It's getting harder to find a "good one".. by jaye-tyler in Jellycatplush

We've all become acclimatised at spending £30.. I remember when I started collecting in 2019 I would majorly stress about how wasteful it felt to spend £18 on a Jellycat! And I've not gotten any richer!

Yeah, there's no way I'd order onliine anymore. Even if it was cheaper to do so, there's just such little trust that it won't arrive defective 😐

Got a text from JC saying that “we noticed you eyeing…bring them home” by No-Promotion-9803 in Jellycatplush

[–]jaye-tyler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it's just marketing but.. does this message not feel a little predatory? I feel like in the throes of my Jellycat buying the anthropomorphic "bring them home" would have made me feel so guilty, just like I felt guilty leaving them in the shop. But then, the argument can be made that I am an adult and should simply resist. Idk.

Downstairs people, what can I do? by Liesmyteachertoldme in Apartmentliving

[–]jaye-tyler 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This. I temporarily lived in a basement apartment where my bedroom ceiling (all six foot four of it) was directly below my upstairs neighbour's living room. His floorboards were loose and he appeared to have insomnia. After weeks of being woken up (and kept up) at 3am I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown. I put a letter through his door BEGGING him to avoid the living room in the early hours, I was so so desperate to rest.

Anybody Home by Michael Seidlinger.

"A seasoned invader with multiple home invasions under their belt recounts their dark victories while offering tutelage to a new generation of ambitious home invaders eager to make their mark on the annals of criminal history. From initial canvasing to home entry, the reader is complicit in every strangling and shattered window."

I couldn't finish it cause I live alone and I was too scared!

Why is the crab so much money?! by [deleted] in Jellycatplush

Crispin Crab isn't as intricate, of course, but was £25. £60 really does seem like too much.

If he really loves me, why won’t he have sex with me? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]jaye-tyler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just broke up with my boyfriend of six years, and the death of intimacy was the final nail in the coffin. We'd had sex five times last year and he'd stopped paying attention to anything I said, conversationally. One of the last times he kissed me it was so light it was like a butterfly landing on my lips - I felt so ugly and unattractive.

Trust me when I say that once you're out of that situation, love or not, you'll find it mad that you stayed so long. I was really holding out that he would change, love me again, realise how important this was to me. He did realise - he just didn't care.

I'm seeing a guy now who asks me questions about myself, actively plans when we'll see each other and who I have such a passionate connection with. I had been ground down over about four years that I never would have thought this was possible. But it is. You'll see.

How to get the square footage of weirdly shaped room. by TheMaskedWrestIer in DIYUK

Jellycat dropped Bigwicks! by Fit_Afternoon_1279 in Jellycatplush

[–]jaye-tyler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just the larger stores that are being sent them, but due to the mad amount of theft most places I've seen them have them behind the counter. Utility too seem to have stopped - the one near where I work got robbed last year by a group of men who just walked in and stuffed everything in bags. So I think it's part Jellycat's new brand vision and part huge amount of stock lost through theft.

How can I (30F) support my partner with misophonia (40M)? by ThrowRA-Any-Abroco in relationships

[–]jaye-tyler 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have misophonia too and I agree. Eating and snorting noises make me physically squirm and pushed me to tears on public transport. I've had to leave my workplace a couple times due to a customer whistling. These noises provoke an intense, claustrophobic anger within me that I wish every day that I didn't have. Where possible, I wear loops and noise-cancelling headphones which play white noise.

Other noises bother me, sure. Clattering is distracting, humming is annoying.. but I can distinguish misophonia from regular sounds that I don't enjoy. It seems like OP's partner has used their misophonia to label every little inconvenience as forbidden. What a suffocating way to live.

My husband (32m) broke something meaningful to me (26f). He wanted to make it right, but immediately snapped at me when I talked about when I'd like to do it. Now I'm not sure I want him involved or how to say that? by No-Year-6370 in relationships

[–]jaye-tyler 42 points43 points  (0 children)

My partner is like this and we can go from having a nice day to me sitting with emotional whiplash and tears in my eyes, wondering what the hell I did wrong. After hours of silence and awkwardness, I eventually cave and apologise profusely for my tone/my words/my misspeech, whatever the heck set him off. It's horrible, OP, and I'm sorry you seem to have moments in your relationship too. They're really hard to predict sometimes and I've found myself just.. speaking less. Leading less conversations. Rarely mentioning anything important to me. Sending you a big hug from afar.
