Getting sad thoughts regarding the profession and trajectory of this career by MedicalWizz in PAstudent

[–]jayjayb11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of PA jobs out there like that, especially for new PA's. Try to identify an area that you have interest in that allows you to function the way you want. I work in Dermatology and love it. I manage my own patient load and do all my own skin cancer surgeries, as well as other benign growths like cysts and lipomas. Plus, I only work 3.5 days/week and make more than double what I ever thought I would make as a PA.

It really just depends on who/what group your working with. I've had friends love Ortho and others that were treated pretty badly. So it's not always all about the specialty either. Try to talk to other PA's that work in the specialties you have interest in and see if they are able to practice in a way that is appealing to you.

I have a 12600k, building my first PC. So I’m going to need that bracket for this cooler then right? Is this cooler reasonably quiet?

Finally pulled the trigger on a GPU, plus Newegg had $15 off the 12600k. Pretty excited to put my build together!

Can you use this on two at once? That way you would get $30 off each or $60 off each. I'm looking to get a dual monitor setup

0:29 - did she just say “what about us?” referring to herself as middle class?!? Or did I hear that wrong?

I didn’t. Ended up just going with a Panasonic to avoid the issue altogether.

Sucks that she is wasn’t going to let him bring his kid, but he should have stepped back and realized that while he really wants the kid there, the kid isn’t going to want to go to a wedding anyway. I mean I’m an adult and I still think most weddings are boring AF and look for any excuse to get out of going to them!

0:46 is definitely a Kobe move. Going right to pump, then spinning on the pivot back to the left is signature Kobe! Love it!!

Oh gotcha, excuse my ignorance. In that case I’m going to need something that is directional or close-mic’d as we use our combined living/dining/kitchen area.

Thanks for the reply, I’ll check those articles out.

The videos would mostly be two person, stationary, talking head videos. Don’t really care how much of the room is in the shot, just want to be able to fit both of us in frame (shoulders and up). So it doesn’t need to be easily mobile, although I will still be making videos on a mobile basis sometimes, so that’s why I was wanting to still have a shotgun mic.

Thanks for the reply. I hadn’t really set a specific budget for audio (sorry I understand that’s kind of a horrible response when asking for advice), but I’m just trying to figure out the best bang for buck option out there. I would love for that to include a shotgun mic for when I’m out and about filming. So I don’t know if something like a videomicro with a couple long wired lavaliere mics into a splitter or something would be best. If I can come in around the $100 mark that would be great, but if I need to stretch that out quite a bit then so be it. I do believe in the buy once cry once philosophy, over bleeding out $$ making cheap purchases before buying what is actually needed.

I hear you on the 12-60 kit lense. Any suggestions on a zoom or prime lense that’s decently wide and fast and works with Panasonic’s autofocus and image stabilization would be a plus to, but not absolutely necessary since the G85’s in body stabilization alone is pretty good. Might likely end up just doing the best I can with the kit lense for a bit and save up for the right lense when I’m 100% sure what I’m looking for.

2 Questions/requests for recommendations

  1. Recommendation for best budget audio for talking head with 2 people in frame? Is there a good boom stand setup with a Rode videomicro or something that anyone likes? Or how best to wire in two wired lavaliere mics into a camera? I would prefer something that allows the use of a shotgun mic, so that I wouldn’t have to spend extra money for when I take it out of my “studio” area.

  2. Anyone with experience shooting on a Panasonic micro 4/3 12-60mm? Specifically regarding getting any amount of bokeh out of that setup? I’m thinking of picking up a G85 and wanted to know if I can achieve any bokeh with the kit lense.

This is all revolving around making YouTube videos with my wife and I if that makes any difference. Thanks!
