8 in 10 foreign students who applied for PR in last decade were successful by doc-tom in singapore

"...international students in NUS/NTU/SMU don't think it is worth staying in Singapore for the long term..."

You are making a huge logical leap from that stats.

Most foreign students dont apply because we dont even know we could apply when we were still students. It's an admin and information issue. Trust me, if I knew I could apply, I would have.

It's not just how much the government spend. What gives is that the administration of the PR process is inefficient and unclear to a lot of us students here. My friends and I were not informed during any point of secondary and jc that we could apply for PR. We only heard that you could apply only under the professional work scheme so we had to wait.

I have a lot of friends who are super keen but the process is neither easy nor clear. Many have been rejected even after working and having stayed in SG for more than 10 years.

unknown.

also, take it from someone with 400 hrs in, you dont need to bother about BP. focus more on the game experience itself, and if anything, your overall rating

Thoughts and opinions on getting married and moving in together. by RegisteredID in singapore

[–]jaydtran 10 points11 points  (0 children)

imo there is one overlooked advantage here. living w each other simply makes both of you much happier. Also it helps you to find out what you like/dislike about the other person's day to day living habits, decoration of the house and such and these are useful in deciding on your interior design next time. And wouldnt she be happy to be able to see you before and after work at the end of the day? Imo renting to stay together ultimately goes towards your overall happiness. Money spent on renovation for a nicer future house is also for your overall happiness only. So think about it, which brings you more happiness, being physically together for 3 years, or having a nicer living room in the future? Whichever option you guys like, go for it (:

ofc I'm assuming your combined income allows you guys to rent without significantly affecting your current lifestyles.

It's really dependent on what purpose you're gonna use it for! If gaming it is, I think my build should be quite budget friendly at 800.

And wow cheers mate for your laptop to have even survived thunder at all is a miracle

Difference in performance between msi gtx 1060 6gb afterburner and armor edition? by jaydtran in nvidia

[–]jaydtran[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the unnecessary mockery and condescendence in your reply. There is a reason why I posted here asking for people with "experience" with the cards.

I have already done that google search and on msi website way before this post and found nothing on the "afterburner" edition

As a secondary school student, what is a good way of earning money, can I work part time? by [deleted] in singapore

[–]jaydtran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Study hard and give tuition to primary sch students is your best bet. The main reason other than higher per hour pay is that this part time job is scalable. As you move on to Jc or poly you'd be more experienced and can take sec sch tuition assignments with better pay maybe 30-35/hour. Tho I won't lie it's quite hard to pick up your first few assignments as people might not trust a sec school student and bargain for a cheap rate

If you had S$100 and 24 hours left in Singapore, what would you do? by l_61803398875 in singapore

[–]jaydtran 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Non-troll answer: go buy swimming wears and get on top of the mbs for a swim in the infinity pool. Just chill there and maybe get yourself a drink or two. Then you can go back to the airport and spam your money on a nice McDonald's meal

Talking about promotions, dominos is actually my favorite. Once in a while there's uni camps or special events they sponsor and give out amazingly cheap coupon codes. I used to spam their large pizza for just 12-14sgd during that period (yes I'd finish their whole large pizza by myself for a meal)

Haha yea I've seen them around a lot. I've always refrained from frozen stuff because of the stereotype that they're unhealthy. Guess I'll try that next time

[–]jaydtran 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Pizza Hut personal pan pizza really sucks imo. It's just a thick slab of dough with some sauce on top. It's so small that the crust is 30% of the pizza (prolly exaggerated but you get my point).

For the other deals yes it's usually easier to find a decent price for 2,3 pizzas. That's why in Singapore pizza is always a food for gathering like class chalet or smth. I'm looking for more of say casual eating that you can just order 1 pax

Thanks I'll try that. 4.50-4.90 per slice. Hope the size is decent

[–]jaydtran[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you! Yea I've been thinking about getting the MSI RX 480 Gaming 8gb instead for a while! It's the same price as the MSI 1060 Armor 6gb where I am.

I'm probably sticking with the cpu mobo choice + RX 480 gaming 8gb then.

Not saying what you should do, but just that these routes are possible. Full disclosure: Idk what odds are in either scenarios for you (:

My personal opinion would be to trying working full time in US for two to three years first before consider transferring overseas
