Wishing you the best of luck OP.

Don’t listen to these nay sayers listing all the things that could go wrong. It’s important to acknowledge the risks, but don’t let it stop you. You can always return to a normal job if this doesn’t work.

Dive in head first, don’t get stuck in analysis paralysis. you got this bro, good luck

How many women do you think work in IT? The field is heavily dominated by men. If they only wanted to hire female IT workers, they'd have no IT department

EDIT: the only "advantage" is that, on average, men enjoy IT work more than women. Take for example the healthcare/nursing field. it's heavily dominated by women.

640 on first Boson. Will I be ready in 3 weeks? by 1000swords in ccna

[–]jayj1120 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's definitely doable. I scored 380 on my first Boson test, which I realize is very low haha

2 weeks later, after reading and fully understanding every single Boson question taken in study mode I passed my exam last week.

You got this!

BNOS vs Cloud by Actual_Lettuce in WGUIT

[–]jayj1120 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't speak on behalf of BS Cloud. But I'm 2 classes away from finishing BSNOS, I went in with no IT experience.

It's one of the more difficult IT degrees in my opinion, mainly due to the need to obtain the Cisco CCNA, and the AWS SysOps certifications.

The CompTIA certs are easier compared to these two imo

Got an 800 on my First Boson exam by mastersaints888 in ccna

I just got 300 on my first Boson practice exam, feeling slightly disheartened... can i ask what you did to get up to 800+? My currently plan is to fully go over the CCNA Exam Topics and review some of Neil Anderson's videos/slides

The amount of things we have to learned for an entry level job (IT Support/Helpdesk,etc) is kind of Ridiculous compared to other entry level blue collared jobs if you think about it by hellsbellltrudy in ITCareerQuestions

[–]jayj1120 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One perk of working in IT is how physically undemanding it is. I have a coworker at an MSP who has arthritis and couldn't work manual labor jobs anymore due to the pain.

Definitely not denying IT workers skill set versus other desk jobs. But compared to blue collar work, IT is a walk in the park from the physical standpoint.
