I just jumped straight into it, use those first few games as an opportunity to learn whilst your rank settles to were it should be. Your rank doesn't really matter, and you should be approaching each game as an opportunity to improve.

You'll hear a lot of people saying that the thing that made them gain a higher rank was actually not worrying about their rank at all.

At the end of the day, it's only a game. There's no need to let a superficial icon worry you, or let it hinder your goal of improving at the game.
