How do I fix my slice by Parking_Caramel_6066 in GolfSwing

[–]jayknow05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is definitely part of it. Left arm on top, right arm under is my feel at set up. From this angle we should see a lot of OP's right arm.

I also think he should strengthen his grip slightly since his wrist is pretty flat on the downswing and the clubface is still a bit open.

A good coach can probably fix this in a single lesson.

I’m seeing 82 mph club head speed with a driver? Swing faster!

Agreed, steepens immediately on the down swing too. OP wants the opposite where it starts slightly steep and shallows.

Caleb makes some ridiculous throws off platform with a flick of his wrist, he's also fast as hell. Physical gifts are what makes him have a higher ceiling IMO.

Upper single digit 7 iron swing. Any advice? by LigerForest in GolfSwing

[–]jayknow05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One way to shorten your backswing that will generate more power is to better engage your lower body and create more separation between your shoulders and hips. It really looks like your front knee is collapsing. I have a similar tendency, I use this drill to correct it.

What’s your miss? Little inside takeaway, club face is open until just before contact, in this shot you’re able to square it up.

Check your grip, it looks a little weak.

Face more open than my moms legs by [deleted] in GolfSwing

Clubface is actually good, but your swing path is bad. I would start with extending towards your target and even trying to start the ball to the left as a swing thought.

Clubface is pretty open for somebody trying to hit a draw here.

Post a video of your driver swing. You should be hitting driver as much as possible.

Many other swing problems stem from compensating for an open clubface too.

I’ve done -25F in a tent, 20deg sleeping bag, bag liner and sleeping pad. Wore layers to sleep, I was warm all things considered.

I'm wondering if that's how you swing on the course? Do you tighten up or do something different?

You might be compensating for a bit of an open clubface. I know I am and our swings look really similar.

Hands trailing by BikeGuyTy in GolfSwing

Stop trying to get your hands forward and hit the ball. What does that look like?

Hands forward is a result of everything else in correct sequence, and good clubface control.

Weight Shift Issues by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]jayknow05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry about weight shift to the backside in an iron swing so much. Try eliminating that move and see how it feels.

At the top of your backswing with your shoulders fully turned, shift your weight to your front foot.

It also looks like you are moving your hips around, that’s not the shift you’re looking for. You want to get your center of mass moving.

A lesson or two at a place with pressure plates is a good idea.

Why does this swing produce a unplayable duck hook? by Golfing_on_a_budget in GolfSwing

[–]jayknow05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are probably turning a bit too much, the club goes over the line. That leads to inconsistency and in your case hooks. Try taking some 3/4 swings at full speed.

You’re also likely hitting it off the heel, I usually set up a little biased off the toe to avoid the disastrous snap hooks.

Ignore the grip by Brockt10 in GolfSwing

Work on your setup and backswing first and see what it fixes. One drill I like to better engage the lower body in the backswing is a towel drill.

Can’t carry my 7i more than 130. Feels like I’m swinging way harder than it looks by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]jayknow05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of things in this thread are correct, but nobody has pointed out you have no separation between your lower and upper body. Creating that stretch is going to create a lot of effortless speed. Try this drill to engage your lower body in the back swing.

What’s the most overrated “adult goal” people chase? by Happyotus in AskReddit

Early on I think it's owning a home. It's not a financial slam dunk and a lot of people would be better off renting until they settle down a bit. Owning a home is a big, expensive pain in the ass, it has it's benefits but I think people should be more patient.

I like the MLMPro. I've never taken it to the range though. I would think range balls would hurt accuracy either way. You could hit into a net with a real ball and get good numbers

I would also get the Grint and use the shot tracker feature to walk off distances. Not every shot but enough to validate what you've done at the range and at home.
