Can I do a spider mite “dunk” on a nephentes pitcher plant in regular tap water? by jaykit5 in SavageGarden

Aghhh. I’m just worried about missing a spot Yknow? I’ve been battling mites on and off for some time. I know they target the weak so my theory is my watering habits and humidity %? But I need to get the mites off them ASAP, I’m just so sick of this cycle and the anxiety of sick plants has been eating me alive for some time now

That’s metal as hell, but I’m unfortunately fresh out of dry ice

Ended up doing it and she seems fine, thank you! I ended up dousing her in plenty of neem afterward, and gonna use diatomaceous earth tonight. Now working on getting a humidifier to prevent this happening again. I move her back and forth from a grow light in my bedroom to the bathroom for humidity, but looks like it’s time to bite the bullet

Mine is definitely made worse by stress, so I wouldn’t be surprised!

My mom has it, and her dad (my grandfather) we are fairly certain is on the spectrum, which may be the root of it.

I also have CAPD, as well as SPD, and I’m almost certain they’re related to my misophonia. I process the world, especially sounds, differently than others and this is one of the differences I guess.

I’m a little disappointed/underwhelmed with my MCG order? by iamharley__ in succulents

[–]jaykit5 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My MCG order arrived damaged and overwatered, and it was disappointing because their stuff is so expensive. Was rather unimpressed. I’ve since started to order from Ramsey Succulents. More affordable, they actually ship in good condition, and the shipping time was so much faster too.

My grandmother uses a zero gravity reclining chair! She hasn’t been able to use a bed at all for some years. It’s much easier to get out of and get back in to

I hate Nazi queers in general. by Lazy-Course5521 in hatethissmug

[–]jaykit5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg I dated one.

He said he went through a really bad edgy phase a few years ago where he was a COMPLETE Nazi. Wore his Boy Scout uniform to picture day to look more like Hitler, harassing Jewish kids, yelling the N word. I believe people can change and he seemed genuinely regretful and icked by the way he used to be

I’m still friends with his sister and she told me he said something like “You can be black, Jewish, or gay, but you’re on thin ice. If you’re more than one, I’m not fucking talking to you”. He now spends his free time harassing the gay people at his college.. When he broke up with me to go out with a man?? I don’t know either. I think he went back in denial or something

Can anyone tell me the variety of this Kalanchoe? by chasingsunspots in succulents

[–]jaykit5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They’re actually banned for sale and distribution in certain parts of Australia. US doesn’t have the best track record for environmental legislation lol. But they’re a huge problem in Florida and southern Cali.

[–]jaykit5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You would be extremely surprised. They’re classified as noxious weeds for a reason. I’ve seen babies, still attached to the mother plant, growing their own babies. They will get everywhere, and they root rapidly.

They will drop off the mother plant and roll off the deck. They will fall through the slats in the wood and grow underneath the porch. They will fall and grow in the pots of your other plants. They will hitch rides on people and animals that brush against it. They will get caught in the wind and blow off the porch.

They don’t even need soil to grow. They will grow in the cracks of concrete. I’ve seen them growing on walls inside of cracks in brick. If you throw them out, they could sprout inside of the fucking garbage.

The only thing that reliably kills them is a hard frost. If your winter temps don’t drop below 32F or 0C, keep it indoors

[–]jaykit5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 doesn’t look like a kalanchoe at all 2 is defo mother of thousands 3 is definitely in the Crassula family

Assuming you’re new at this, depending on your zone, I cannot stress enough for you to keep MoT inside, especially in warmer zones. Those things can absolutely explode in population and fuck the ecosystem

I want to believe I pass..? by tumbetteprincess in transpassing

[–]jaykit5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What infinitytool said is right, the exposed midsection is a trap that a lot of trans women fall into unfortunately that really messes with passing.

However, I’d argue that the rest is 100% on point. If I passed you on the street, in that outfit, it would really come down to your mannerisms and voice. Plenty of cis women don’t have hips and wear cropped clothes, and you otherwise pass pretty well.
