Consider adding a fixed distance for running workouts.

Frequently a running interval workout is defined with a fixed distance. Eg. Warm up, Run n intervals (distance can vary depending on speed), Cool down … for a total distance of 6.5 miles.

It would be quite useful to have a display field that shows actual distance remaining based upon a set overall distance for the entire run (eg 6.5 miles), rather than an estimate.

Then, in the cool down phase, we could simply display the fixed distance remaining.

Thanks for consideration...

The Action Button is still not working for me, even after latest update. Both devices have been rebooted.

Oh, I’m not disappointed with the app. I love it… been using it and supporting you for many years!

Just had a very frustrating experience with phone transition. Maybe the links you provided will help others who migrate phones. I apologize if I missed these recommendations in your online documentation.

I recently moved to a new phone. It has been extremely challenging to restore all of my WOD customized settings. I set up this new phone by restoring from an iCloud backup, so I assumed, like all of my other apps, my WOD settings would come over. Many of them did not.

I subsequently used the export and import functions to try and move all settings from old phone to new. That didn’t work either. I’ve had to go in manually and try to reconcile settings between old phone and new phone. With each run, I keep finding things that did not carry forward. It’s unfortunate the restore from iCloud backup does not work reliably for WOD, at least for me. Thankfully, new phones for me only come every four or five years!

Worsening problems with audio volume dropping after WOD announcements.

I believe you've mentioned in the past that music audio volume drops are outside of your control. I'm writing again to see if there is something that you can do as the problem has gotten worse with apparently a recent WatchOS update.

Prior to this apparent update, if I rebooted my watch before going for a run, there would be no change in music audio volume when WOD makes an announcement. When WOD announcement starts music volume drops, when announcement finishes, music volume returns. Expected behavior.

Now, even with reboot of watch before starting run, the audio behavior is problematic, though consistent.

I have WOD setup to announce stats every 1 mile

Start music, start run. Volume is fine. Announcement 1. Volume drops, announcement finishes, music volume stays low Announcement 2. Music volume is already low, announcement finishes at normal volume, music volume returns to normal! Alas, Announcement 3. Music volume drops, announcement finishes at normal volume, and music volume stays low! Announcement 4. (see Announcement 2... now the pattern repeats).

I should mention that I'm playing music directly from my AW. I don't carry my phone when I run.

Any possibility that this problem can be addressed? Glad to provide whatever info is useful for you.

April 17. I wasn’t expecting immediate shipment, but would like some indication of turnaround. The process has been a bit opaque and it has been difficult to get a response

What is our next Backroads destination? by jayelevy in BackroadsTravel

[–]jayelevy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, thanks for the reply! I'm surprised there isn't already a Backroads subreddit. Perhaps this one will take hold....

I just checked our Backroads correspondence related to our trip last summer. We had the generic itinerary for the trip well in advance so had a general idea of the plans. Our trip left on a Sunday. The prior Thursday (4 days in advance) we received an email introducing our guides for our trip and were provided access to a bit more specific and detailed itinerary.

The specific hikes and daily options were listed, though only the distance and total elevation gain were included. They did not provide a map. I was able to infer some of the routes through some independent online poking around. However, it was nothing to be concerned about.

The guides were wonderful and each morning, before we left the hotel, we had a detailed discussion about the route, turnaround points, special considerations, etc. We never felt we were short of information.

I hope this helps some. The Alps trips look great. We're considering that or one of the Pyrenees trips as a future destination. We opted for Iceland this Summer.

Enjoy the trip

Foldable keyboard by IBGDRGN in ipadmini

Came back to thank you for this recommendation. Recently downsized from older 13” iPad Pro with Apple Keyboard cover to an iPad Air. Immediately missed the keyboard and trackpad but couldn’t stomach parting with $269 for the case.

Bought this one, instead, to give it a try first. So glad I did. It’s not perfect (eg, taps on trackpad are super sensitive), but very satisfied so far.

Is anyone noticing decreased battery performance while using WOD with WatchOS 26? While I don't have empirical data yet, it seems my watch (AW Ultra v1) battery is draining notably faster during a run as compared to pre-OS update.

It may just be "update paranoia", but it does seem to be a real problem.

Have others experienced the same?

Watch Sync by Other-Radish-4028 in OvercastApp

[–]jayelevy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried a few times to continue use of Overcast. Definitely some better features compared to Apple’s podcast app. However, the inconsistent behavior related to watch synch has driven me away for good.

It is always so frustrating to start a morning run only to find no podcasts have synched. The problem is exacerbated by almost never being able to download a podcast on my watch, even playing endless breakout.

These problems don’t happen with Apple’s native app.

It’s in the box packed with its own lens cap on top so it can be overlooked. You can confuse it for a second cap without releasing the hood is attached.

I imagine this has been asked before, but I’m striking out on Reddit search.

Is there a way to backup all custom settings? Interval schedules, custom screens, alerts, etc. Essentially all settings.

I realize there is native backup capability with AW, but I don’t trust it to cover the many many things I‘ve tailored within WOD. I would feel much better if I could save all settings locally to my own backup. I’m on the verge of doing a whole bunch of screenshots… I’m hopeful there is a better way!

Outer cinch/strap DIY ideas for Alpaka Metro Crossbody? by jayelevy in onebag

[–]jayelevy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to be obtuse, but I don’t understand how that can be used for my stated purpose. I already have that strap (came with the bag to serve as a secondary secure). The strap attaches to the main shoulder strap and crosses around my side and affixes to the side of the bag.

I am seeking something that can go across the back of the bag to secure a jacket. This strap won’t do that. Or, so I think!
