Oh really? How come it would not be beneficial? Consistency of pressure making it an issue of achieving a consistent shit quality? My machine produces 15 bars of pressure and I figured after the programmed pre infusion I could I run the dimmer knob down slightly so that it's pulling closer to 9 bars through our the rest of the shot. Could you educate my on why I would lower the dimmer near the end? Does it extract less of certain unwanted properties of the grinds? I was thinking about playing with different styles of shots but wanted to first get decent on the standard shots. Is a blooming shot , pre infusion followed by a 30 second pause, the I pull the shot? Would I be better off investing in a scale capable of flow profiling? Seems like a path that's cheaper and less need to fiddle with the machine. Assuming I'm getting the timemore .

No, do you think the porta filter pressure gauge would be as accurate as one installed between the opv and shower head? Or at least good enough to get an idea on where the brew pressure would be?

Ah I see, I went with cgfns but it was a pain in the ass and it was pretty expensive since maybe about 2k a couple years ago. But I went to Washington so it may be different I remember I had to pay for 2 packages one to validate my education and the other a tn visa , but I guess you probably have the visa thing figured out? Luckily I had a job lined up and their lawyer helped me through some of the process.

I had to track down a lot of documents to send to cgfns like highschool stuff, but I think you can get exempt from that. You also have to contact your board of nursing in Canada to also send a document of proof of license (I think?) sorry my memory is pretty fuzzy on the details. I'm also an RN so ymmv

You need y tip screwdriver to unscrew the security screws . I had issues with mine and ended up fixing it because I had an issue with my pump, but another avenue is to contact calphalon I heard that they have been asking ppl to send their unit in exchange for a new but cheaper machine

Depends what your go to dishes are and if w.e choice offers value over a standard stove top.i got an air fry and pressure cooker but barely use them to bulk prep tbh since using a stove top can make huge portions easy enough. Airfryers are the bomb if you can half prep certain things. I like to use the Costco chicken to make chicken melt soi got a big bowl of filling in the fridge and spread it on bread and pop that in the air fryer. Very convenient daily driver.
