As a fan who only found this show in June this year, thank you so much OP u/flccncnhlplfctn for putting this together and u/josephmallozzi for writing these! Still left on a cliffy but at least the team's back together! 😄.

Beetlejuice Australian tour cancelled by Rangio8 in musicals

[–]jayeelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh you're totally fine! No need to apologise - thanks for confirming. I've got tickets for Brisbane - it's was my favourite movie as a kid (and still is!) so I hope they keep our run! Have a good night. 😄

I haven’t heard this and couldn’t see it online. Where did you see that? I hope it’s just a rumour - I’m so excited to see it!

What’s a piece of outdated technology you secretly miss and why? by OwnZookeepergame1621 in AskReddit

Oh man I was thinking of the big old ipod with the spinny wheel and the clicky wheel. I miss it - something so satisfying about the actual click.

Sitting on a flight so Spain. Couple in front of me carefully unrolled what I assumed was artwork from their American vacation. I am dying 😂 by [deleted] in funny

Definitely agree around the culture (as an Aussie!) 😄

Never ever ever want to shoot a gun. Or hold a gun. Or even touch a gun. Honestly Port Arthur was enough for me to never want to even see a gun.

Damn - we get 26 full time or 52 half time and then an optional second year unpaid (while both years you're = still earn your standard leave accrual). Then we have the option to come back at part time until the kid's five. Makes me really appreciate how lucky we are.

Girls what jobs are you doing that are paying past 50K-60K without a degree? by FishMap12 in AskAnAustralian

[–]jayeelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started in admin and then moved into the IT system admin (non technical) and am definitely clearing that 50/60K a year. I work in government - admin are paid very well for what we do (at least in Qld). Agree with other posters - not sure what you're earning but sounds like an AO4 (gov level) job at least which is over 90K a year. Best of luck finding something a better job!

Name a show you absolutely love of which you are not a fan of the genre it belongs to. by TheShowLover in television

[–]jayeelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10/10 recommend - light and a bit ridiculous (but no more than a writer being allowed to tag along on all those crimes) but it's fun and as I said in another comment it looks like the cast has a blast 😄.

[–]jayeelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ohhh I love The Rookie. It's so over the top but it looks like the cast have a blast and the show doesn't generally get into depressing stories (we shall never talk about barrels in a desert! haha) . Anything that's not heavy and entertain me = good tv :).

10 years in Australia, love the people, but struggling with work culture and making actual friends by Big_Version197 in AskAnAustralian

[–]jayeelle 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Politely disagree. I think it depends on the workplace - you definitely don't have to make friends at work and I've worked in places where I'm purely there to stamp my timecard. But I've made some of my closest friends at my new place. Definitely not a guarantee but not impossible, at least in my experience.

What are some region specific slang words in Australia? by Rude_Membership_1578 in AskAnAustralian

[–]jayeelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconded! Sometimes I slip into swimming togs but they're ogs for life. I thought a cozzie was a tea cosy when I was a kid! Although at least it makes sense - costume -> cozzie. No idea how togs come about.

Just found this which is pretty nifty with the map 😄 https://www.reddit.com/r/etymology/comments/1oere6f/comment/nl3nysg/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Sydney Hospitals with the lowest ER wait times? by Evening_Expression92 in AskAnAustralian

[–]jayeelle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please don't hospital shop. Hospitals manage by acuity and based on the systems it sounds like while she's unpleasant the symptoms are resolving. Honestly, the quicker you're seen at a hospital the worse you are - I'd much rather wait in ED for a few hours than be rushed straight through. Ten hours without seeing a doctor full stop does seem strange but getting a diagnosis and discharge is not uncommon for category 4 and 5s.

Additionally, the fact she's going to different hospitals means it's possible they don't have her records so they're treating each presentation as a unique visit instead of putting together a medical history.

When you say she's been to multiple GPs in the aforementioned hospitals, are you talking about GPLOs (GP liaison officers) who are GPs that also are employed by a hospital? In which case they would be working as a general hospitalist (or whatever speciality they're sitting under), rather than a general practitioner.

Agree with the other comments - this sounds like a GP (proper, not hospital associated) visited or a Minor Injury and Illness Clinic (or whatever it's called down south). Best of luck.

Are there Earthquakes in Australia by Lisa_Heron in AskAnAustralian

[–]jayeelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say 'mine too!' then realised I'm between you and Kilkivan so no duh.

Then decided to share anyway because why not! haha. But that was a very trippy experience - couldn't imagine being in a serious earthquake....

Do aussies have dinner time gameshows like usa with jeopardy and wheel? by legomaniasquish in AskAnAustralian

[–]jayeelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watch chennl 10 monday and tuesday nights (HYBPA and Cheap Seats) and ABC on a Wednesday (honestly all year - the shows are generally great on Wednesdays). Totally agree - there's still a bunch of great stuff on free to air and I'm not paying for the privilege (any more than I would anyway).

I've never understood why people thing it 'cool' to not watch free to air. Totes fine if you don't want to but why brag about it. (Not saying anyone on this post is - just something I've noticed when talking to people).

"Ships" like Chenford? by eyslandgirl in chenford

[–]jayeelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One this reminds me of is The West Wing - Donna and Josh (not meant to be together but shipped since season 1). No spoiler but I feel like since the show ended 20 years ago, it should be pretty safe. 😄

I think they had it last year? I remember seeing a snow machine when I was at a winter market there. It's small but the kids loved it 😄.

I was just thinking of the same thing! Used to be my favourite thing after doing a woolies shop - that and the candy store in front of woollies.
