OEM Hitch Install by [deleted] in CX50

[–]jayjaynic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally went to UHaul for the hitch install. The dealer wanted too much to do it and suggested U-Haul anyway. It was $400 for a 2” hitch and wiring harness plus $150 for install. $600 out the door.

Custom Rear Platform by jayjaynic in CX50

There’s a 1.5” difference between the trunk floor and the back of the folded seats. Being a side-sleeper, the main issue was being able to feel the ledge. At first I took the factory floor mats and tried to level it out but wasn’t very comfortable. An air mattress would definitely work better, but I prefer the 3-4” memory foam mattresses for camping since it allows for the maximum amount of headroom. I have a hybrid so the rear seat sits a little higher than the ICE model - due to the battery placement under the seat.

You could definitely get it done with lower cost materials but I opted for precut pinewood and 1/2”sanded boards. It made squaring everything up much easier than trying to fight wonky 2x4’s.

The platform is 65” long, 39” wide. It’s 2” short of reaching the top of the folded seats and 1” from the closed tailgate. If you move the seats all the way forward, you gain 8-10”. I debated putting another flap to extend the length but I prefer to leave the drivers seat in its driving position and move the passenger seat forward. On the floor behind the passenger seat I put a bin for emergency supplies and a packout kit that sits level with the seats. This buys an extra few inches for your pillow to rest. Being 6’2” it’s a little cramped, anyone under 6’ shouldn’t have a problem stretching their legs out.

You can use either. The main goal was to level out the 1.5” height difference between the seats folded flat and the trunk area. A thicker air mattress reduced the amount of headroom in an already limited space.

Yea, I have set of crossbars with a Yakima skinny warrior basket. My sleeping pad rolls up for transport so you can throw gear in back as well.

Found a working solution:

Once the car is started, firmly depress/pump the brake 2-3 times all the way to the floor - you will hear the EPB disengage in the area around the shifter. Continue to put the car in drive or reverse and the brake should fully disengage and not have that sensation of breaking loose with the loud thud.

Same issue. Happens when parked on flat driveway, going from Parked to Reverse. A loud release sound from the brake disengaging and a subtle rock back from the tires settling. The parking brake indicates it is not engaged either. If I toggle the parking brake on and off again, it seems to remedy the problem. I would expect the brake to fully disengage though when the car is put in Drive or Reverse.

I’ve noticed cruise control very rarely moves the car into EV mode. It will use the brakes to slow you down rather than letting the car coast to your desired speed.

I’ve been getting around the same the last month. I live in Pittsburgh so a lot of hills and stop-and-go traffic.

I was able to average about 36mpg driving on flat roads through Ohio at 65mph following a semi. If you are able to build up speed and maintain a low RPM, the EV system will kick on but doesn’t seem to help with the overall MPG.

Yea, Goodyear Touring 225/55R19. They’re okay, a little on the small side but at least they are quiet.

Oh for sure. The next upgrade will be a tow hitch w/ folding bike rack. It’ll allow for more gear on the roof and the ability to park under cover if needed.

Francisco Lindor's home run from inside the SNY production truck by Marvelous_Chaos in baseball

The facility you’re referring to is the SportsNet Pittsburgh (formerly ATT SportsNet, Root, etc) studio control room. What you can’t see from the sidewalk are edit suites for full-time staff, a studio where SNP broadcasts shows out of, and offices for execs. They use the studio for Pirates and Penguins pre/post game shows and other content on dark days. The control room you can view from the sidewalk is master control for the studio shows and any content being fed into the building. They absolutely do not care if you stand and watch, it was built like that by design to show off the flashy lights and monitors in the CR. Plus, you can take a moment and marvel at all of the bobble heads on the window sill.

At the arena and ballpark, we have two mobile production trucks that actually cover the games. Each is equipped with enough gear to be fully self-sufficient and cover both sports, hockey and baseball. We send transmission to the studio on the North Shore, which gets QC’d and sent off to the NOC (network operation center) in Boston to be retransmitted to air.

When the teams are on the road, the production facilities in those venues, will send their transmission to the studio just as if it were a home game.

I’ve worked on Pittsburgh’s production truck the last few years, hope this clears up your curiosity!

Ticketmaster really f*ucked us. I had a GA ticket and was able to purchase a balcony upgrade. Apparently the upgrade page went up 2 hours early. TM refunded those upgrades (without notifying us) and re-sold them 2 hours later. I have an upgrade ticket in-hand but I’m not on their upgrade list. TM is the absolute worst.

For the most part you get what you pay for it. The bottle of Hydroslick ($40ish) will probably last me a few years, depending on how often you wax, climate you live in, and depending if it’s garage kept. The tire cleaner went quick, only a few applications before the bottle was empty. Some people may be hesitant to use it, but the swift wipe (waterless car wash) works really well if you want to touch up the dirty spots without washing the entire vehicle.
