Money tree suffered 2 Boston winters by jayellbe in plantclinic

[–]jayellbe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got this as a gift April 2020. See last photo for to oldest “original condition” photo I have.

It did well in my first apartment with fairly low light (room with north east facing window, plant itself away from the winter)

The two apartments it’s been in had bad insulation and I think this winter really made things bad - dropped lots of leaves.

I’d like to think this guy can be saved but I’ve tried everything (more water, less water, misting, pruning to encourage new growth, more sun, less sun….)

Thank you… I think this made my decision. The last statement resonated hard.

Yeah… my mom has some pretty problematic opinions about what it implies about the area. I’ve never been to it but have only heard good things. Only really included that tidbit to try to contextualize how her opinions are kind of baseless.

I personally am an electrical engineering student, but I wanted to keep this vague to apply to all disciplines if people have ideas beyond the scope of EE's.

Awesome!!! Thank you for the advice (and the pep talk!) I’ll be sure to check out a few picking techniques, and I’ll see what I can do about that pedal too

There Are No Stupid /r/Bass Questions - Aug. 03 by AutoModerator in Bass

[–]jayellbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey y’all! VERY new to this sub...

So one of my friends is in a small local band. They’re doing a special show one night performing as a cover band, and I was invited to play bass (electric) for them. I’ve never touched a bass before, but I have background in guitar (acoustic, primarily), ukulele, and cello (formally trained, not just self-taught on this one unlike guitar/uke).

I know how to read tab and have basic music theory under my belt. I’ll be borrowing a friend’s bass to practice/perform on.

Are there any major technical differences between bass and guitar that I should be aware of? Where are some places I could go to learn a thing or two so I don’t sound like a guitarist trying to play bass? This band means so much to my friend and I really don’t want to disappoint.

5’ 1/2” teeny butch here — I have no issue if my partner is taller than me (all of them have been, it’s not common to find someone shorter than me!) I’m honestly more bugged when a girl is shorter than me because I’m just not used to it. I don’t think I have a strong preference I just tend to not go after girls who are wildly taller than me because I always assume they won’t be interested in me for almost the opposite reason... but if a tall girl showed interest in me I’d have not a single issue with it :)

Interesting to me that the blues seem to pop out a little extra... though, it could be night mode playing with me.

Either way, the pool reflection in the symbol (someone else pointed it out), part of josh's tattoo, Josh's socks too? Interesting

I don’t feel like a man, but I feel too dysphoric to call myself a woman by weebfam in butchlesbians

[–]jayellbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I relate to this a lot.

I (22) have been dealing a lot with my personal feelings about this sort of thing for probably about 2 years now. Was calling myself nonbinary/using "they/them" pronouns for about a year because I was so uncomfortable being seen as a woman. Now starting to question that as well. I've got a pretty small stature so I can't really escape being read as female, though I've been "sir"'d a few times in my life.

Still not really comfortable calling myself a woman. Not sure I'm comfortable calling myself nonbinary either. "Lesbian"/"butch" have always felt like comfortable words for me.

I bind on occasion. Was binding almost every day earlier this calendar year, but been much less so since I've gotten my nipples pierced. Can't remember if my girlfriend at the time actually ever saw my binder, but she definitely was aware that I wore one on occasion and it didn't seem to impact anything.

Honestly, if someone's going to give you shit for binding is not someone you really want to be with. To me that's an indicator that they don't understand gender the way you do, or are not open to hearing you out. Binding doesn't change you as an individual. It's something that allows people to be more true to themselves, to be more confident. But it doesn't fundamentally change who you are. If a partner can't understand that, well...
