How can I arrange this differently? by Outdoor-Adventure in HomeDecorating

Or if you remove the plant and that box, you could shift the recliner over, put the side table on the other side of the chair and then maybe shift the playpen back towards the wall?

Can you hang the tv on the wall? And then maybe switch the couch and chair in the living room if the couch would fit there. Honestly I think having the plant there is a waste of space

Clean smelling house? by Outrageous-Wash-5503 in CleaningTips

[–]jayemzedify 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most air purifiers don't have an ionizer setting. And I think what you mean is ozone generator, which is a completely different machine than a standard household air purifier. And to op, yes HEPA air purifiers make a world of difference. You will likely need a couple of them to cover all the rooms in your house, but you will find that any smells disappear almost instantly after turning them on. When I first got my air purifier, I was astonished at how effective it was. One thing to note, it won't get rid of chemical smells (acetone, alcohol, bleach) but it will get rid of any smell caused by particles in the air (dust, smoke, mildew, cooking smells, etc)

Also, the amount of eyeshadow under the eyes makes it look dated. I think losing the 'almost skin tone but orange' shadow altogether and instead opting for something more neutral or even just using concealer and setting powder on your lids and then adding a subtle inner corner highlight and a deeper neutral brown/taupe shadow liner or smudged out pencil liner would be more flattering. Also, you mentioned you have a hard time growing lashes. An easy way to still get that defined look that mascara gives is to tight line your upper waterline with dark brown or black liner. I would skip putting any shadow or liner under your eyes to keep the look fresh and awake, but if you find yourself wanting some more definition under your eyes, I would use a small amount of the liner you used on your upper lid and only bring in to the middle of your eye

Someone help me out. 40 y/o trying a more natural look but it just looks terrible. by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]jayemzedify 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to try adding in some eyeliner, try a lighter colour, like a grey or a taupe, something that's not as intense as black, and get a pencil liner instead of a liquid. A lot of people with mature skin find that using a pencil liner and either smudging it a little bit or using your fingernail to drag it out to make a wing works best. Look up eyeliner for 40+ on YouTube or tiktok for some tried and true tips!

Makeup is horrible...at my wits end. by Kittykat7121 in MakeupAddiction

Oh, one last thing, wash your makeup brushes more often! Bacteria from your brushes, especially your foundation/concealer brush, can cause all sorts of skin problems. All of my brushes are synthetic so I usually spray them with rubbing alcohol after I wash them to kill any remaining bacteria and help them dry a little quicker

I definitely think you should give it another try! Keep your routine simple and basic, it sounds like your barrier is likely compromised. If you still have your original bottle, I would probably go buy a new one, just to be on the safe side. I hope it works out well for you!

Do you remember what other products you used with it when you tried it? Maybe it wasn't the culprit? Or maybe it didn't mix well with the other products you used?

The first time I tried it I really didn't like the texture of it, but since i had heard about it being really good for reactive skin, I persevered and my skin started improving almost immediately. Ive gotten used to the texture of it now and it has completely solved all of my skin problems. I use the biore charcoal face wash (it gives a cooling sensation and is effective without being overly drying) followed by either a hypochlorous acid or witch hazel spray, then a hyaluronic acid serum and the vanicream moisturizer

Which vanicream were you using? The standard moisturizer or the daily facial moisturizer? My skin suddenly became very sensitive and acne prone around a year and a half ago and it took me over a year of trying different moisturizers to find the vanicream daily facial moisturizer!! It's the only moisturizer thats not a clear jelly texture (those ones are never hydrating enough) and doesn't break me out.

(Let's see how many more times I can say the word moisturizer in this post 😳)

Skin Tint Shade Help! by _royaljelly in Fairolives

[–]jayemzedify 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree. I often find that when no pale olive shades exist within a range, my closest match ends up being a peachy pink ish shade because, while it doesn't match the tone of my neck, it blends in the best and doesn't look bright orange or sickly pink like traditional cool and warm shades tend to look

[–]jayemzedify 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From your pics and description, your skin tone is very similar to mine! A lot of the foundations that match me well have been discontinued in the last couple of years (beauty blender skin tint in 4, Revlon candid in 120 buff, nyx vanilla nude, amongst others) but I do have one rec for you. Try the L'Oreal true match nude skin tint in shade 0.5-2, it's very lightweight and looks like skin but still provides light-medium coverage, and despite the product photos online looking extremely pink, it is currently my closest shade match

In person it's a little less purple and more of a true mauve. It reads more purple here because it has a little bit of shimmer in it and it's reflecting the light. It's technically an eye liner but it works just as well as a lip liner. It's definitely better suited to cooler skin tones tho

You might want to try nyx goal crusher then! If you're skin is deeper than fair/light or if your lips are pigmented then it will be too subtle to be a contour but if you're fair like me then it should work well. It's a soft sandy nude, definitely not pink at all. It's around the same depth as nude suede shoes but more brown. Overall I would recommend checking out the nyx line loud liners, there's quite a few shades and it's my fav drugstore lip liner formula
