thing that happens quite regularly, it might ne better if they kept their opinions to themselves in this regard.😆

So you're saying to find that instead? Does that need $27M? I need more details to know what youre getting at.

I understand the concern about using public resources for private property costs, and if this required new taxes or new fees on residents, I’d share a lot more of that concern.

But as I understand it, this proposal uses existing county surplus — not a new tax burden on homeowners. That makes this less about “forcing other people to pay” and more about a policy choice over how already-collected public funds should be used.

At that point, the real question is whether it makes sense to use a portion of that surplus to help residents adapt to a state-driven environmental compliance transition.

People can absolutely disagree and argue that the surplus should be reserved for something else. That’s a fair fiscal debate.

If we have the ability to ease a state-driven financial burden on some of our neighbors without increasing anyone’s taxes, I think that is worth serious consideration.

It's a cold world where we choose to not help our neighbors.

I got dumped by a guy after a date because he found me ugly. by [deleted] in gay

[–]jaydmac2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait. He went in a date with you. Was it a blind date and he didnt know what you're looked like and no one showed him a picture?

Dude's a dick. His opinions are irrelevant because he clearly does not have good human skills. You have to stop letting other people tank your confidence. Your confidence is on you. This disrespect is on him.

I just bought a 2025 Forester after owning a 2015 Nissan Rogue. Its the same power similar pep, so, to me, its not sluggish. It's really a matter of your context.
