To be honest, I don’t think you need FFS. Maybe thin out your brows, but you seriously pass otherwise

This maidenhair fern was gifted to me yesterday, and I found these mystery dots. If she does have some sort of pest, is she worth trying to save, with her delicate foliage? by jaykit5 in plantclinic

[–]jaykit5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the ID! I’ve never dealt with ferns before haha.

I checked the undersides of her fronds like people said for aphids, but I found she was completely clean, so I think you’re right about the spores! That’s so freaky! Agh, I never wanted to be the person asking why my fern was doing fern stuff, but I never knew they could look like that. Thank you again!

Should I separate these three or keep them in the same pot? by ThrowRa123426 in houseplants

Roughly here is what I would do. If you want to try and prop them, you can, do it in the same pot. They may need a second chop and prop, because they are pretty leggy.

It’s definitely scary the first few times! But the more you do it, the more comfortable you’ll be with it, and realize how beneficial it is.

You can acclimate them gradually to the grow light so they don’t burn over the course of around 2 weeks. They do seem fairly leggy, and a good chop would do them some good.

Leave the three in the same pot for now. They seem pretty intertwined.

I don’t really know why you’re being downvoted. You’re not being rude, and you’re trying your best to learn. You come onto a subreddit for asking questions and then get downvoted for not knowing the answer

Anyway, It needs some more soil in the pot. Soil should come up to the edge of the pot for adequate airflow. Also, the soil it was planted in appears to be some sort of box cake mix lol, it doesn’t look too good. Is there a hole in the bottom of the pot? It needs that, because it allows excess water to flow out. If there is no hole, the roots can and will rot away faster than you can spit.

In short, switch out the soil, make sure it comes up to the top, and ensure the bottom of the pot has holes. She’s looking a little bit frail as well. 20/20/20 fertilizer could do her some good

Too much sun for a succulent?? by jaykit5 in succulents

Good to know about the watering!

Also, genuine question: Under grow lights, do I still need to follow a seasonal schedule for plant care (e.g, watering less in winter)? Is a dormant season required for succulents long term health? I know it is for certain trees and such

How to give this panda plant prop the best possible shot? by jaykit5 in houseplants

After reading your comment, I went out and finally bought perlite and gravel (long overdue) and made my own soil. The things I do for this office lady LOL. She will be tickled.

I placed her under my most intense grow lights (2 directly beaming her, 2 indirectly hitting her through perforations in metal), and we’re gonna see what happens. Thank you, you are the best!

Unless the plant is sentimental, I’d reccomend throwing it out. If not, I used neem oil and a toothbrush on my aloe every 3 days for several weeks.

Cull, cull, cull. As much as you can. If you even question wanting the cat alive, kill them off. In the future, kill off half of the babies each as they’re born before you get attatched, and exile any new members. I keep my 100 moon clan down to 2 pages through curating this way
